Avg for GW38 is 47 overall and 59 for Top 10k managers.

All hail Bruno. King of FPL in his first full season

Did not quite have the strong finish as you always wish for but since the team was built to spread out the risks and stay stable it is quite difficult to start doing pull off the high risk transfers for maximize for last round. A bit surprisingly, Semedo's goal "saved" the season somewhat!

OR: 1740
RedCafe: 2nd
Redcafe 20/21: 1st/2nd
Private ML: 1st

I have not really been as active in this forum as I would like to but it really made FPL more fun and a place to go to after each round. Thanks for sharing thoughts: @Dirty Schwein , @Paul_Scholes18, @CassiusClaymore , @Sandikan and many more!

Yeah but you've done much better than me.

Up to March I was just outside top 20k which is the first time I've been anywhere near that. Then it all fell apart and I'm looking at a mediocre 250k
Yeah I have not had that many punts with low popularity in attack that cost huge money.

It has mostly been 3-4 from Son, Salah, KDB, Bruno, Kane.

I was close to do Salah to Auba when Salah blanked, but did not do it.

The amount me and the other guys have dominated the posts makes me forget how there's some quality other players on here.

Overall rank 1,740? Bloody hell mate that's fantastic!!

My rival certainly got caught in two minds over him today.
Probably thinking you can't possibly take Bruno out - didn't, and then went too cautious late day by sharing the same captain!

Also who is playing Euro fantasy when it starts?

It can be fun to play a bit more punty cause it is very hard to do well given it only got 7 rounds.

Just for those playing I would not recommend Bruno. He is brilliant, but Ronaldo surely takes the pens right?

Yes your rival had so many fun hauls haha. Mitchell, Rudiger, Smith Rowe and probably more just can't remember. Who needs Salah when you have these guys.
It's funny now but it gave me sleepless nights at the time

I've never played any other one because I think they're more luck based but maybe I'll try it.

Thank both!

Really think that the thoughts in this forum are really in depth and well presented (not just FPL), this forum was my main source of knowledge this season! Reddit and FPLScout does not have the same balance as in here! The RedCafe-knowledge + a small strategic change to always spread risks and stay calm when you got one bad round since that usually will give a good next round was the main cause to this good result season! A bit shameful I could not give return the favour with analyzes and reflections. Perhaps next season!

Yeah, stop hiding your light under a bushel!

Although this game is always hard to repeatedly have high ranks.

What points did you end up for 1,740 out of interest? Just to see whether that's 100 points, 50 or 30 etc...then what I presume is about 25/26k for me.

2.6k overall.

My best ever FPL season.

Played an early wildcard and subsequently racked up a dozen green arrows in a row which catapulted me into the Top 10k. Spent the remainder of the season trying not to mess up!

We will do more of a betting per game through a template website. 1X2, highest scorer etc.

NT fantasy is really hard but I guess it just makes it more playful and less demanding so might give it a try!

Yeah for sure. It is also quite draining to always stay on top and read all news etc.

2542p, would have needed 2556 to squeeze through sub1k.

I can really recommend https://www.livefpl.net/rank. It is probably the single best FPL-site out there with so many great features.

Noooo, let's all get over this season first, it's been a longun, even though it's been shorter duration wise.

Think it's the way there's been so many more midweeks, and the way almost every game week was staggered over more time slots than usual!! Has been draining.

I think Euro fantasy is harder for casuals. Since the rules are very different. You can change players and captains between the days so you should not go for cheap players that are not nailed.
Also have chips you can use. If you are not using that then I think it is almost impossible to win. In our game over 38 rounds the chips are a very tiny part of your overall points. From around 2500 in total you might gain 25 from bench boost and 15 from TC if you are lucky. FH can go many ways.

There is also limitless wildcard so you can buy everyone you want for one week. That chip is extremly OP like a much better free hit.

Playoff is luck a lot. Say if you bet on England doing well against say Switzerland and it goes to pens. Then if England fail you have to sell all your english players like Kane, Maguire, Mount etc. Thus you may even be forced to take hits to get 11 players. Thus going for good players from smaller countries like Scottland might be stupid since they get knocked out most likely. Thus Robertson is pretty much useless and Tierney.

Yeah that doesn't sound like it's for me. I don't watch much international football anyway so barely know who even starts for what team.

Definitely this. Especially the ones where you can change your players over every day.

I've won 3 or 4 of the euro tournament ones over the years with my work crew.

Yeah it is different strategy for sure. Most important you need to find cheap nailed on attacking players in midfield and one cheap starting striker.
Also go for cheap defenders with easy fixtures work in the group stage.

You can't afford that many premiums since the cost of players are very high. Finding nailed on 4.5 players is very hard.

For the low number of past games we can go too it all comes down into scouting friendlies and read about predicted lineups.

Let's take a look back at some of the early day narratives from this season:

Ferguson (palace) will be the best 4.0 defender as he's nailed to start every game (he didn't play a single minute )

Bamford is useless and lucky, he won't keep scoring (ended as one of the highest scoring strikers)

Dallas and Ayling are both equally good in attack (Ayling didn't get a single attacking return whilst Dallas became the new Lord Lundstrom).

Cancelo will be the next TAA with so much attacking threat (he only got like two attacking returns)

Werner is the best value premium striker at 9 million ()

James Justin will lose his starting place any minute now as Pereira will be back (He played for bloody ages, racking up goals and assists until his awful injury)

Mitrovic is the best cheap striker because he's PL proven, takes pens and will always start (it was a pack of lies )

Auba is a must have due to being a MF this year (instead he was more useless than ever before)

I'm sure there were more but one cool thing to do now is go back to your GW1 team and compare to you final team...

Who I see is Vinagre. That was a poor punt. People said he would start, but it was always risky.

Good summary.

Werner was someone we definitely were expecting to be a hit.

United and City not having a game week 1 fixture made it a really awkward start too.

Don't forget Lamptey in there too. One of the biggest gaps in looking quality versus miniscule points hauls.
Then a "doubtful" for the next game turned into about a 15 game absence! Same as with Grealish.

Checked back, 75 points week 1. 40 from Salah.
Werner, Ings, Antonio 9 points between them.
Had Pereira at the start for a few weeks - then realised Brom wouldn't score enough. Was gutted when they were playing an early season on fire Everton and competing well, with Pereira on TEN points then had a man sent off and got pumped ruining Pereira's even higher potential that day.

Started with good and bad luck.
Bad luck thinking 27M signing Saliba would start for Arsenal - instead Holding was the cheap starter.
Good luck - got Justin in for 9 points off the bench :)

Oh yeah we all had him as third sub and then he got sold the day before the season kicked off

Enjoyed watching Villa for the first half of the season pre Grealish.
Of course Lamprey. Great on the pitch, no points in FPL!

There is zero chance I’m ruining my summer with the Euro fantasy stuff

Congrats to everyone who won their ML and mainly for getting to the end of this season and not packing it in!

I won mine, mainly because the closest guy shat the bed in the last 5 weeks and didn’t use his chips well. I made probably the worst start I’ve ever experienced, and my use of the wildcard/FH over those blanks in 18/19 completely screwed me with the cancelled fixtures. I made it back to 150k overall I think, having only felt like I started doing well from week 31.

A good place for stats. It shows you your average points per player etc.
Sadly they count doubles as one game and also captain points are added with the average.
Interesting to look at the captain points per week
Peaked out in game week 1!!

10 captain fails 4-6 points.

  • Captain scores for each gameweek :
    40, 10, 10, 4, 26, 4, 12, 18, 22, 20, 28, 16, 8, 34, 4, 6, 26, 12, 16, 4, 6, 4, 14, 38, 16, 24, 20, 6, 14, 26, 14, 24, 18, 4, 38, 20, 6,

It's interesting looking at the key moments of the season.

The guy who came 2nd to me in the end, did a dreadful wildcard about a week or 2 before the United v Liverpool game got called off.
No way of knowing that was going to happen of course, but he did know a double was coming, yet took out Greenwood which was odd.
He did put a strong bench boost in in week 37 that almost rucked me up, but I still think he'd have done better doing his wildcard the week before the double, and stacking his team as close to 15 doublers as he could, with the constraint of the singles.

Similarly 2 or 3 ruined their chance of getting top by not having Bruno at all for the double (well, triple if you count that 10min cameo)

But what really boosted me up there was a 143 pointer benchboost in week 19. Think that took me from 5/6th terrain to competing for top 2.

Nice you did beat my bench boost with 6 points then. I guess we both had Stones and Dias? That week was my highest gameweek rank. Not sure how high it was.
