Hungary will surprise some and do well.
I don't think Chelsea deliberately avoided those teams, it was just the luck of the draw (happens to most draws in Chelsea's case!). Group games which are seen as simple are often not in tournaments, you have to win the matches, qualify and build confidence along the way. Can't see England deliberately aiming for second but they could end losing a group match.People always say that but it’s often not the case at all. Chelsea had a really easy run through to the champions league final this year. They managed to avoid the likes of PSG and Bayern who could have caused the trouble. The best team doesn’t always win the cup so you want to give the team the best chance. For me yeh best chance fo England winning the tournament Is saving those big games for the latter stages rather than the round of 16.
It really doesn't make that big of a deal, either way they will be tough draws. Assuming Portugal/France qualify as top 2 and Germany qualify in third and the other big nations don't suffer any shock defeats.I just think if we finish top we get knocked out in the round of 16 against either France or Portugal, home advantage or not. Finishing second in our group is a no brainer for me.
Define do well. I can't imagine them getting out of that groupHungary will surprise some and do well.
They might get out of the group! You never know.Define do well. I can't imagine them getting out of that group
That would be awesome if they did. I'll be rooting for themThey might get out of the group! You never know.
That only works if you consider Spain decent which I don’t really. I think Portugal and France will win it so avoid them as long as possible even if that is only quarter final stage. It really doesn't make that big of a deal, either way they will be tough draws. If we finish 1st, the potential path to the final is:
Ro16: Portugal/France
QF: Spain
SF: Germany/Netherlands
If we finish 2nd, the potential path to the final is:
Ro16: Poland/Sweden
QF: Portugal/France
SF: Italy/Belgium
Spain could very easily finish second in their group and draw England in the Ro16 if we finish 2nd, which makes the draws near identical aside from the SF, where I'd argue Italy or Belgium would be more difficult games.
Sure but the only reason England got to the semi of the World Cup was because of an incredibly easy draw, because England are a good side. The first decent team we met knocked us out.I don't think Chelsea deliberately avoided those teams, it was just the luck of the draw (happens to most draws in Chelsea's case!). They have 2 games at home aswell with 100% capacity. They might get out of the group! You never know.
Cheers, mate. Nice preview that. Will get stuck into it when I get a chance.
No problem. Had a quick glance earlier. Looks really interesting.Cheers, mate. Nice preview that. Will get stuck into it when I get a chance.
Those two along with Dias, Cancelo, Pereira, Gueirreiro and Felix.I feel like I’m going against the grain, but outside of a 36 year old Ronaldo, and Bruno, I’m really not seeing it for Portugal. Bernardo Silva has been way below his best this season, and well to be fair I can’t very much comment on the guy at Atletico.
My point being, I would be very surprised if they make it out of the group ahead of France and Germany.
Is everyone basing this prediction on Bruno’s form with us and Ronaldo being Ronaldo?
Portugal has a good team but a very defensive coach who doesn't trust young players, Mendes, Palhinha and Goncalves are in the team but will not play.Ibra is not going... I think France will win. Germany as an outsider. What am I missing with the Portugal, a lot predict them to win, but I don't see it.
The WC has more more prestige but to be serious only because a few countries in South America like Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Chile. I always though a country like Mexico should be better and in the Africa continent Egypt and Nigeria, a WC the winner coming from other continent but Europe and SA would be an amazing feat.Just hope this European championship is exciting and action packed.
It will never top the glamour and prestige of the WC yet I've always maintained that it's the more enjoyable International tournament out of the two.
I actually feel like the tournament (and olympics) should have been outright cancelled. Couldn’t care less about England as we are like watching paint dry and Euros doesn’t nearly have as much quality or entertainment as a champions league.Actually so pumped for the Euros. International competitions are always the purest form of football, players playing for pride, and more than ever that'll be a breath of fresh air after the super league shit show earlier.
And there is Australia,Japan,South Korea,Nigeria,Saudi Arabia,South Africa,Jordania,Panama, etc in WC to pad the groups...I actually feel like the tournament (and olympics) should have been outright cancelled. For me, only time I’ll watch shite international football is in the WC. Small international teams in Europe are only there to pad the groups out and there is only ever 1 or 2 teams that play well. Remember Netherlands abysmal display in the final one year? Honestly.
