So who will be the players who impress in the tournament and then are signed by a club on the basis of that performance?

Gravenberch could be a possibility?
Gravenberch just won Dutch young player of the season. He'd be getting signed on more than just the basis of a good Euros.

This award would need to go to someone from one of the lesser known leagues who bolts from the blue.

Pretty sure Šuker to Madrid was a done deal before the Euros started.

Unfair to Suker. Patrick Berger may be the more appropriate one.

Suker was an established La Liga striker over a number of years for Sevilla. Euro 96 made him well known in the UK, but his move to Madrid wasn't based on the tournement.

Berger and Poporsky were the ones. Not Suker.

What a player berger was. Shame he couldn't stay fit.

Denmark have a relatively easy group, so:
Thomas Delaney - contract runs out in '22 so he's a natural candidate for a summer transfer, though there doesn't seem to be huge demand for him at the moment. He's great against the ball and it's his weakness on the ball that costs him a bigger role at club level, but that shouldn't be such a big problem playing for Denmark.

Robert Skov - was signed by Hoffenheim on the back of a u21 Euros, but hasn't fully impressed there. I don't know if he even starts for Denmark, but he's shown some versatility for Hoffenheim and he's got a wicked shot on him, that might put him in the spotlight.

The same can be said for Switzerland:
Breel Embolo - amazing physical attributes, but lacks technical and poacher qualities, nevertheless if Switzerland get in a couple of counter attacks he might look great

Xherdan Shaqiri - his minutes at Liverpool make him a candidate for a summer move anyway and he's a flashy player, so it wouldn't be surprised if he generates some interest in him at the tournament

Ruben Vargas - he's shown some promising moments at club level, but Augsburg aren't really the club to shine as an attacker. The Euro is an opportunity to present himself in a different and much bigger context.

Austria have a bunch of players ready for a step up, but with little to no fame to their name:
Kalajdzic, Baumgartner, Posch, Schlager but they have alle been doing quite well at club level, so I guess they don't fit this category? Sabitzer and Demir as well, but I guess they are widely known at this point.

He was brilliant for years & was constantly linked to Barcelona even before the tournament. He also won UEFA Cup just before the Euros, ending up MotM in the final.

Surely you'd want someone relatively unknown?

Wasn’t his breakout year 2007? Anyway...very few unknown quantities exist any more. I’ve never seen Arshavin play before the Euros. From the Russian League to dominate that tournament was pretty standout to a lay person like me:)

Alabama but always Wales in my heart
Harry Wilson, great skills and perfectly suited to a continental league, now playing the false 9 position for Wales and if he turns it on against Switzerland et al then I can see a big move coming his way.

Dan James, hopefully someone make a bid for 30+ millions after his euro performance.

Spinazzola has really impressed me. I don't follow Serie A , so he might already be well known, but he looks like an amazing modern left back.

He looked already good against us in the Europa League. Fair to say he probably is a good LB/WB, but not many will watch Roma regulalry i guess

My mate is a Roma fan. He thinks he's their best player. I watch them semi-regularly and would agree with that.

Agreed on that. Will be interesting to see if he goes up another notch with Veratti in the team. Hard to judge if he gets that much space in the next two matches, if he does, Veratti will find him plenty of times.

I remember Poborsky scoring in the 4 0 win at Leeds before Howard Wilkinson was sacked.
