fuking hell....make a move to sign the lad and if he wants to move to Madrid in 3 years then so be it. We buy him for 35m and sell him for 75m. We won't know though unless we make a move for him and he could end up not wanting to leave and staying for multiple years.

We just need to sell him the club well. Just don't let Woody do any of the convincing and we'll be alright.
And this is where marquee signings like Sancho and Varane can have an impact off the pitch. We’re making United sexy again.

Froggie United, Frogchester United, Franchester United. Your pick.

I like Froggie, because of Sir Froggie.

I think this will likely get done if Pogba moves to PSG. Mark Ogden did mention a few days ago about United hoping to generate a significant sum of money by offloading Pogba, Martial, Lingard, Pereira, Bailly etc, which would unlock the signings such as Camavinga, Trippier and Kounde. But it seems Chelsea will sign Kounde.

He is 19 year old and not sure about his next big step. Nothing else to read in here. Some of the people here believe unless you grow up starry eyes about United and have David May wallpaper in your bedroom, we shouldn't convince them to join us.

He is going to use every team going after him in January against each other and sign for the team that gives him the most money.
That's why I said if it's the case we'd better stay away. It's never a good idea to sign players whose top priority is money. Especially the young ones. Most of them will never fulfill their potential regardless of how talented they are.

I had David May on my wall, and I'd still have to be convinced looking at the fecking weather this afternoon.

Rennes want to sell (or him to extend, of course), we want to buy, but allegedly he has his heart set on Madrid. Madrid don’t have the money though, so if it happens it’ll be on a free next season. Not sure if Rennes will let that fly though
What choice do they have if he rejects the transfer? What if he says I only go to PSG or Real and I'll go free next year if not. Real offer £10m what choice do Rennes have?

I think the reason this deal is not progressing is because we are unsure about the deal,i think we are waiting to sell some useless midfielders of ours before we go in for him.

Because we are not bidding on a player who might reject the move or choose to go elsewhere. We will sound out him first, if he says yes then we will bid, if he is unsure we wont even bother bidding. It looks bad when you get rejected.

Yeah, not a lot. But if Madrid don’t fork out a sum Rennes want, I’d imagine they’d possibly stifle his development for the next season - I.E. keep him warming the bench a bit.

I think delays on this deal and others are that we need to sell to raise fund for any further purchases. Doesnt mean we get him, or Trippier or whoever else we are interested in, but rumours of £100m kitty which we will have officially spent when Varane signs.

Im still astounded not just with some of the contract extensions we have given that were far from earned or warranted....but so far we havent sold a single player

I cannot see us getting much for our players outside of Jesse and possibly Tony if there is any truth in that, therefore we need to be looking at trying to get some of the big earners off the wage bill like Matic/Jones

Because for so long we as a big club have been acting on sentimental feelings instead of hard, cold logical merit.

Lingard probably doesn't fancy West Ham because I am surprised it hasn't happened yet. Martial will probably get another chance considering we have him on large contract and moving him on next summer will fetch us better transfer fee.

Don't think we have what it takes to move on Jones.

If there is a chance to sign him, hope we push hard. If we can’t sell Pogba, we can sell Lingard and James (who hopefully are sellable) and then maybe one of the difficult to sell (Andreas, Dalot,)

Matic still has a lot to offer even at 33. He just cannot play three games a week anymore. Our best midfielder out of the trio of him/Scott/Fred. Just wish somehow we can spend 50M quid odd to make him 25 years old again
He's finished

It seems this might be a case of putting the money down for the player to arrive.

It’s a safe bet at that sort of money.

Even if he wanted to move in the future, if he realised half his potential here we’d be looking at a tidy profit.

Hope we go for him. Super talented player.

Agreed. It's potentially a very good move for a player who not only provides ball playing abilities but is also very mobile off the ball which I believe is very important for a team that wants to impose their game on the opposition by adopting a higher defensive line.

I think we are just waiting to make some sales before we continue with our buys. We have too many deadwood in the midfield position and of course there's the Pogba situation. Once we see some outgoings we will see 1 or 2 more buys I feel.

Exactly how I see it. If that's Camavinga is anyones guess, but I hope it is, because at that price why not.

We have so many French players now - we are the Arsenal of the 2020ies. He should pack his bags and come over.

Yeah we need to make peace with this sort of thing. It's okay to develop a player and then sell him for a profit in a few years, it won't suddenly turn us into a selling club.

Why is everyone so convinced he doesn't want to come? Did I miss something?

Would be pretty random if any young footballer at a smaller club didn't want to join United, unless they were a Liverpool fan or something.

There’s been reports that he wants to play in Spain and is willing to run his contract down to go to Madrid next summer.

Not sure if that’s reliable or the usual Spanish propaganda.

There is no definit, but the rumours are we have been in contact. Now normally if have been in contact with the player, and they are open to coming we would go ahead and make a bid. However all the reports coming from around the player are he doesnt want to come. Could he be forced to by Rennes? Their presdient says yes, but no player can be forced to leave, he may decide that as RM cant afford him this year he would be better going on a free next year.
