I picked my GW1 team in a hurry and had a crap week. I quickly realized that I need to rearrange the whole team and took my first WC in GW2. With all the shifting that I needed to do, I took out Son (Spurs lost to Everton in GW1) and Son scored 4 goals in GW2.
But I jumped on the Bruno, Salah and Bamford train in that week. So I wouldn't complain too much. But it was shocker to see my ML mate haul it in with captain Son that week.
I didn’t make those points back properly in my mini league till around week 32. Every time I closed the gap, something would go wrong and I’d end up 40 points behind again.

Maybe top 2 reach CL in your league so gain more money? I think it is the case in the danish league ;) and some other smaller leagues in Europe.
I am from Sweden and we are so bad with only one CL side.

I guess his fantasy fans might not liked it though. They wanted to beat Sadikans Galacticos, but his sponsors wanted the money for second place.

I guess Glaziers if we had 1 point up to Man City in first and 2 to Liverpool in 5th. They would want us to take the draw.
I need to step in after letting it go for about 5 or 6 times now, and point out there's a "n" in my name chief :D

Unless you're being cheeky and suggesting my over fixation on this game makes me sad, which is fair comment.
Just not on here, where we're all at it :D

Just an error on my part sorry. Sandikan here it is right. So any reasons you picked that name? My name is simple. Scholes my favorite player when I first started following United. Funny many other on this forum got the same name, but few with David Beckham, Ryan Giggs (I guess for what he has done outside football). Cantona pretty popular and Solsjear as well.

I guessed your reason ;)
There's so many Paul Scholes on here, I think there's even one without the underscore and with number 18 as I almost copied them in once in error.

Mine is very obscure.
At school, this guy used to shout "Sandikan" when he went to boot a goal in

It also gives an exotic feel, although the place in Malaysia is actually spelt Sandakan.

Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"

I assumed he was from (or liked) Malaysia.

Who is "Solsjear"? Does your phone/tablet just miss out random letters when you type?

Get you googling in between to try and look knowledgeable

In fairness, the lad doesn't have English first lingo like us, so it's fair enough when he doesn't speak pwoper and that.

When I used to play the draft games on the Caf, the other posters used to type BKTWR as entire name was too much.

I'm comfortable with it though... the point needed making to the younger United fans :)
I still treasure touching Robbo's jacket when he popped up at Wycombe's ground in 97 for some England U21 game.
Signed my program, along with Harry Redknapp, Frank Senior, Danny Murphy and potentially Viv Anderson.

Actually ...

My favourite books (by far) are about a fictional character called Flashman. I learned more history from reading them than in five years in school.

One of them is set (partly) in Borneo and (as I did with all the other Flashman books) I went away and spent some time finding out more about the area/time ... remembered the name (though didn't remember it was spelled differently).

Recommended reading. Read each book several times.

Flashman? Like a deviant version of superman who runs around flashing his piece?

And @Dirty Schwein

I asked the guy who came 2nd to me why he didn't try and differential me. (Instead doing Godfrey to Phillips, which meant we shared Salah cap, and shared Liverpool defence)

He said he was concerned about the guy in 3rd who had double Liverpool defence!

Imagine being 21 points off 1st, and more concerned with blocking the guy in 3rd, who was another 30 odd back!!

His decisions meant that because I brought in Dallas, we in effect ended up with just 4 differentials, which was a big ask to make up and expand on 21.
Although as stated, at half time I was worried!
That's nuts. I asked my rival why he got in Mane knowing I was getting him and then captained Salah knowing I was about to do that too... His response was the same, that he was nervous about the guy in third. The guy in third was 50 points behind (and took a minus 8).

Matt Targett's team name this year was "She Was Only XI" :nervous:
fecking hell.

I may call my team next year: Struijk Matip

Are you from Malaysia? My wife is from there and we go there at least once a year. Love it!!

Yeah I have set up an initial side.

Some big calls I am thinking about. Lukaku and Dan James or De Bruyne and Wind/danish striker.

Bednarek worth it? He is such a fantasy legend. The most underrated fantasy legend this season. He started extremly well then turned to absolute shit. -7 against us one time and a goal the other game.
For me though he averaged over 6 points per game though which for a 4.5 defender is extremly good. I think at one point he was one of the 5 best defenders in overall points.

Well he does a bit of the latter (he's a bit of "a lad") but set in 1800s... it's the bully from 'Tom Brown's Schooldays'.

An author (George McDonald Fraser, also wrote Octopussy weirdly) thought "what would have happened to that rich, lazy, cowardly, bullying git after he got expelled?" and stuck him in the army. Which gave him chance to write about all sorts of famous Victorians, The Afghan War, The Crimean War, China, Borneo, America, etc.

Basically slots him into real events like Charge of the Light Brigade, Custer's Last Stand, the Kabul retreat, the Gold Rush, etc and mixes fiction with fact. Brilliantly researched, funny, informative, brilliantly written.

If I get stuck on a Desert Island, I want DM Greatest Hits, lots of decent bitter and the Flashman books

and 17 nubile female slaves.

You get a free wildcard for round of 16. Thus not sure what you do if you use limitless instead.

I am actually not sure about the transfers after limitless etc. I think if you can't use normal wildcard if you use limitless then it is not worth it.
If you get your wildcard saved for the next round instead then it could be gold, but I doubt that.
Just checked the rules again.
Everyone has one limetless card and one wildcard available. In addition to this everyone has unlimited transfers between group stage and last of 16....So in some way you have two wildcards and one limetless card. A bit too much for a competition with only 7 GW's for my liking.

But i agree with you now, doesn't quite makes sense to use limetless for last of 16 when you have unlimited transfers for the round. Gameday 2 or last 8 it is...

Last 8 is bad since if you pick players that do well you can't keep them. You have to transfer in players to your old team. Using your wildcard then could be good instead.

Although you could save wildcard for semi finals too if you like. It is not a bad strategy, but I feel we might see more goals in the group. Also qualified teams for round 3 might have star players that do not play.
So using basically a free hit for that round might be good particular if we for some reasons know the lineups.

How can you spell unlimited correctly yet repeatedly spell limitless wrong?!

Agreed though. Looks a strange format.

I agree now with limiteless for GD 2, but not convinced with Wildcard for GD 3. I think it will be more useful for the quarter/semifinals. Otherwise you will be in danger of - points to complete your squad for the quarter or semis. But as you mentioned, we'll probably see more goals and open games in GD 3 than in the later stages...

So a bit to think about in the next few weeks. I actually wanted a break from Football Fantasy stuff until the new season, but Euro-Glory is more tempting.;)
