Looking forward to seeing more of him in preseason, hoping he'll be ready for the big time soon - he's got great potential and he's already a more than decent player.

Do we think he's staying at United this season, or going out on loan again?

If on loan, where to?

If staying, how many games would he realistically get?

Forrest was where he really got going.

That's a very good highlight reel, he's also surprisingly quick across the first couple of yards, gives him the ability to pinch the ball off players as they're not quite expecting it.

Was he good for Watford?
He was meh at Watford and great at Forest. At Watford they seemed to play him in a more advanced role, performances were OK but fell out of favour when new manager came in. Forest played him deeper and their fans were drooling over him.

Impressive highlight reel, I hope he gets a proper runout in preseason and is given a shot to play this year. I don't mean to compare his talent level or potential to these players, but the way he uses his body to shield and feint and open up space and passing lanes is highly reminiscent of Carrick and Busquets. As I said, not to compare them from a talent standpoint, but his game looks to be cut from the same cloth.

He's had his loan, now he needs to bed in with the 1st team this year. I'm impressed with what I've seen of him so far, his skillset seems to be what we're crying out for in midfield, I'm really excited to see how his career develops at Utd.

I always got the impression he's a bit overrated on this forum - possibly due to people being sick of the McFred pairing. I caught bits of Garner in the loan spell at Forest and he did well but I'd be surprised if he's in the mix for the first team this season.

Not trying to dog on him because he still could be a good player but I think some underestimate how difficult it is to play in the middle of park at the highest level, especially at his age. I think another full season at Forest would be better for his development than stop-start minutes here as a squad player.

Respect to the Forest fans as they really helped support him

Would love if he could kick on this season and really do well. He’s the type of player England desperately need as well, someone to control the midfield.

Bring him back and switch to 433. It's time to re deploy the deep lying playmaker, and the holy trinity, Ole.

Want him to have a strong pre-season and lock up a premier league loan for the season. He's almost ready, and at age 20, if he's not going to be in the first team every week, he should go elsewhere and play as much football as possible.

Time for Garner to be given game time this season. Maybe not as a starter, but as a sub to get the experience of playing for the club

I agree he should be playing as many games as possible next year. A PL loan would make the most sense to me but if the coaches rate him he might just spend another year here as backup to the backup (which I don’t really agree with tbh) he’ll probably get the Williams treatment and that’s not going to teach anyone anything new.

Hopefully a PL loan with one of the promoted clubs or a championship loan with one of the clubs who could win it. Toughen him up. Enhance his rep further. We’ve got to keep testing him either way. Maybe he’s just a really decent championship player? We will never know until he’s challenged.

Needs a PL loan for sure, if he stays he'll be an excuse not to buy a midfielder and then he'll be seen twice in the league cup before Christmas while McFred stink the place out week after week. Brighton would be ideal given how they play.

I am more than happy for him to go and get a Championship loan. Somewhere like Forest again where he can plug into what they are doing straight away, that gives us a pre-season with him to really see how far he has come and if he even needs to go back out straight away.

Premiership loan would be nice but I don't think it is crucial right now and I can't see that many good candidates too send him to. Palace maybe with Eze being out for so long, Norwich and Brentford are possibilities but I don't know enough about the business they have done in this window. Watford is obviously a non-starter. Outside shout of Burnley given they seem allergic to spending money.

Southgate won't play him until he's forced to by injuries.
Grealish was the best English player in the Euros and he had him off the bench because he's not one of his favourites.
Grealish didn't fit with Southgate's ultra-conservatism/pragmatism - rightly or wrongly.
If Garner becomes a substantial United first teamer/Squad Rotator and plays a deeper screening/forward-passing tempo role, he could really be more useful in a two of either Phillips or Rice.

Love the range of passing and seems to have good balance and strength too.

think Norwich got Gilmour from Chelsea. Newcastle gave Willock a lot of time in midfield - maybe Garner could go there.

Hope he will be assertive, played it very safe before when he got the chance but he's got the quality. Would be sad to see Garner and Laird not make it here.

If he could do a Rashford and suddenly come good for the first team much earlier than expected, it could do wonders for our season. He's the exact kind of midfielder we are missing - comfortable as the deepest-lying, and both intelligent and aggressive when defending, but also a true playmaker with the passing range, vision and composure to make a midfield tick. Basically, Xabi Alonso.

By all accounts, there simply isn't a player like that on the market this summer. I see no reason why we shouldn't give Garner a real shot.

Excited to see Garner this year. Did well on loan last year. Maybe he could be our Mason Mount- very different players, but prem ready after a loan in the Championship.
He'll almost certainly go on loan again, but there's hope for the season after IMO
