You werent better than our 09 team and thats without being able to add to that side with Ronaldo which is why including the summer after isnt fair on that Utd team. Say theyre on par, then feck me why move to the one league that has a better team? He lost out on so many honours its unbelievable.
He left a Utd side that were breaking records in Europe for a side who wasnt there yet, its why the dregs of that side reached another CL final before you.
Yeah, he left a few PL titles on the table, sure. The reason you made CL final before us was the draw. Literally. We lost to the same team. Only we were actually competitive, unlike you

At most you were better than us in the first season, 09/10. After that, it's no contest. You may have had another 2-3 years at the top with that side entirely because you would have had him at his peak. We had consistently better, more talented sides than you since 2010

We were very much ready to compete right away for him. 96 points in the league in the first season. 92, the cup and a CL semifinal in the second, only losing out to that best side in history to that point...then won the title in the third. That'd be the season when you went out in the group stages in CL, and we lost a semifinal on penalties...

Thats all well and good but it wasn't Utd good. Again, 1 defeat in Europe over 2 seasons. He didnt leave a Utd side in decline and Madrid arent getting 96 points without Ronaldo and Utd wouldn't be 'uncompetitive' with him. There is literally no point in comparing a Ronaldo Madrid to a Utd without Ronaldo, thats not the point im making. 5 years to reach a CL final afyer signing Ronaldo is criminal. We literally reached a CL final 2 years later and lost to a team that were smacking you up on a weekly basis. Thats not a black mark. Plus the regret is plain as day when you temember he wanted to rejoin Utd in 2013.
Anyway, my Mbappe to Madrid point. Here is Ronaldo in 09

I never wanted to leave against Manchester United's will and I'm going to say something here that I've never told anybody: if we hadn't been European champions I probably wouldn't have even thought about going to Madrid,"

Mbappe isnt in thst situation and if people think he is going to a lesser side just because its Madrid and Ronaldo did it then theyre simply wrong.

Ouch that's a very hard one for Real Madrid, they don't have a whole lot of quality midfielders and they might have to rely on Modric a bit too much. If he gets surgery he could be out 2+ months.

2.7 billion agreement between la liga and CVC. Madrid and Barça would get 275.

It's a joke, really. Winning La Liga is worth as much as winning BuLi with Bayern or Ligue 1 with PSG or Seria A with Juve. Certain posters here can cry as much as they want but it really is Premier League > any other league in next several years.

Thanks Carvajal. Saw that too. However I’m hearing that Madrid is not pleased and thinks it’s a bad and short sighted deal for La Liga. That said there’s nothing they can do because a majority of clubs wants it.

Sure, but at least it will relieve several clubs. I am not sure if it is valid for the issue of Messi's salary limit.
Madrid will benefit from the fact that the stadium costs are higher than expected and some nice signing perhaps

I thought La Liga was the second biggest after PL but this deal is only pushing it closer to Seria A and the rest. Maybe it helps some teams in next 2-3 years but long-term it's bad however Barca/Real was showing no interest for years when they were taking most of TV money so...

Can someone explain to me what this deal is, and why Madrid are opposed to it?

They are talking about selling a part of the league to an investor. That means that the future revenue for the clubs would be decreased, but that they get money now. It is a desperate deal for clubs who need cash now.

Real is actually quite solid at the moment and don't need additional money so they are right to refuse the deal due to the future loss it would mean for them.

Gonna get what they fecking deserve.

Perhaps if they didn't feck everybody over for years with unfair bargaining deals, the league would be in better shape.

Ah okay, thanks for explaining.

That does sound bad for the long term. How long before they need another investor to bail then out I wonder.

Not really. This deal could be very good for the league as a whole: for a lot of teams, it would give them the money to make serious investments into their facilities they otherwise would struggle to do, help them out of the current financial crisis, and long term could have a massive positive impacts across the whole of spanish football

It just doesn't directly benefit real madrid

They are studying if it is possible to move the club to the premier, the denial in this moment is obvious

Mundo Deportivo is a Barcelona rag that has no Real Madrid sources of any kind.

You have to admire RM's effort to compete with PSG and City on the game "let's spend millions even if we haven't earn it". Of course, RM were the first team to do it 20 years ago so they have a know how. So happy that the SL didn't happen.

I think Florentino was speaking about football clubs in general being in trouble as one of the factors to justify the SuperLeague.

I also think he will sign Mbappe at the end of August and that the French player is the reason he's been saving his money for 4 years out of the last 5.
Never lose faith!

Am I the only one who is happy that a traditional club is getting one over these state backed clubs? Mbappe is the biggest talent in world football and will serve his best years at Real. Better be there than fecking PSG.

Why would you be happy, it has been the norm? There is nothing exceptional about it.

I'm happy to see this happen to PSG. But at the same time it is just bizarre that Madrid do this deal now.

Yes, you are the only one.

None of the Real Madrid fans are happy, even the execs at Real Madrid who worked for this are not happy.

You are definitely the only one.

Lately it hasn't been. Wijnaldum rejecting Barcelona offer to join PSG is a good example. Bayern are incapable of competing when the oil clubs are involved. Madrid had to sell players and not buy last summer to afford Mbappe. Its getting difficult to compete with these clubs with such cash reserves.
