good bit of business by Ole and the club as Cavani has proven his ability to score in the premier league and he gives us such an experienced player up front leading the line. Martial can't do it consistently enough and Greenwood isn't ready but can learn a lot of Cavani.

This should really push the summer recruitment towards Sancho now that we have a #9 for next season resigned

OGS must go - Cavani will block the path to the first-team for several of our youngsters - we should have given Elanga, Hugill and McNeill a chance instead

Brilliant news, we can wait a year for Haaland now. Thought something had been agreed the way Ole spoke yesterday.

I'm guessing you're probably joking, and normally I'd agree (about giving youth a chance, NOT getting rid of Ole) but we're about to hit the crest of a wave with the current team (assuming a couple more good signings are made). This time, I'm fine with giving the proven experienced player another year so that we can progress and maybe land a big trophy or two.

Very exciting news, though it probably means Haaland nor Kane will be coming here. That was always going to be difficult, so we can now focus on other areas to improve.
If it makes you feel any better neither of those two players were coming this summer regardless of the Edi contract.

Excellent - now just get Grealish and we're winning the title next year.

For a player as brilliant as Edinson Cavani, his CV has been shamefully ordinary up till now: Danubio, Palermo, Napoli, and Paris Saint-Germain.

This is his chance to add a properly mega club to that list. It'll only be two seasons, but I think he'll eventually look back on his time here as the most impactful on his own legend.

And from a United fan's point-of-view, I couldn't be happier.

Pep’s leaving and de Bruyne’s injured to the end of 2022? If not we need a whole lot more if you want Ole Solskjær to beat Pep Guardiola at football

I remember Andy Mitten saying that David Moyes was desperate to sign Cavani in 2013 (before he chose PSG) and thought he would "score for fun" in England.

I really think he's suited to this league and would have been an absolute beast if he'd joined then

If we win our game in hand, it's only a 7 point gap, without a proper RW and a 36 year old striker. Harry Maguire and Lindelof in defence.

Not too shabby for a P.E. teacher against one of the greatest of all time.

I think this guy might actually influence the team long after he's gone. It looked like Ole favoured mobile wide attackers like Martial up front until this season, but I think Cavani has changed all that. The entire team plays better with a focal point, and I'd be surprised if we weren't in the market for a long term player in the same mould.

Ole has beaten Pep how many times? ;)
If Cavani were available since the start of this season? Think we'll be sitting top of the league comfortably.

I think your right, whilst not totally undermining his career so far, there is no doubt he should have been the main man at an elite club for the peak of his career.

Ive already posted that had we bought him and had him during his peak that he has the ability to have become a United legend.
Obviously that won’t happen now but he has the chance to raise his own reputation within the game even further at a club like ours.

Like yourself I’m enjoying watching every minute of him here. Breath of fresh air and has totally refocussed many fans back towards what a proper, proper no 9 looks like.
