I can say with absolute certainly Israel is NOT hoping for a reaction. That's the last thing the new government needs to deal with.

It might happen. I'd assume Israel lauched a minor attack in hope Hamas does not retaliate so this episode will end with that, and also send such a message through Egypt.

I'd say any new prime minister who has a history of promising action in case of incendiary balloons being launched from Gaza would do exactly what happened tonight.
Bennet would have felt he had to do it. He wasn't searching or hoping for it, though, as he certainly doesn't want to develop another front in Gaza.

Gaza is under a blockade. Civilians, innocent men, women are children being killed by airstrikes and gunned down by snipers. No clean water, electricity for 6 hours a day. Every few years tens of thousands become homeless. And here you have someone from far away talking about baloons. Let's see how you react to your kids living without drinkable water or electricity, let alone being murdered. You should be ashamed of yourself for having this uneducated opinion.
