Hope he does well and avoids injury but an injury prone player, looking to re-establish himself while his club are trying to buy a top player in his position, going to a tournament this close to the season. Probably isn't the wisest career decision.

Will be interesting to see what he will do. He was very clear that if he doesn’t start more games, he would want a move. With Varane incoming he will play very few matches of importance. Will he leave or stay to collect the pay check?

Surely with Varane signing it means that at least one CB will be on the way out, if Bailly wasnt happy about him being 3rd choice now he'll be 4th so he's the obvious candidate to go. I think 15M would be fair.

He might be going now.

Can't say I'll be heartbroken to see him go, terrible fitness record and general clownish behaviour when he did manage to play.

He wouldn't be missed.

If Tuanzebe goes on loan, we'll keep both him and Lindelof, then make a decision next summer?

He's got a few admirers on here. I've never understood why.
Simple, Eric doesn't shy away from actual defending. We get that he has flaws, don't worry.

It's basically picking your poison with him or Lindelof. One's a bit of an idiot, the other is a wuss. I don't see a reliable third CB in either of them. And by reliable I mean "doesn't cost us points" and not "is always fit".

Ake and Laporte are so much better.

Yeah a wuss who plays through back and other injuries while some players are unavailable with the slightest knock.

To be a clear I don't think he's a wuss in real life (he's comfortable wearing dresses) and Bailly is an idiot (I'm sure he knows algebra)

Doesn't mean that one player isn't overly passive (even before his back injury) and the other doesn't make idiotic choices on the pitch.

Fair enough I'm not Lindelof's biggest fan myself as he isn't the strongest physically and probably isn't really suited to the PL. But he quite often gets stick in these Bailly threads when there's much bigger pussies at the club who are regularly injured with minor knocks they are unwilling to play through.

I could understand it when he arrived. He managed to combine high-cheekboned elegance and raw aggression in a rather appealing way. He was very rough round the edges though, and was poor in the air from the start.

I thought he was going to turn out great, but the “our best defender” comments on here in his first season seemed premature to say the least.

Because of his all action style and seems to be quite the character kind of like how anderson was (although he showed a lot more potential) hence the love for him. It’s a shame he’s got all the raw attributes to be a monster but just doesn’t seem to iron out his flaws.

People saying that in his first season could be forgiven for getting carried away by seeing impressive performances from an exciting but raw young defender back in 2016.

The same can't be said for anyone still spouting that shit 5 years later. Right now I'd say there a strong case to be made that he's our 4th best defender out of 4 (5 if you still count Jones).

Just gave away a penalty for a handball, would have been a decent claim on the cross if he was a keeper
