Way too big for them at the end of the day.

Potter or Howe is their level I guess.
The move made no sense to begin with. Conte's stock is extremely high. Moving to Spurs is something you do when you have had a couple of disastrous stints a several top clubs and you're in need of a club to try and restore your tarnished reputation.

He has plenty of time to feck up his career. Spurs will there waiting for him when he does.

Have they actually given up on Poch? Were in talks and he's apparently told PSG he wants to leave so think that will rumble on until pre season and then they move quickly on to Plan C targets and one of those will accept.

Can't for the life of me understand why Spurs would limit him to a certiain amount of new staff. They should be doing their best to resist the temptation to get on their knees and beg him to join.

I could well be wrong but I rate Potter higher than Howe, so I hope they get Howe instead or Martinez who I don't rate either.

I thought that things had gotten completely out of control for a second there

Looks like Zidane and Conte will be on the bench for the time being, just waiting to pounce at the next big job. My guess is that one of them ends up in PSG after Pochettino is sacked.

Never made sense. Conte's stock is so high right now, and Spurs' is as low as it's been for ages.

Conte will probably have the United job if he hangs around for 6 months... :wenger:

Even though that's the most reported thing, surely it's about the club not being able to convince any sought after manager that they can be competitive in the short-term.

Hasenhüttl and an established DoF. That would be better than whoring yourself out with no one buying.

Apparently Madrid approach Allegri first but he decided to join Juventus as they ceeded to all of his demands. Perez then wanted Conte, but at least 10 madrid players let the preseident and his entourage know that they werent keen to work under conte the bloody pre-madaonnas. So Ancelotti's agent called Madrid and thats when Ancelotti got involved.

Anyway Conte wants the PSG job and has been happy to have his name linked to Spurs to put pressure on PSG to make a decision over Poch. Anyway a few PSG players have already approached the PSG president and said they wouldn't be keen to work under Conte. Apparently the thought of having to train hard to win trophies is abit too much for those pre-madaonnas as well.

Spurs were happy to put out info that made it look they were closer to agreeing a deal with Conte than they really were. Conte's camp had reservations (as romano has said) but were happy to be linked because of PSG.

Source: transfer window podcast.

Personally i would love to be a fly on the wall for the 1st training session if Conte got the PSG job and Neymar was puking up in the corner.
What is a pre-madonna?

I think Potter isn't an inspiring choice on paper but one that would do really well with that squad plus a few new players brought in,

There isn't much available top managers left so they should roll the dice, perhaps Hasenhuttl also being a shout however his teams seem to really blow hot and cold very easily, their either playing some really great football or being battered left, right and centre , never an in the middle.

PSG have triggered a year extention Poch contract last week so Levy would have to pay alot more in compensation and we all know how tight levy is with his wallet.

No idea why any competent manager, let alone one with the pedigree of Conte, would touch Spurs. Its a massive rebuild + little funds + deal with Levy. If you want to win, which seems like who Conte is, it ain't going to happen at spurs. Spurs will settle for a 2nd tier manager and try to stay in top 6.

Ouch, sorry mate. Genuinely not taking the piss. I think Conte would've been a superb manager for Spurs, indeed any top club. Hope for you guys you get someone good in (but not too good!).
I'm pretty devastated if this has fallen through. We are a total joke club.

This must make for a great pitch from Levy to Kane.

"Harry, you have to stay and believe in this project. We managed to hire our 6th choice manager and the possibilities are endless."
Hasn't Ten Hag recently renewed his contract?

If I was Conte I'd just hang about, take some time off, and wait and see how Ole, Ancelotti or Nagelsmann get on next season.

I wonder if him being lactose intolerant* had anything to do with diminishing Spurs’ appeal?

As if this was ever happening
He literally left Inter because they told him they would sell key players to raise funds. That’s the number one team in Italy. He’s not going to go to the 7th best team in England and manage under the same financially restraints.
Daniel Levy as usual way over his head. Now he can go back to thinking he’s going to get Poch back or perhaps try for Simeone.

Keep your head high, Conte is a notorious manipulator. He called Levy’s bluff just to leverage his own high stock further.

If their complaints is about playstyle (Poch andJose was too different as Kane suggested) then hiring Conte wouldn't make sense. They're the same manager, one is just more outdated and narcistic compared to the other.

Lets be honest even if you sell Kane for 200 million (not happening) then half of that was ging to have to go towards servicing the new stadium that no fans have been in for a whole year. In many ways their problems are very similar to ourselves and Arsenals. Basically they can't keep up with what City and Chelsea can do and but for the odd Klopp then these are the two clubs who will dominate the League for years to come unless one club happens upon a golden era of youth players akin to what ourselves and Barca produced in the last 20 years.

I’m quite glad. I think he’d make Spurs threatening.

Some people on this forum horrendously underestimate the man.
Agree, Conte is quality, if an oddball powder keg that can explode at any given moment.

So who is left for Spurs, Nuno? Potter? Howe? Parker? All of these a big step down from Conte.

Both his CMs had to get up and down in the system and cover a lot of ground. It certainly wasn’t a natural fit for Matic but he got the job done.

In any case, to win the PL easily with that first eleven so early on was impressive. There were obvious gaps in the squad and players were asked to do things they wouldn’t normally do, but players like Alonso and Moses ended up performing very well and having their best seasons in his system. He can make things work and there will be a few players in that Spurs squad that he will get a whole other level out of.

Kane is a better all round footballer than Costa and I think he can play as a physical nine. He is a lot more physical and, at times, dirty, than the media would have you believe. I think he can mix it up and be the physical number 9 that Conte needs.

Son is no Hazard, but he is lively and energetic and they have had a great partnership in poor teams and poor seasons. There is no reason to believe that they couldn’t produce under Conte. They are two very well rounded and flexible players.

They are a few signings away from having a team that wouldn’t be far off that Chelsea team. If the goal is top 4 and not a title, I fancy him to get it done. He is a machine in the league and won’t take the job if he doesn’t think he will have what he needs.
Moot point now, but I will need input.

Matic was never that energetic go up and down the pitch. He sits in front of their backline under Mourinho and Conte.

They benefit from not being in Europe. I and few other predicted Conte's Chelsea would struggle when they're back in CL, and they did. Their squad depth is poor. Conte's poor record in Europe for a reason.

By being physical, I meant dominating opposition CB, occupying him and take him out of the game. Didn't show under Mourinho who also favors dirty, physical forward. It's wishful thinking Kane would become one, where it's clear he's not heat type.

Son is very good with instinct finishing when being released to run behind the defense. Beside that, he offers very little during build up, and wing play. The so called partnership is more about Kane added another dimension to his game, feeding Son. Once Son lost form during the season, Kane just focused in scoring, and doesn't really benefit from Son, who I very underwhelming, feeding him.

Conte wants to win badly. He works for his own ambition. He's not the type that enjoy finishing top4 even if his boss says so. He would demand resource to build a team to win.

There's still a possibility that Spurs cave into Conte's demands.

Why don’t Spurs go for that Ajax manager?

Conte would obviously be better but still if it doesn’t work out maybe the Ajax one won’t be bad.

However if the Ajax manager fails at Spurs then I don’t necessarily see him doing well in the future.
