Got absolutely blasted in this thread for suggesting they try and sign Lukaku with the Kane money.

Well a week later and Inter reportedly need to raise 100m in transfers and the manager is heavily linked with quitting and Spurs are his rumoured destination.

Might not be so crazy seeing Lukaku at Spurs next season after all.
Inter still owe us about £70m for the Lukaku deal so they might have to sell this summer, or a couple of players at least

Much likelier he goes back to Chelsea than Spurs.

Zero clue what would draw him to Spurs coming off a title season when Chelsea can offer more wages + CL footy and potential trophies.

I think his willingness to join you means the deal is going to be less than that figure and despite Talksport generally being wrong about transfers in the past I fear they are absolutely bang on about you guys being his preferred choice
Yep thats what I fear, it is looking likely, I'd say its a 60/40 split with City fans I dont think most want Kane

Are those the problems that prevent us to win the league this season? Because I’m not talking about us winning treble or UCL.

Ole’s current tactic and philosophy allows us to work effectively with McFred and Lindelof in approaching each of our league games result in 2nd place in the league. New CB and new DM will provide more risk in failing to challenge or win the league than signing Kane as there is a chance we might need to change the current tactic and philosophy which might not work out.

Signing Kane will not change the current tactic and philosophy as we will still with McFred and Lindelof but instead, we will have a more fit striker who can play week in week out than Cavani, same strength (leadership, movement, work rate, can score header, both feet, outside and inside the box and doesn’t rely on pace) but even better as Kane is more creative in his playmaking than Cavani. This allows us to be better in solving our 7 of 0-0 problems without worry with a risk of getting worse due to changing the current system.

If we sign De Ligt/VVD or prime Rio’s level and Kimmich or prime Keane caliber then I can see them above Kane all day but we are all know the CB and the midfield option in market are not on par with them. Thus, I see Kane as much better option.
Do you still think Kane alone fixes us?

I just cant look beyond City for him. If he wants trophies, theyre the best option.

Then again, I could just as likely see him stay another year

Oh god I don't know how anyone can watch him longer than 30 seconds without getting a headache. He's a bit of a clown and that's relatively speaking too compared to his peers. Which is saying something!

I'm sorry but he's one of the wittiest guys out there. His reference game is second to none but if you're miserable and prefer an old man in a smoking jacket then he's not for you.

I don't like either? Nothing he says is funny he just exaggerates on everything and draws silly childish metaphors that make little sense. The closest witty, yet accurate parallels I find are occasionally from Goldbridge when he says things like "United are when you drive a car without a satnav. You know you're in A going to B but no idea how to get there, so you make it up as you go along". Or "he can't carry a paper bag up the pitch let alone a ball".

Expressions is just smokes and mirrors with wrestling or game of thrones puns that aren't remotely funny.

Not saying I like Goldbridge but he's a lot more palatable. Each to their own, though.

If Kane wants to win titles and trophies, then City, maybe Chelsea and one or two top European sides, would be his obvious route.
As much as I’d like him to join us, I think Utd would be a gamble for him.

I have to wonder if he’s the sort of player Pep would want though.
Pep has always preferred either a fox in the box, predator type of player, or used the false 9 strategy to great effect.
Why change the whole dynamic of his team set-up and playing style, to accommodate a traditional type of CF?

If Harry went to Chelsea it would be close to the Campbell act of treachery.

Kane drops deep a lot these days to excellent effect and is a great passer and linker upper. He’d be world class.

That's totally true, but City have an abundance of great passing, linking and creative players.
They don't lack for goals either.
It's in those games where Pep prefers to include an out and out striker, instead of the false 9, where he needs an Aguero replacement.
There aren't many of those around at the top level and I don't see Kane in that mould.
I might be totally wrong and Pep sees Kane fitting a specific role.

Thanks for the comprehensive reply! I guess the way I see it he prefers Jesus to Aguero I’d argue who isn’t a proper number 9 by any means and now he has the striker with the most goals and assists this season as the player to fulfil that role.

Personally i reckon City will try to get Joao Felix from Atletico rather than Kane. Felix wants to leave apparently, him and Simeone have been butting heads. He's suit city more than kane would.

He said the following to Movistar after winning the league title with Atlético:
I am committed to the club, I am happy here and to continue to have good seasons and win more titles.
I'm not aware of any problems between him and the club. The Spanish media outlets haven't been reporting anything of the sort, either.

Kane will stay at spurs. Nobody will pay the money required.
Kane must have some sort of knowledge of the interest out there for him to come out and officially declare his wish to move.
He wouldn't risk his Tottenham legacy for nothing.

What was his relationship with Poch at the time of sacking? Was he supportive or was he one of those that "downed tools"?
Will be interesting to see how long this drags on if Poch does end up going back to Spurs.

Surely a fox in the box and a false 9 are two totally different approaches?

I think Kane to City will be more likely to happen now they have lost the CL final. They were very close this season and I think they may decide to spend big on one player to take the extra step.

They're going to blow everybody else out of the water after that result. I could see two or three big name signings.

True. I should have said spend bigger on one player than ever before.

Was thinking the same thing and completely agree with this. Feels even more inevitable now that Ageuro is leaving and they need his replacement.

I may be the devil, but i'm not a monster
100% he's at spurs next year like Haaland is at Dortmund.

Aint nobody paying 150 million for kane and nobody will jump this year at Haaland while he has a buyout clause next year for half if not 2/3 price of what they'd ask for this season.

City signing/not signing Kane will have nothing to do with winning/not winning the CL. People look for these weird correlations all the time.

So if City had won tonight they would have gone "'Nah, don't need Kane now".

City are obviously favourites, but could history repeat itself?
