You could say that they got lucky by us dropping so many points as well. It works both ways
Sort of but you've been consistently poor the majority of the season, where Leicester have been consistently good until the late bottle job. It's not luck you're fighting for top 4, you've been rubbish. Lucky for you top 4 fight looks like it'll fall your way because teams above have fallen over themselves and messed it up, happens regularly. Fell our way last season in a similar way, but at least we were forced to put in a pretty good run.

Liverpool are 7 points off Utd in Second. Not sure what to make of that. Probably just that quality wise, it's been a shocking season.

Ah I see. It's almost like you're trying to say the season is 38 games long and you don't win the league in January, etc. Amirite?

The scheduling killed us. Theres every chance Liverpool could get within 1 of us since we should be focused on the final but all that means is we gave up on nothing games with 5 matches to go.

Turf Moor, under the lights, full of those delightful Burnley fans once again, Dyche putting on a proper clinic. Almost seems too perfect, which is why Liverpool will win 0-2.

Surprising they're only 7 points off second after all their issues and injuries, maybe would have got it if Matip or someone had put a run together

yep the last week has been disappointing in the league but what can we do, the PL forced our hand against Leicester and we just had an off night on Thursday after a good start. I'm sure we'll drop further points against Wolves as well :(

Yeah I'm sad that that Wolves game is our final away game, and they'll have their fans back. Stinker of a fixture normally, but with those factors and the final a few days later, my expectations for it are very low.

Feck United for letting these cnuts back in. We had one job. Rested every fecker for them and we still got owned on our own patch.
Nah, we had 4 games in 7 days. Even if you took into account the Leicester game being a write off, that was two days where we could not train for the Liverpool match at all.

It was absolutely a poor performance, but considering everything that went on I'll cut them some slack. If you're going to blame anyone, blame Leicester and Chelsea for their recent results.

Think that poor bit of scheduling this week has cost us our momentum. We were in the groove of playing two games per week and the Sunday-Thursday rotation but even with the write-off of the Leicester game, it would have still meant two less days than normal for us to focus on the big one.

Under normal circumstances, we'd have seen 4 points at the very least from the games we lost this week, IMO. And the gap between us and them would have been at best 11 points.

You can’t give us any grief for our results. The scheduling was absurd. Coaches prep for days before a match. We had a 24 hour break. It was nonsense. To lose both games was almost a given. You have to sacrifice your first eleven for one match, and have no prep time for a big game in the other. Outrageous.

If Liverpool make the top four, they’ve deserved it, plain and simple. Even if they got a helping hand with the scheduling in one game. You don’t make top four because of one game, you make it because of a season. Leicester and Chelsea had it in their own hands, they have blown it. One of them anyway.

And credit where it’s due. To score a last minute winner through your keeper is really something else. Fairytale stuff for them, and while I LOVE seeing them suffer, you can’t begrudge them their fighting spirit to make it through.

West Ham and Everton are such mentality minnows, it's hilarious.

Pool were always winning their remaining 3 so it depends if Leicester can perform against Chelsea. My prediction is they lose 3-0 but hopefully I'm wrong.

West Ham I don't think we can blame them for their results. They were clinging on for dear life this time last year and but for injuries to Rice, Cresswell and Antonio I think they would have given it more of a go.

Everton, on the other hand, their performances never seem to back up the impressive soundbytes they provide.

We'll play a rotated XI. Would love for us to win and break that 75 point barrier but equally I'd be happy to see Mejbri get on the pitch and to see more of Amad.

We are a win (against Fulham) away from securing silver. Couldn’t care less what happens behind us. Liverpool will struggle next season anyway:D

Utd should beat Fulham and very likely draw with Wolves. If LFC win their next two the season finishes with Liverpool only 5 points behind Utd.

Good thing you're not interested with what's happening behind you. ;)

I'm sure this has been asked and answered, but if not. If Chelsea beat City in the final and finish 5th with Liverpool 4th, what happens then?

Can still see Liverpool dropping points, I haven't been particularly impressed with their recent performances. Feeling it will be Leicester and Chelsea to make up top four.

I suppose the FA Cup win could help soften the blow a lot, but really you blew it even after United sort of gifted you the three points. Don't lose to Chelsea on Tuesday and i think you can make it by beating Spurs
You are right, it would soften the blow but the players will know that they should have done better. Beating Chelsea twice in a week is a tough gig.

People were so giddy about Leicester dropping points in the last few weeks and it baffled me, all worried about us getting 2nd which we'll do anyway, while Liverpool sneak in through the backdoor.
From a United point of view, it was right to want Leicester and Chelsea to drop recent points imo.

We'll only 'get 2nd anyway' because Leicester dropped 5 points against Southampton and Newcastle. With those extra points, they'd already be above us. That would mean we'd have to take both Fulham and Wolves games seriously - at the cost of fitness ahead of the EL Final 3 days later.

Those teams dropping points gives us the cushion to, hopefully, pick up the necessary points against Fulham, secure 2nd, and rest players v Wolves to give us a better chance of winning the EL Final.

I'm much more interested in securing 2nd and then winning our first trophy in 4 years, than about putting those at risk by being more bothered about which other teams get into the top 4 with us.

The way some people are talking you would think liverpool were about to win the league again.
They won a game against a side that has already been relegated, with a blatant ref decision of cancelling a perfectly valid goal and they are behaving like they won the UCL and EPL... even though they will still finish 5th. No way they win both their matches.

One YouTube comment was "the most iconic EPL goal", another one said "build a statue for Alison ". What a pathetic fan base...

If Chelsea drop out of top 4 and lose CL final, Tuchel might not survive considering Chelsea record of sacking manager.

I'll never understand why this narrative of teams fecking up in a top four race is considered ground-breaking, we're all inconsistent af hence why we're all in this race instead of a title one. That's why saying a team is favourite to bag a place because they have "easier" games is moot, everyone thought West Ham were going to sweep up in their last five games yet so far they've picked 4 points out of 9 in these so called easy games and are one Chelsea point away from being officially wiped out of the race.

Leicester had every chance to clinch it but couldn't beat Southampton or Newcastle & now have to beat Chelsea & Spurs. It's a big ask .
Really shame for you guys. Can't see you finishing in the top 4 now. That Newcastle game really was criminal. Have to win those.

I think the problem in Leicester City's case is how differently they perform early doors and then the change when the heat is on. Closing it out for them definitely is more than just general inconsistency

The best thing that could have happened was Liverpool smash a tired unmotivated Utd team at OT. It made Liverpool look amazing which is all good be me. They were back to their usual selfs yesterday against WBA.

Mane looks half the player he was.
Salad just played for himself. He would rather win the Golden boot than Liverpool finish in the top 4.
“Bobby” is a joke. Scores once in a blue moon and papers over the cracks. (Like at OT).
Then you have the aging midfield. Only Fabinino is at a decent age.
And final nail in the coffin ....is a 30 year old VVD going to be the same player after a serious injury and being out for a year. He was losing a bit of form before his injury.

Let’s see how this team copes with CL and PL football next season. Won’t be all smiles as the scousers think it will.

We can only blame the idiots who got the game called off with Liverpool. Nothing to do with scheduling

If Utd were in Chelseas position we would be rinsing the players never mind scheduling. Nobody to blame but ourselves etc. The fact we are getting shit on for allowing Liverpool to go from 5th to 5th is a level of self hate thats new to me.
Hell Ole got shit on for City going on a near world record winning run to overtake us. Somehow that was our fault
