We've played them three times and we've won 3 times, Ella Toone has scored 10 goals against them. But they've grown up a lot since then - a fully professional side who have just been promoted to the WSL1 by winning the Championship, and they've got a great league record this year. Hopefully they've all been out partying tonight and will show up at Leigh with hangovers tomorrow :D

The match is live on MUTV. Whether it will also show up on FAPlayer tomorrow I don't know - sometimes the links go up late.

Am I being thick? Why is it definitely her last game in charge and the last of the season if it’s a cup game?

Jane Ross scores from the edge of the box and we're leading 2-1

Leicester playing well, and we really need to make this safe. Charlie Devlin (ex-United) on for Leicester now - she's going to be a danger.

Reminds me of vs Reading in the first season. Just bad.

My goodness, what a sad ending to the season :-( The womens teams future seems very unsure right now, the positivity has vanished, its terrible.

Disappointing result for Casey's final game with extremely poor defensive blunders which sees us exit the FA Cup with a whimper

Other than the goals I don't think they had another chance. Both CBs at fault as well. Several chances not taken at the other end. Just bad. Against Reading 2 years ago we went out of the FA cup with a 3.2 defeat and the defending and concentration were the issue then as well (we were 2.1 up in that as well).

Any clue on why Stoney left? The real reason? Was it to do with inequality in the training facilities like it said in the paper, or other reasons?

Wont know for absolutely sure until she does an interview. But from whats been said in articles (and what's been said/liked by family members on Twitter), it was a range of things.

False promises about facilities, reluctance to invest in the team when needed (makes sense why Boa Risa didn't come as expected). The reports about Carrington are really bad, but some can be explained with covid, seems like she's had to fight the board continually up till now and just reached breaking point.

I doubt she was worried about inequality in them. If the reports are right, they basically had no permanent assigned training facilities, and it's left them really vulnerable this past year. There's even the suggestion that training pitch condition could have contributed to some of our injury troubles.

They were promised the Cliff - more than three years ago, right from the start. That move never took place. They had temporary facilities at Leigh, fitting in around the Leigh Rugby team and the public programs there. Those temporary arrangements failed with the covid controls.

They moved to temporary facilities at the edge of Carrington. 10 minutes to the loo, gym setup under a marquee, portacabin to change in. Just a shoddy setup for a pro team, and apparently no commitment from United to have something better for next season. The kind of frustration that happens when temporary goes on for three years and the standard of temporary actually gets worse rather than better.

Thanks Wixqaz & Jojojo.
Why start a womens team unless you are going to develop it properly? You can see some players probably wanting to leave now Stoney has gone and how its run.

Yep. Right now it's looking like it was a box ticking exercise. I remember the first game against Liverpool. Neil Redfern had taken over them at the same time United started, United won that game. He left Liverpool straight afterwards, just the one game in charge because it was so unsupported. They're now in the Championship and they didn't get close to promotion this season.

United need to appoint the right manager and they need to do it quickly. Players have contracts that expire shortly and other players that may have been earmarked as replacements will go to other clubs. There are also players that may have signed contracts the stay when Casey was in there because of her vs the team.

There is no point having a womens team if you're going to treat it so badly, they aren't expensive teams to run and it's just now getting proper money from the Sky deal. If they created this team for PR all they're getting from it now is bad publicity. They need to get a proper replacement manager, sort out the training situation and expand Carrington. Hopefully that will be her legacy, that by leaving it'll force them to do something.

Yes lets hope so. By her leaving its left the board with egg on their faces after one season in the WSL.
