left wing
1, Chelsea (if sign Lukaku or a another proven goal scorer)
2, City
3, Liverpool
4, Utd
5, Leicester
6, Arsenal

If no striker Chelsea 4th shift other teams up.
I have assumed that you'll get Lukaku, Kane will stay at Spurs and no further significant signings for United/Liverpool.

Still quite a few unknowns!

This is really difficult but currently I think

1. City
2. Chelsea (if we sign a top striker)
3. Liverpool
4. United (will end season without Ole)
5. Leicester
6. Arsenal

Chelsea probably end between 3-4 without a top striker signed with Liverpool pushing up to 2nd.

CL has little to do with league form. Tuchel boring style can go far in a cup competition but they were stupidly close to finishing 5h for a reason.
You can’t do well in the EPL with a defensive, controlling mindset. They aren’t a force in England until they can prove otherwise
Don't forget for the majority of their league matches they had lampard in charge.

United jump to 2nd if we get a DM however.

I we sign a world class CDM, then we may win it given a fair crack of VAR and Refs not being conned by Sterling and Grealish too much.

For like half? After the new manager bounce their league form fell off a cliff.
I’m not saying Tuchel is a bad manager, far from it. I just don’t think that conservative style plays well in England anymore when every side are adept at playing the ball out from defence.
I’d also be worried about their attack. They suffered a lot with Werner up top v low locks with his lack of technique and only really coped with Havertz and his on the ball talent as a false 9. Replacing him with Lukaku causes a lot more problems than he solves. He and Werner could be a disaster together.

City are clear favourites. 2-4 could really go in any order there isn't much between them. Leicester and West Ham to see it out as they have better balance to their squads than the rest.

Can't see Spurs making top 6 with Nuno as manager, I don't think he'll see it out much past Christmas, without Kane they have no chance. Can't see Arsenal doing it either, their midfield in particular is utter shite. Villa will finish in a relegation battle without Grealish.

We average 2 points a game under Tuchel. Had a few shocking defeats, West Brom at home, Villa away last game in particular.

Hopefully with pre season, crowds back and a striker we can improve quite significantly.

They were 9th when he came in because they previously had a crap manager, they finished 4th and picked up more points than us over the remainder of the season. You're right that the CL isn't necessarily an indication of league form but it shows the potential to produce really high quality performances and beat good sides and they did that while also vastly improving their league form. I said that I think it's difficult to pick between 2nd and 4th but I just slightly favoured the teams and managers who have previous for winning major prizes.

But a lot of fans on here were picking Chelsea and that crap manager to finish above us 2 seasons ago and last season as well. Again, winning the CL was a great achievement but a lot of Utd fans are unable to read the room when assessing Chelsea and their league capabilities. They have a lot to prove IMO. It’s hard to assess Chelsea when they finish 2 points above West Ham and only 5 above Spurs with their disastrous season. Personally I think 4th but a close enough 4th. Can’t see anybody being too far out in front for any top manager to be under pressure

Yes but we're talking in the context of either team eventually winning the title.

It's highly unlikely City will be shit enough to allow this to happen but if we ended up in a tight two way title race I will be confident that our previous experience of getting over the line to win a trophy will give us the edge, different tournament or not.

I think City are clear favourites again but Liverpool and Chelsea could both run them close like a few seasons back.

With the signings of Daka and Soumare, Leicester look well placed to gain top four; they've been really close the past two years but just lacked strength in depth. United back to the Europa League for me. I dont see a clear cohesive tactic from Ole like the top four teams but if Sancho and Varane hit the ground running, who knows where they'll go. West Ham could also continue to establish themselves as a top six club with the right signings and same attitude which guided them to Europe last season.

The likes of Villa, Leeds and Tottenham could also contend for top six. I'm expecting a competitive season this year.
United 5th? Behave.

If there's a title race involving City then it's there's given their recent experience in a race.

I think it'll be close between us, you lot and City. But yeah, I still expect City to win it, but not at a canter. I can see Liverpool falling away.

I suppose because Tuchel really got Chelsea going well last season, won the European cup and only need a proper striker. Lukaku could be that man.
Liverpool because they still finished a few points behind us even having lost about 8 home games as they had about 30 combos of goons at centre back.
We have the strongest team on paper

Clear gap between top 4 and the rest. This assumes Kane to City will end up happening and Lukaku to Chelsea. Relatively tight top 4, and then the drop off to the next 4 of Leicester, Villa, Spurs and Arsenal.

Quite telling that most are predicting 3rd for us. Think that needs to be remembered come the end of the season - I think the main thing this season is that we look like title challengers, even if we do end up down in 3rd/4th
The caf generally isn't that great with predictions. From last year:
https://www.redcafe.net/threads/predict-the-top-6-20-21-in-order.456505/post-26020471

Predictions from 9th-12th September (before first league game) as the other ones were too early or after the season started.

Total points during that period (6pts = 1st .... 1pt = 6th etc):
Pos.TeamPoints# 1st# 2nd# 3rd# 4th# 5th# 6th# below 6th

Wolves340000720
Everton25200029
Leicester City11100013
Leeds United3000011

Some of the posts from those who predicted United 6th or worse

If we get Sancho reckon we get 4th but as it stands I`m seeing a repeat of 18/19 and Ole won`t last till Christmas.
If we get Sancho, 5th. If we get Sancho, a CB & a left back, 3rd or 4th.

We have the worst coach of the 6, in fact we have arguably the worst coach in the league, that makes a big difference. I know you’ll say “well we got 3rd last year” but look at the points tally, most years that points total gets us 6th or 7th. The teams around us will be better this season. We need reinforcements.
Seriously the people who think we will finish above Chelsea are kidding themselves. They have a better starting 11 han us and much more squad depth than us.

Barring crazy injuries from any team again:

1. Pep
2. Klopp
3. Tuchel
4. Ole
5. Rodgers
6. Rafa

A couple of PL and CL winning managers + Ole and Rodgers.

I think last season was an outlier for City. Unless they get a scorer I don't see them replicating last season's run in the league. They will finish top 4 easily, but they need to expand the play more to score goals at a rate that will have them up there. Don't see it this season.

Chelsea: not convinced about their ability to go on a long run of games.

Liverpool: positives include VVD coming back from injury, Kouate signing, Fabinho moving back to midfield, Henderson healing. Most of the squad got a good rest this summer. Negative for me is the lack of squad additions and the AFCON which will sap them during January. Still I have them in the running.

United: I think we will miss Rashford a bit, but much needed additions in Sancho and Varane. If VDB can kick on in midfield...

Of the rest of the field, I'll go for Spurs and Leicester. Bit more guessing here.

I'll be way off in all but the league winner. Hopefully.

Agree with the bold.

These are the top scorers for the last few teams to win the title:

12 Gundogan
18 Mane
19 Aguero
17 Aguero
20 Costa
19 Vardy
19 Costa

Managing to win the title with someone like Gundogan as your top scorer is unlikely once, let alone two seasons in a row. If they don't add a goalscorer to the team they are unlikely to win the league, I think.
