We’d genuinely have a frighteningly good squad. There’s zero talk of outgoings though and we’d need to sell well to get a DM too.
Strong starting 11 but in terms of good squad, we are a couple of seasons away when we slowly add more but more critically, our academy kids mature. Then we are at City's level but grown organically.

Has anyone ever left Madrid and justified their massive salary? I'm not saying he's a bad player or that he's looking for a pay day but it's hard to trust the motivations of someone who's won everything and would be joining United to hopefully win something in the next 3 years

Varane, Sancho and a DM would be an exceptional summer.

We’ll drag out the Sancho deal until the last week. Watch varane join PSG and sign some young guy nobody has heard from.

nailed on.
totally agree.

In recent years, Di Maria has been exceptional for P$G, Hakimi has been great for Dortmund and Inter and Ronaldo has been the top scorer in Italy. All on high wages after leaving

In the past the likes of Sneijder, Robben, Makelele, Seedorf, Alonso and Cambiasso all went on to have extremely successful later careers after leaving Madrid, a few who had already won major trophies there

If we could definitely get Varane for £ 70 million this year or maybe, possibly get him for free next season when ALL the top clubs will be sniffing around him then we should pay the money now.

His contract expiry next year is a red herring.

Is he a massive upgrade on what we have now? Yes.

Potential Pogba-Varane swap deal? Both players in the same situation in terms of having a year left on their contracts.

It's a perfect deal because it saves us face from losing Pogba for cheap or for free and we get our number 1 CB target in return without spending. Instead focus the money on a midfielder that balances the squad which Pogba doesn't

Thats what Utd have briefed journalists as the plan for the summer.
And you believe anything that comes out of the club?

I'll believe it when I see it.

Also, I think getting amped for this one really is going down a well trodden path for anyone who followed the Vidal saga. Swore I wouldn't get burnt like that again!

Foden looks much happier with James supporting him on the right than with Walker.

I think the issue is more complicated than that. From what i read the issue started with Bayern refused Alaba's salary demand and he left for free for big salary with real madrid. It is reported that Bayern offered €16m p.a. gross and Real Madrid offered €25m p.a. gross, or £412k per week in PL terms. This upsets Varane who is the same age and the similar class of player. So now Varane is doing a "Alaba" to Real Madrid, asking for the same salary or leave for free. Bayern refused to buckle to keep the wage structure. Do you want to sign a player for free on huge salary but then upset your dressing room? Remember Sanchez?

Varane won't leave this summer. He will either renew with Real Madrid for big money, and leave for free next year.

Wasn't Ozil Arsenal's best player for a few seasons after joining from Madrid?

A poster above has named a load of examples but Ozil was the standout for me.

How? We didn't sign him for £108m last summer because it was too much, this summer it could be £80m? How is that over paying for one of the best talents?
Something happened called "covid"

The reduction IMO is mainly due to sancho wanting out and another year of his contract gone. I think if covid is taken into account he should be no more than $70M

I’ll say it now... ZERO chance we get Sancho, a top quality Cb, a quality midfielder and a RB. We will get sancho, a £40m CB and a rb. Pogba goes on a free, so by next year we will be worse off.

How the hell would we be worse off if we add a centre back and right back and Sancho?

Are we back to Pogba is absolute quality for us now in the mid of the park?

He is better than what we have, or having just mcFred and Bruno.

One of those players you "think" is a great player as he plays for Madrid and has this huge rep, but every time you watch him makes a major howler.

And then he signs for you and you watch him more often and you realise he’s absolute quality.

Cavani and Ibra are perfect examples of the type of player you describe. Everyone always said the same before they signed for us.
