Seriously? He's good at going to the ground to tackle, what else?
?????

9 out of 10 times AWB first touch is amazing.

He got explosive acceleration and long strides, making it difficult to defend against.

His final delivery has improved, better than his CP days.

His man marking can be better, but he is already putting many top wingers to shame.

This is what agenda is like, only see AWB as the "bambi on ice" stigma.

I see no point in Trippier except for maybe the set piece plays and I still expect Bruno and Rashford to be in charge of those.

We have a decent back up options in Dalot, Laird, Williams.

If you're going to go and get a proper offensive RB, go for it. Tripper though just seems like a waste of funds that I worry will take away from our ability to address the middle of the park which is a more pressing issue

I see this as a move that could suggest a back 3 with AWB playing at RCB.

Only issue is we have too many forward players, it may be an option in certain type of games.

That's never happening.

He's so poor at defending the back post. Also goes to ground far too often to ever be a CB really.

I agree. Trippier will be like Telles. An option who’ll probably play in less than half the games or if he does take over it’ll be for a season or two tops and AWB will eventually reclaim the place. He was simply playing way too much to be getting up down all game every game. This is a sensible transfer. He isn’t long term. Doesn’t cost a bomb. Gives us something a bit different. Allows us rotate AWB without a drop off. Doesn’t block the youth. He ticks a lot of boxes.

I agree. Adding him to the squad wouldnt have a big impact. AWB is also always available to play. Either go for a completely different player than AWB (attacking FB) or buy a proper DM. Nothing in between. We dont have unlimited funds.

Trippier’s style of play will benefit Sancho more presently.

Im a huge AWB fan, think his attacking game has improved so much since he joined but Trippier is currently better in that aspect. Will add more fluency to our attacking play IMO. Not to mention, he seems like a good sort to have around, the right mentality.

I’d prioritise a CB or CM (if Pogba leaves) first though.

Why don't we just buy Aarons and make Williams part of the deal?
Apparently clubs are interested in taking him on loan so he is in demand.

If we are still going to play with 2 sitting midfielder this season which seems more likely, buffing the wings with more attacking full backs seems logical.

Maybe, it is what Ole is trying. And, it will give AWB something to improve his attacking play to another level.

We don't seem to be addressing DM/CM area this season. Therefore, I am ok with this transfer.

Trippier can play LB/RB or either WB.

He's much more experienced than any of our back up options and is of the required standard to replace Shaw/AWB as necessary with very little drop off in quality. In AWB case some would say as it stands he'd certainly be an improvement going forward.

It's a good signing at that price in my opinion. La Liga team of the season and a good Euros. Still got plenty to offer.

What has changed on this? Has Atletico suddenly lowered his price or something? I haven't been following since the last time I heard they were demanding 40m for him or something.
He's willing to push for move and the earlier claims that he had 2 years left on his deal have been debunked he indeed has ONE year left.

A fee of around £18m will be required to prise him away from Atletico.

Both deals (Trips/Varane) are all but complete with announcements expected towards the end of next week.

Dalot, young good attacking international right back shouldn't be hard to shift for a decent amount, unless Woody went amok wage wise when he signed him. Yeah, what am I thinking, of course he did that.

I want him here not because he is better than Wan Bissaka but more because wan Bissaka can learn from competing with him.

Southgate after surprisingly playing Trippier against Croatia:

“What Kieran has, firstly, is hugely underestimated. People are still seeing the lad that was at Spurs a couple of years ago and not the defensive animal that has grown at Atlético Madrid, trusted by one of the best and most successful coaches in the world.
He gets his distances right on cover, he’s good one-v-one to stop crosses and his talking is really good."

I haven't seen him for AM, has he been really good there? I suppose he must've been, being in the first XI for the Champions.

Yeah I’ve been wondering that. There’s more than one way to skin a cat, and having a Shaw equivalent on the right might be the easiest way to get more creativity in the middle third, even at the expense of losing AWB’s ace tacking.

AWB actually played the most minutes last season — around 500 more than Rashford, and about 100-200 more than Bruno and Maguire. He’s one that gets missed out a bit when we raise concerns about others being run into the ground.

Thankfully he got some much needed rest this summer, but Trippier will be a great addition. Not only does his excel at traits Wan Bissaka doesn’t, he’ll provide much needed rotation. Ole [quite rightly] doesn’t rate either Dalot or Williams.

I just dont get it. I think he would be a brilliant signing as cover for WB but realistically after winning the league with AM and being an seasoned pro both in the Prem and as an England International (he is not a young player or a player that has only proven themselves in a lesser league for example) is he just coming to be a bench player? If not then are we benching WB? Our 50 mill RB that has played most games last season? Im all for really good squad depth but there needs to be a clear number 1 and number 2 in each position. Its not like Telles at all. Everyone knew Shaw was number 1 but Telles had an opportunity to take his place if he proved himself. Is Trippier coming in knowing he is number two and trying to prove himself?

If we don't sign a CM this season, that means Pogba is staying. Having him, Bruno and the expected ball playing improvement from CBs might be enough for creativity from the middle with Cavani being good with heading the ball from wings. It makes sense to buff the wing attacking play this season for that. Frankly, it was a tad shit last season with Rashford not playing well and the right side being the right side despite AWB improving a lot.

The middle along with a striker will probably be addressed next season with both Pogba and Cavani likely to go out.

This signing will just transform our Right side along-with Sancho. I feel this is a priority signing despite what most people think. Would not be surprised to see him become first choice by mid season

Not a priority and too old for this project. We need a DCM more. And if Pogba is sold we will also need a replacement for him.

I'd have him ahead of AWB from the start personally so I hope we get him.
It’s a big question, but at the very least we won’t need to rely on totally jaded Bissaka the entire season. Competition and rotation are good things
