Ole was right to pick a strong line-up yesterday, but I felt he was naive to change both full-backs at half-time. And I think there is a larger point about him playing the same players all the time. I refuse to believe Telles and VDB are really as bad as their performances yesterday, but it is understandable that they are rusty given how little they play. I think he could probably get more out of the squad if he spread the playing time around a little more. In the end the results are good though, so can't really complain too much.

As posted at the end of last season - I wanted to see progress in the following areas: A comfortable top four finish, a cup win or a place in a final and an improvement in our playing style. I feel those were all very fair metrics to judge him on, and he's achieved all of that. It's been a pretty good season overall bar the odd expected hiccup here-and-there. The biggest disappointment for me is our CL exit and no amount of excuses can gloss that over. I feel he's made more strides as a manager and I really feel we're ready for a title push next season.

Ive said it before and I'll say it again, people will still complain if ole were to win the league.
If ending 3rd and 2nd in a highly competitive P.L is mediocre - then you agree that every other manager apart from Guardiola has been awful and should be fired ?
Tottenham this year has been a big strange - they have won 6 games more than they have lost and have + 22 GD - that is very unusual. That indicates - they lose by 1 goal and win by 3. Or put in simpler times - Son and Kane if they have a good day will take teams apart, but if they have a poor day Spurs lose.
Does anyone remember how close we were to being knocked out by Celta Vigo in 2017 ? Eric Bailly was his usual self and got sent off - and Guidetti (?) missed a sitter in injury-time which would have sent us out. And here people are complaining because we beat Roma 8-5 on aggregate 
You talk as if we are lifting the PL trophy. Bottom line is, Ole has done better than expected but getting one over Pep and Kloop seems beyond him IMO.

What do we think about the remaining fixtures? Where should we prioritise? Try and remain unbeaten in the away fixtures to keep our run going? Target the Liverpool game? Or target the nearest competition to our 2nd place finish in Leicester? We basically need 3 wins to confirm 2nd place, but 2 wins and a draw would also probably do it as it's doubtful Leicester will win all of their games anyway.

Agreed. Club needs to back him this Summer as we need to keep the momentum going. Keep improving, keep investing and this time not kids of the future. We need improvement now.

Or is it all based on coefficients and so we’re guaranteed to be seeded 2nd in the group stages regardless?

Ole needs to win the Treble with Smalling in defense, Lingard and Pereira in mid as well as players that don't want to play for the club. That is what great managers have done.

Winning the league isn't something "to be expected," not even for Manchester City. It's a monumental achievement that few managers ever get to claim. This isn't France or Germany. The Premier League remains competitive.
Now, expecting a manager to mount credible title *challenges* within a certain number of years is what would be reasonable for a big club, given how much they have to invest. And if a manager doesn't win a title despite coming close a few times, it may well be reasonable to find someone the club feels can do better.

Anderlecht in the quarters when we needed extra time to get through. Rostov in the Last 16 when we won 2:1 after two legs. It was tough watching.

Not to mention it was probably the easiest draw of modern european cup history - we didn't play a single good side the entire competition. Even Ajax in the final was a case of men against boys. They had some decent players and a bunch of 18-19 year old supertalents who weren't quite ready for it.
I havent watched highlights of our victory in that period. The games were largely torture.
And dont get me started on that final.
