I'm just enjoying watching us play, won't be taking anything from this game, it's the 1st pre season for goodness sake, means sweet feck all ultimately.

We're playing only 3 first teamers, if you count Mata in, who barely had a look in last season. Am I wrong to think these games should be to have 1st teamers up to speed when season starts? Was expecting at least 5-6 1st team players for this, but it's mostly kids/players who're either staying in reserves or going on loan next season. Seems like an exhibition match, what's the fecking point.

Any defender that plays for Atletico Madrid needs to know how to defend
Has a proven record at Spuds for not being a very good defender. I don't see any improvement, he's good going forward, isn't great at defending and isn't good in the air.

yea, think we had that immense pre season under van Gaal where we beate EVERYONE (including Real Madrid) and got to November and lost against just about every prem team going. It literally means fitness and that's about it.

I'm quite excited by the bench. Not surprised we're struggling either with a midfield of Ethan Laird and James Garner either. Laird was a right wing back for MK Dons I believe, what's he doing in the middle of the park? Anyone tell me how he's looked?

I’m guessing this game is being used to see which of our kids Wazza wants to take on loan…..or eat.

Quite obviously we are taking a look at some of them to see who could be ready for the first team

About 70% of the squad is on holiday after the Euros, the rest of the senior squad that is still with the team are going to come on in the second half - as preseason has been, since, like forever.

Have you actually watched him at Atletico to be able to see any improvement?

To be honest, given how hot it is, i'm not really expecting any exciting football. Not sure us English lads can play decent attacking football when its 29 degrees.

I'm personally dreading going out for a run later, let alone playing football.

Lots of slagging off Rooney for his physique in here which I find a bit strange. To me he still looks in good enough shape to play and you never know when the Lions might need another prop.

I would like to know Wan Bissaka's brain process when he decided this is going to be a good haircut.

Supports
Mejbri
So we're playing without a striker, with Mason out on the right.

I assume once Mejbri comes on he'll look a few levels above the rest.

AWB and Mengi been a bit ropey.
