Manchester United win the race for highly-rated coach Justin Cochrane, as he leaves the England youth set-up to become head of player development at Old Trafford despite emerging as a front-runner for the vacant under-21 job
  • Man United have won the race to appoint highly-rated coach Justin Cochrane
  • The former Spurs academy boss is set to be their head of youth development
  • Cochrane was in line to be England U21 boss after impressing in stint with U17s
  • A number of clubs were interest in his services but United pounced for him

United will appoint Cochrane as their new head of player development and coaching, tempting him away from the FA after three years in the England youth setup.

Cochrane had been in the running for the England under-21 job having joined the FA from Tottenham and progressed through their system, coaching the under-15s, 16s and then 17s.

I know nothing about Justin, but I can’t believe Aidy Boothroyd is still England’s U21 manager

Replacing Nicky Butt, or his role was different?
Looks essentially the same - Butt's role was 'Head of First Team Development' from what I remember so maybe this will be working with younger players as a priority? Assume similar though. Butt seemingly did really well when you think of the younger players all on the periphery/getting minutes so hopefully that trend continues.

The guy has made his bones at Spurs. His ambition and know how of how to win trophies would probably align perfectly with that of manager Ole.

winning trophies is not boring.
You're boring. Now, do you have something else to about this appointment? something informative cause you sure sound like a knowledgeable fella from Malta?

And Pochetino.
probably. Not winning the league with PSG is horrible. I mean PSG is like Manchester United in the 90s, Celtic or Juventus these days. You have to win the title there.

From what I know he made his bones with Spurs and England. So he seem quite used in winning. I bet @GlastonSpur would know more about him.

All I know is that the team that he made his bones with had never won the title when he was around and probably they never will. TBF the same can be said about our manager (as manager)
That's very insightful additional information from you, considering Cochrane has only started his managerial career in the latter half of 2019. And Yes, getting world class manager with proven track record of winning titles had done wonder for us in the past. I sure missed the days when proven managers like LvG bored me to death with his proven "philosophy" football or Mourinho repeatedly humiliating our club and our players during press conference. Ooh Ole won trophies with Molde too, sure you'll find a way to belittle that (Norwegian league ? LEL) but a league trophy is a league trophy even if it was say, Malta super League.

Well things under LVG and Mou could have ended better but they both won us trophies. Even Moyes ended up with something here.

Regarding the Maltese league its pretty dreadful, worse then the Norwegian league. Neither league is anywhere near to top level football.

He’s also following the trend in modern coaches; a degree in leadership and management to go along with the coaching licences etc. Potter among others has followed the route of education and sports qualifications.

that's nice to know. (I am serious this time round, no sarcasm). I am glad that we haven't hired from within or from Ole's group of mates for once. That suggest that he's really rated.

Oooh is Ole no longer our manager? Because using your very own logic he could've still ended up winning something for us, yet you've already talked him as total failure. wanna make a bet? I bet Ole to win something for us next season (dont care if it's just a tinpot trophy cause you even used Moyes winning Charity shield to dig on Ole) and the loser had to de-activated his CAF account? ;)

Where have I said that Ole is no longer our manager? We've been under Ole for the past 3 years. He got kicked out of the CL by leipzig following a defeat against mighty Istanbul Basaksehir and he was kicked out of the FA cup by Leicester.

'the loser had to de-activated his CAF account?

Also who comes out with this sort of crap? Imagine if this challenge was extended to manager Ole. He would be locked out of everything by now ;)'

That's nice to know. TBF he seem to be more qualified then Butt was when he got the job. The fact that he made his bones elsewhere and has no connections to anyone inside OT whatsoever suggest that he'll be here based on merit.
