Quite telling that most are predicting 3rd for us. Think that needs to be remembered come the end of the season - I think the main thing this season is that we look like title challengers, even if we do end up down in 3rd/4th
Yeah, that's it.

And plenty who have predicted 3rd probably also predict a very tight league. But they're being a bit pessimistic (or whatever you want to call it) with regard to our chances given the strength of the opposition.

It's not like we've strengthened in a vacuum - our rivals seem to be doing okay in the market.

Feck, if City end up with Kane they're near enough to cheat code terrain. So, given that, predicting 3rd (which I did myself) is hardly doom mongering - it's pretty close to being realistic as things stand right now.

I just hope that the media / less patient fans don't see us finishing 3rd/4th as an automatic regression from last season. I think I'd be happy to see us 3rd/4th if the performances improve and we look more rounded over all. No shame in finishing behind City/Chelsea/Liverpool in the current situation.

Always a risk saying things like this online without some petulant 'LUHG' type accusing me of being a Glazer-enabler or having the wrong 'mentality'

6. Aston villa

But I think it will be quite close at the top. The top 4 will finish within 10-15 points of each other.
After watching the 4-0 against Everton, I'm going to revise my top 6:

1. Manchester United
2. Manchester City
3. Chelsea
4. Liverpool
5. Leicester
6. Aston villa

Yeah, same.

It all - obviously - depends on exactly how the season plays out.

But the way I see it right now, the top four could be either a very tight affair as such - or a very tight affair below City, who could realistically be too hard to catch if they strenghten further (i.e. Kane - or God forbid Messi).

Can’t expect us to finish in top 2 now with Lukaku going to Chelsea.

1.Chelsea
2. Manchester City
3. Manchester United
4. Liverpool
5. Tottenham
6. Aston Villa

6. Aston Villa (I think they’ll have a good season).

I can’t see beyond City currently. They sign Kane and it’s done. I think United have the squad but I’m not convinced Solskjaer is that guy. Up to him to prove me wrong.

Chelsea could win it if Lukaku settles but they ended up behind us last season, despite our wretched campaign.

I don’t see it with us. We’d need a lot to go our way in terms of squad fitness. We desperately need a midfielder.

Can’t wait to see fans back in the stadiums.

Chelsea are going to be incredibly strong with so much depth this season, great coach at the helm, I think they’ll be too much for even City unless City sign Kane.

Unless we sign a CDM and a RB I can’t see us challenging, however we’re on the right track

Liverpool doing well or poorly depends in part on VVD and others coming back to the level they were and not getting injured. I’m no convinced they will, and I’m not convinced the strikers will perform. The core squad is old now.

I think we underestimate our squad. We’ve added Sancho and Varane to our first team. We’ve just seen news of Lukaku going to Chelsea which means surely we get our £45m that we’re owed plus our sell on fee on top of that? I think Ole will get his midfielder along with Tripper.

Im going for…..

1. Manchester United
2. Chelsea
3. Manchester City
4. Liverpool
5. Spurs
6. Leicester

You realise your first mistake. This is what the league table will look like in March. Before Leicester slide out of the top four again. :wenger::p

This reminds me a bit of our 2005-06 season.

United
City*
Chelsea
Liverpool
Spurs*
Leicester

*Assuming Harry Kane stays with Tottenham.

1. City 87pts
2. Chelsea 85
3. Utd 82
4. Liverpool 81

I'm predicting a much more compact top 4 but still can't look past City. If they get Kane then I might change 87pts for over 90.

Why do so many have us in 4th? Is that just symptomatic of the negativity in this place?
Yes. Apparently Sancho and Varane have regressed us and Liverpool buying a crocked defender have elevated them back above us

1.City
2. United
3. Chelsea
4. Liverpool
5. Leicester
6. Villa
