I totally disagree with that analysis as it doesn't hold up to scrutiny. It's lazy.

We weren't under any pressure tonight.

This match was way more important to Liverpool's season than ours.
It was the chance to burry Liverpool's chances of UCL, at home after resting all the starting XI the game before. Maybe it doesnt change our situation much but FFS of course it had importance to win tonight.

Yeah they had a good long rest since Sunday.

Anyway your point was pressure. There was no pressure on the players. This wasn't a do or die game for those lads. If there was fans in the place and the atmosphere was crazy the yeah they probably would have been more up for it but I don't see how this was a pressure game when top 4 is done and we've a final coming up.

Yeah United have definitely lacked intensity since the full time whistle against Villa knowing they had mathematically secured top 4

Isnt playing against Liverpool preassure enough? You talk af if this was any given match. It was not.

How Jones has survived multiple culls I don’t know
This time next year, Jones and Bailley will still be here having played maybe a dozen games between them. It's ridiculous to keep handing contracts to these injury prone players.

Whether they're any good is secondary to the fact that they can't stay fit. We're not even protecting any supposed value. No team that could afford their wages would want them and no team that might take a punt on them could afford their wages.

For the fans it is. I don't think it matters too much for these lads when top 4 is wrapped up and there are no fans to make it an occasion.

You might think it's a disgrace but nothing really feels real without fans there.

    you think tonight's result is also the Glazer's fault? yes because they told Pogba to lose his man, they also told each player to lose the ball in dangerous areas, they also told Fred to do the no-look pass when he can barely thread one on a normal day etc... today showed that no team can play 3 games in 5 days no matter how great our comebacks are, we failed today because of stupid individual mistakes.
Those guys didn't play on Tuesday they played on Sunday. Only Greenwood and Matic played on Tuedsay. This team was the right one, and it was full off errors .

When then theres something extremely wrong with them, imagine Madrid players not giving a feck about beating Barcelona just because there arent fans in the stadium.

You do know how silly it sounds right?

I suspect it doesn't mean as much to all of them as the fans.

These are young professional millionaires. I don't think they've personally built up a proper rivalry with anyone. I could be wrong obviously.

Even still an off-night can just be an off-night.

I'm off to have a whiskey and forget about that shitshow. Take it easy mate.

He was moved position and it changed the game. He's complete dung on the right. It's not necessarily his fault, ole keeps putting him there
Not disagreement that he was a much better player after moving to the left. Which is no surprise. The question though is whether he's worse on the right than Pogba is as a no 8. Because they can't both play left wing.

Got people on here accepting a result, like oh never mind we got top 4 anyway. We could finish on 76 pts in 2nd ?
Wow that's not good enough. City could get 89 at a canter . This is the issue, how much have we improved. 6 home defeats 18pts already and 1 home game left. Can see dropped points there as well. People on here hammering Maguire , DDG as well, really take a good look at the last 2 games?. 2 different sides granted , 22 players about in those 2 games , lost both.

Surely that outlined how much we got to do to catch a City side, if we want to win A league.

I agree, it matters whether we finish on 76 or 81 points. That's as much a measure of progress as our table position. How we do against Liverpool is a measure too. No reason to see this as anything other than a punch to the gut.

I disagrre completely . Last night wasnt why we didnt win the league, we lose few games. Its turning the many 0-0 in the first half of the season to wins.
City will rotate now for the CL, us wining every game to get closer to a side who clearly wont give a feck wont prove a thing. Nobody will remember the end of the season after the EL is played

I'm pretty sure our points total is going to be remembered by quite a lot of people both here and elsewhere, when they turn to the issue of how good this team now is and how much progress it's made. And rightly so.

Quick, what was our points total last year and be honest if you googled it.

66 points. And I didn't need to google it.
Fair enough. And would you think we had a better sesson this year, and criticised less, if we finished on 63 last season?
This season will be written off due to covid anyway imo. It will hold little merit when proper football returns. All this talk is just reactionary noise. We literally gave away 3 points to Leicester so pretending every point after City won the league is important doesnt hold weight.

That's posing a flawed question - the point concerns how you asses progress, and how good this season has been is only one half of that question. If we'd had 63 last year and got 76 this year, that'd mean a bigger improvement than 66 to 76, yes. Not a very big difference, but it is what it is. If we end the season with four losses, that doesn't have zero effect on how I see the season or where we are. It's not going to have zero effect on the whole narrative surrounding the club either, and that will in turn play into expectations, confidence and other things that matter.

This game is bigger for Liverpool than Utd. Klopp knows if they win this, top 4 is in their hands.

Hope Utd are up for it, but feel the extra will to win for Liverpool May give them the edge.

Would take a draw now. That will be enough to derail their chances of CL.
    It was so obvious!

Didn't say this game was reason we didn't win league. Look at the bigger issues here moving on to next season, we played 20 plus players in 2 games and lost both. That utilised whole squad and more. We got to catch up maybe 16 points on City from this season. For next draws killed us this season I know, is this present squad good enough to get another extra 16pts next season. ?

Switched off after the first half, they never looked like winning after yet another back post goal put Liverpool ahead. The schedule may be partly to blame but for god’s sake how poor was Fred? Bruno play acting because he couldn’t get into the game. Doesn’t bode well for the Europa League final unless they get a rocket.
