Great signing! He has always been one of my most wanted CB whom I thought there’s no chance for him coming here. What a great summer with Sancho and Varane, 2 of the best player in their respective position.

Oh for feck sake, I know we're all giddy but come on. A 4 time Champions League and World Cup winner isn't getting starry-eyed about playing under Solskjaer.

The club holds an allure for him, sure, and the money also.
Why not?

Maybe it occurs to seasoned professionals how good of a manager Ole and not some armchair manager like you or I?

Massive signing for a massive club, been nice to see we can still attract some of the best players in Europe and credit to Ole for developing a promising football project.

Maguire + Varane should be one of if not the best backline pairing the league once they get a good feel and understanding for each other.

Been a pleasant surprise seeing the club moving efficiently and with urgency in the market. Like a serious club for a change

HUGE HUGE signing. Feels bigger than the Sancho signing, probably because we knew for a long time that Sancho was coming but only started to believe in Varane deal a few weeks ago.
I feel this really changes a lot of things. On paper we now have a very strong defence with what should be the best CB partnership since Vidic and Rio. Both Harry and Rafa are 28, in their prime. Will only be in their prime for next couple of years and then hopefully at very high level for a couple of years afterwards. I feel that as a club we really have to target and win the big trophy’s in the 4 year window.

I think this will have a bearing on other transfer now too and I wonder if it’s why we are now being linked to mids like Neves and Saul. We need players that are going to be at the peak of their powers while we have this defence behind them.
Also I’m more confident that we will get more players in both in this window and next summer. There’s no point in taking another 3,years to complete the rebuild if our world class CB,s are ageing at that stage.
Very exciting times.

For all we know he likes Ole because Ole talked to him with respect and has shown that he wants him. What’s wrong with that? Actually it’s a nice change

Is this the signing that paves the way for a more balanced middle 3? Will he trust this two now and play only one of McFred in most games?

Perry Groves (think Micky Thomas free kick for Wrexham in 92) and Jordan Jarrett Bryan (ex Channel 4 Sports News person)
Only know about the latter because he's sometimes on Guardian Football Weekly podcast. Half his takes are awful.

Gladly filling up a bowl here, spoon in hand.

Never in a million years think we'd pull this off.

And the main thing I failed to appreciate was Varanes obvious genuine desire to join Utd, obviously wages are probably a factor, but the guys spent 10 years at Real and won the lot in that time, whatever way you look at it he could comfortably have stayed there and still earned a shed load of cash.

But he's chosen to move to a club that's a sleeping giant, a reasonably big risk in terms of his legacy in the game.

I don't really care what his salary is, it's not comparable to the Sanchez deal, if another player references his wages the answer is pretty easy - once you've won the world Cup and 4 CLs come back to us and we'll chat.

To get him for the reported fees is unreal.

And with that, the bowl is full, time to chow down.
Unlucky, I've had a calm three weeks knowing this one was in the bag.

Why not? Ole clearly has the ability to motivate this group of players, everyone looks very happy to be here and playing under him and he never says anything bad about his squad in public and has the club on an upward trajectory. As a player, all of those things are appealing, especially the environment in and around the club.

I've finally caught up and I thought I'd seen all the tweets but where has this €10m signing on bonus come from? I know he's gonna get bonuses if we win stuff but I didn't see anything about that.

It's borne out of Arsenal fan's distress at paying more for Ben White than we did for a 4x CL and World Cup winner.

Basically, it's made up to make them feel a bit better about their sorry shit stain of a club.

Don't understand why they are concerned with us. Should be worried about what likes of Aston Villa and West Ham are buying

Delighted seeing the Club sign Varane. I think he'll compliment Maguire. His experience will be invaluable too.

Having signed Sancho and Varane I hope it's more than just some Arsenal fans who are worried and jealous.
Brilliant signing. Compliments Maguire perfectly as well.

Varane will be on the right, act as the covering defender and play the Rio role.

Speaking of, his switches of play with his right AND left foot will get us Muppets purring. Really can make defence splitting passes easily.
Totally agree, I reckon it's Maguire's hair he likes.
Complements boys. Compliments are when you say something nice about someone or something.

It's not another word, they're different words. Complements is when two things go together, like jellied eels and strawberries. Compliments are when you say something nice about someone.

This is when we find out that he thought he was dealing with Manchester City and pulls out of the move.

Bless you for trying.

Up until about eight years ago most people got it right and it was the incorrect usage you'd see once in a while. Then it just spiraled.

Why such a specific amount of years ago?

 it's just that I haven't seen such a long post from you in a while, so I figured you might have felt this one a bit.
This place is such a mess I can't be arsed anymore.

I called it wrong so I thought it best to own it.

Plus, I'm drunk, so any distraction to having to face up to the fact that I've work in 8 hours is worthy of my time.
