Just found out that we're losing Tobin Heath, so after losing the manager (and havent appoint one) we're losing quality players one by one. DO we really have serious intention to establish the women team or it's just "equality" gimmick from the Glazers?

Well, are United being classy here? Giving one day and one announcement for all each single departure? I mean, this is celebrated team members of the squad that won us promotion. Regardless, its actually nice to give them all a proper farewell! United could have lumped them all in the same post.

If its true Casey has done most of the summer signings, we´ll have maybe 3-4 more departures and then it has to be 10 separate days of signings, or else we are fecked. If we had not seen the statement of Casey doing transfers I think most people would panic. And if you look on insta, twitter and facebook, fans are very upset and thinks the team is done.

I have to say PR wise this strategy of having alot of players depart and having all the papers write Uniteds womens team is in tatters for months. Its not a good strategy, no matter who we will bring in later on!

There's + and - to this. Yes each player gets a day to themselves (they seem to do the same for contracts). But it is a bit death of a 1000 cuts. That said I remember the first season the 4 departures were announced very soon after the end of the season and with no picture posts etc, Charlie Devlin played a fair bit that year. So I do like they get their own post and picture etc.

I note there's 3 weekdays left till July 1st and wonder if the rest of the exits (3 more would be around right) will go daily with then the incommings starting from July because of the sponsorship change.

Assuming certain incommings are correct, they need to start with the better ones (Boe Risa) instead those 'lesser' or rival signings (Thomas/Mannion). If they start with a small signing the knives will be out and the incomming players deserve better.

I don't understand how the incomings can be anything like sorted, we don't have a manager and it's not like these new recruits were identified by a director of football but apparently a dissatisfied manager, who was about to walk, sorted out the summer business for their replacement (no idea who that will be yet)? Rather than trying to progress, as the team has each year basically, they will do well to stand still next season unless a lot happens in the coming weeks.

What the feck is going on? Been ages since Stoney left. On my timeline, it seems like someone is leaving every other day.

They're announcing all those leaving just before their contracts expire at the end of June. All that have left so far were very expected. There's still a few more to announce. They're doing in daily instead of all together in a single announcement so it's more prolonged.

The suggestion is that a new manager has already been chosen but they're currently in a job hence the late announcement. That may indicate that they're in the Spanish league right now or taking a team to the Olympics in a few weeks.

For another example in WSL Arsenal haven't announced their new manager and they had much longer than United recruit. They've also been making a couple of signings and a number of their players have gone as well.

Good news this one, she was very unlucky with the 2nd year loan ending due to covid, she needs gametime now. I'm happy if Baggaley is coming in as a backup, she's more likely to push Earps.

Hmmm, I'm really not liking the looks of how the transfer window is going so far. I'm still hoping we've got players but aren't saying much until our new manager (who???) arrives.

Khadija Shaw is going to City - not really a surprise, I just wish it wasn't them as I do like her
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57487021

Next one, Anna Anvegard, Swedish international centre forward. I don't know if she actually chose them over us, but I do know she's highly rated - looks like Everton are continuing to strengthen.
If it makes you feel better, Anna recently had a concussion and whiplash injury and just came back from a knee injury, and was left out of the swedish olympic roster :-) We can still have Madelen Janogy on the cheap, she is on the olympic roster and is in really good form, she is 2nd in damallsvenskan scoring race. And we´ve done business with Hammarby before ;) I dont think either of these players are what we need to beat the top 3 though, but I am not sure if we can attract absolute top class strikers atm!

Okay so now I’m getting more concerned about the situation. Today would make sense for an announcement of the manager, but once again nothing so far.

All the players linked so far are only direct level replacements for those that have left (Mannion/Thomas etc). There’s no links to players who would replace those top level players that are leaving (Press/Heath/James).
It just seems very stagnant right now and disappointing.

Yep, frustrating. It's all rumours and it looks as if the women are returning to training without a new manager in place. Whether that means it's an internal appointment or it's someone who hasn't finished their old job yet, it's concerning.

That said, we do know United are good at keeping stuff on the women's team under wraps until they're ready to do a media splash. Maybe it's just a watch this space

The clubs PR-department aint worried, haha. As much as I am concerned myself, its actually pretty interesting to see what the club comes up or fails to come up with, they really have the fans and the media on the rope! Lets hope it wont be a complete let down, that would be really painful and devastating!

Well there we go.

I tried to be positive, it really thought they'd appointed a manager but hadn't been able to announce yet but there we go.

If I was the players I'd look to get out as soon as possible.

Shambles and embarassment.

Well that does not sound reassuring. If the players are concerned then so am I.
Yep. There's been links today for Quinton Fortune to be the next manager. If thats correct, and they've waited 2 months just to appoint an internal candidate, who has never coached a womens team before? Come on. They're not serious, they never were and I'm now fully glass empty.

Give it to Fergie.

But seriously, there has to be a reason they’ve been waiting so long to appoint a manager. If they do appoint someone internally and it’s taken this long then that’s just sheer negligence. Personally I think they should be treating the woman’s team with a bit more ooomph as football aside, there is a market there to be exploited which is what the Glazers are all about right making money.

Just feel like if they invest properly, take it seriously then they could have something big there but it looks kinda like it was treated as a PR stunt and now they’ve gotten bored of it.

The stable
Glazers and Ed should just let the women's team be autonomous, let someone else run it and take care of the marketing side.

Why would it matter that he's not coached a women's team before?

There is a difference is coaching men and women. But I suppose it wouldn't be a major issue if he was adaptable. But the fact that instead of appointing one of the numerous available woso managers, they're instead going for an internal one 2 months late just screams that they're not even trying.

The major disadvantage with appointing a non woso coach is the lack of contacts already in the game, the lack of knowledge of players.

All the linked signings bar Simon have been 'Stoney' types. Pre season is starting, if the rumoured signings come in there's no improvement in the squad from last year and instead a decrease of the strength meanwhile several other teams have strengthened. Thats ignoring those teams already above. With the suspected signings I think top 6 will be a struggle.

The way it's looking is as if United have decided to take a year's break from trying to compete in the women's game. I doubt it's just finance, it feels more like there's no one in United management actually spending any time on it.

I think Casey got us into contention before anyone expected, and United aren't ready for it. It's an awful situation since we really were starting to build up a bit of momentum and now it looks like we're just willing to give up.

To make matters worse, it's crap timing in a business sense as well. The Women's Euros are being held in England next year and there will be a real buzz around that. The league is moving onto a Sky/BBC broadcasting plan which will also be a big deal.

A stupid moment to fall out of the race, in what might be a big year or two for the women's game.

Utd got bullied into making a womens team, I can't say I'm surprised to hear its having a few problems.
Utd can't throw money at it like City and unless they make top 4 I can't see its worth doing, money wise.

This has been rumoured since January. Good signing and hopefully the proper announcement is next week.

There are two girls on the right side of Millie, do you need both names or only the one furthest on the right?

Interesting first post on the boards, welcome!
Just the girl furthest on the right please.

Thankyou for the welcome :)
