Friday is an insane day for me. Love Death Robot and Castlevania binge with my mate and ME trilogy. Beautiful.
Same, can't wait! ME all day and LD+R, Castlevania and a takeaway at night.

Secretly hoping the weather is shite so I don't feel guilty about not going out.

Looks like it looks like shit.

It's gonna blow!

I'm sure certain aspects of it will look dodgy. This looks nice, though (original on the left)

I actually think there will be shitloads of backlash to this online going by the expectations people seem to have. It's just the original trilogy in one nice package including all the DLC with a texture upgrade and a few tweaks to make it play more modern. Anyone going into it expecting anything radically different or upgraded vs their playthrough from years ago is going to be horribly disappointed. I'm expecting a lot of EA bashing once this goes live on Friday

If it does get torn apart online I hope it doesn't have an influence on EA taking on future Mass Effect games. Andromeda and then a bad reaction (if there is) for this one will all be on EA, but the bean counters won't see it that way.

One thing I know is that I'll love it, but my expectations are for the same game looking slightly different.

As long as it runs well that's the main thing.

Even when I played it the first time I remember thinking it didn't look great (ME2 film grain was ridiculous) but I still loved it.

What's the betting that there will be negative fan reviews based on apparent censorship? I didn't see Miranda's ass for long enough- 0 out of 10, worst game ever!

I mean there will be backlash if it’s a crappy remake and rightly so. If you are gonna remake/remaster something then do it justice or four do it at all. I have never played the games so I’m certainly looking at it with intrigue but I still want them to do it justice.

well, no, because it's not a remake.

If, as a remaster, it's really buggy and runs like shit on newer PC's then yeah, it should be slaughtered. But people shouldn't expect it to be something it isn't.

It's only gonna fall. For real though did anybody else get this email?

I just saw that there has been conflicting info sent out regarding release times, but Bioware hasn‘t responded. I’m still banking on the 14th Midnight EDT for my PC release. There are people out there claiming they already have it.

That’s abit of a cop out though surely. There’s some brilliant remasters out there that have done well to bring older games into this gen. if they don’t achieve that then why wouldn’t that deserve criticism? Anyway I really hope they have done a good job as I want to play this.

Like what? I'm just curious as to your expectations.

They've been really transparent with what it is. 2 & 3 have gotten graphical upgrades to look better in higher resolutions, that's pretty much it. 1 has modelling, UI, combat changes etc. to make it less dated compared to the other 2, a decent amount of stuff but nothing mad.

Anyway a guy streamed the first few hours of 1 here and I think it looks good from what I've glanced over: Streaming "Mass Effect Legendary Edition" - YouTube

Yeh fair enough. It sounds a little light on the leg work to then charge £50 but I’ll probably end up buying it anyway. There’s been loads of good remakes and remasters, Tony Hawks, final fantasy, even games like Spyro, Crash. To differing degrees they have all been brought into modern gen. For an example of a poor remaster look at Kingdoms of Amalur re-reckoning. They did feck all and just recharged for the same game which is why they got criticised. I suspect with it being EA it will be more like KOA rather than the better remasters but at least the game is solid anyway.

Yeah but most of those are remakes, not remasters. There is a massive difference!

Really looking forward to this, I joined the fun at ME2 so missed the first one. Roll on Friday.
I was the same. I played ME1 then years later when they did the original trilogy bundle. Felt awful to play. Really hoping it's been seriously tightened up and streamlined.

I played them all in maybe 2015 and thought 2 and 3 still held up well, gameplay wise (not that they were ever great in the first place). But 1 was a real chore to get through. Hopefully the improvements they've made at least make the combat a bit less shite.

Never played ME before but jumped on this. My copy came through the post this morning for some weird reason. Guess I’ll be trying it out this evening!

I've played the first one, but completely forgot everything about it. Haven't played the 2nd or the 3rd, and heard those are the best ones in the series. So excited!

I don’t really know much about it, so going in very blind haha.

Do you have any spoiler free tips?
Ehh, not really, just keep in mind that some decisions you make have major consequences that impact the rest of the game and sequels. Other than that the games aren't very hard, so nothing specific. Personally I like the classes that have powers over something like Soldier.

Awesome, thanks!

I like the fact your decisions impact the story. Looking forward to playing it this evening.

I watched countdown get to zero at 13:00 then it immediately added another 12 hours to the clock

Sentinel is the most well-rounded class, so you won’t have to rely on bringing specific teammates. Soldier is just a tank; if you want a more interesting weapons build then do infiltrator. Soldier was the most popular class so maybe I’m wrong there, I just found it too vanilla. Vanguard is the one if you’re the type to go straight ham into battles with a shotgun, but I’d recommend something else in 1 then switching to it in 2 where it really gets fun. Adept is the black mage of the group. Engineer is good if you want to roleplay as tech support.

For 1, I’d recommend Sentinel, Infiltrator, or (my choice) Adept. Then consider a switch to Vanguard in 2 if you like chaos.

My copy just turned up so is installing now. Flipping through the pamphlets they have changed some of the controls for the original. In ME1 grenade is mapped to X rather than the back button. And in ME3 the back button is now a dedicated quick save button which I don't remember being there in the original.

It also comes on two discs, at least on the Xbox side. I cannot work out what the second disc is for though. It's labelled installation yet whenever I insert it it just asks for the first disk again. So I finished installing the first disc and booted it up and noticed that it only installs ME1, with the other two having an install prompt when you highlight then. Huzzah, I thought, that is what the second disc is for. Yet when I select install it just starts downloading it from the network!

Are the controls consistent across all 3 games (so for ME3 is the grenade throw the same as ME1 now as an example)? It would be pretty weird if the controls differ by game for the same actions on the remaster.

The majority of the controls are consistent. But ME1 is the only game where everyone gets access to grenades (they are not an ability), in 2 and 3 only certain classes get grenades and they are class abilities so would get mapped to the shoulder buttons. In those games X is reload instead (ME1 has no reloading).

That makes sense. It's been so long since I played ME1 that I couldn't remember the controls. Sounds pretty consistent anyway.
