Agree with the bold.

These are the top scorers for the last few teams to win the title:

12 Gundogan
18 Mane
19 Aguero
17 Aguero
20 Costa
19 Vardy
19 Costa

Managing to win the title with someone like Gundogan as your top scorer is unlikely once, let alone two seasons in a row. If they don't add a goalscorer to the team they are unlikely to win the league, I think.
Good breakdown actually.

I don't think they will manage to land Kane this season. I rate Jesus but it's asking a lot out of him to be the first and only striker all season long.

City are never as good when defending the championship. If they sign Kane, they will walk it, but I think it will be between us and Liverpool.

Utd
Liverpool
City
Chelsea
Leicester
Villa

So far, we have the following predictions for 1st place:

Man City - 61 votes
Man United - 36 votes
Chelsea 15 votes
Liverpool 3 votes
Leicester and Spurs - 1 vote each.

I'll do a proper count up after the deadline (kick off of the 1st game).

Also, I am obviously not counting anyone's votes if they couldn't be arsed to pick 6 or put multiple teams for 1 position.

Why do so many have us in 4th? Is that just symptomatic of the negativity in this place?
For me it is simple. Among the four that I think will definitely finish top 4, we have the fourth best manager. I hope and think there's a decent chance we finish night but if I was to a betting man, I would stake my money on fourth.

That’s countered by the fact we have the best or second best 11. This manager also finished above both Liverpool and Chelsea last season so to me it’s pretty simple we are favourites over them.

People are overwhelmingly voting for Man United to finish above Chelsea.

There's always going to be some outliers.

I’m seeing quite a significant number of people putting us 4th which just seems overly negative from a Utd fan. I don’t blame rival fans backing their own team.

The bookies have us 4th favourites at about 9/1. It's not that surprising.

It will be a close run thing between us and Chelsea but now that they've signed Lukaku (and even if he performs like he used to in the Prem - which I feel he will - he'll still win them plenty more points than they used to against the smaller sides). If Utd fix their glaring issue in the same way, then I'd back us to finish a lot closer to City and properly challenge them.

If we sign a DM. Next year when we sign Haaland we will win it.

City
Man Utd
Chelsea
Liverpool
Leicester
Aston Villa¨

If not
City
Chelsea
Liverpool
Man Utd
Leicester
Aston Villa

I dont think City will walk it this year though. I can easily see a few points between 1st to 4th.

CL has little to do with league form. Tuchel boring style can go far in a cup competition but they were stupidly close to finishing 5h for a reason.
You can’t do well in the EPL with a defensive, controlling mindset. They aren’t a force in England until they can prove otherwise
This will be Tuchel's first full season and I think Klopp will get Liverpool going again. Let's not forget they had about 12/13 wins from their last 15 league games.
I think there are reasonable arguments for us finishing higher but for me, still think 4th is most likely.

Utd are the most disliked club in world football. Not really surprising to see us being underestimated is it? Again you’d think a Utd fan might know that.

Mate it's a complete toss up between us Chelsea and Liverpool.

It's not negative to predict us as 4th. And it's not positive to predict us as 2nd.

It really is just a guess.

When asked to judge where I think my club will finish, I can think logically without bias for or against other teams. So I don't see why partizan reasoning has to come into it. I thought that was what the OP wanted us to do...just give an unbiased opinion.

Nonsense, I don’t know a single person who cares about city. Particularly neutral fans.
People "not caring" about Man City is a lie that people who hate them use as an insult.

I've heard the same about Chelsea a million times from the same people.

If people didn't care, they wouldn't go on about about how much they don't care. Nobody ever mentions "not caring" about Charlton Athletic.
