I've had a look at my team and if I go for a cheapy 3rd striker even armstrong at 6.0m or Josh King 5.5m I can get a mid to premium striker like Mahrez.

What do you guys think.

Is Mahrez a forward? The bloody site's gone down so I can't check. Could Obafemi be a goer at 4.5m? I had him in an earlier team but got rid as I don't see him doing much, but in the absence of Ings he may at least get on the pitch.

What's your full team?

Edit* Im running out of posts for today. As above Mahrez is a midfielder. And there were rumours that Obafemi would be leaving.
Looks like Southampton have bought Adam Armstrong from Blackburn to replace Ings.

I wouldn’t spend on any striker below 7.5 unless if it’s Toney. If you already have two strikers, I would rather move to a 4.5 and beef up the midfield.

Can’t decide on Salah or Bruno captain

Liverpool are 50% odds to score. United 37%.
Liverpool have every chance of being shit. But then so do United with the weakened team…but we also looked good against Everton.

Anyone thinking Maupay over Toney? Brighton fixtures don't look too bad

Son-Bruno-Salah-Greenwood midfield 4. Might swap son for Kai or Mahrez for for gw1.

Shaw. We'll not concede and he'll certainly* assist and score.

*probably

Salah has history of scoring against Norwich

Its always a gamble for the first few games anyway. Apart from the usual big players, you cant see who's going to start well. There's always a surprise package that starts racking up points too. Leagues aren't won or lost in the first few weeks so just set it, leave it and see what happens.
Sounds logical, but you also need to get on the fast risers, and if you leave it 3 weeks, you can find there's 3 or 4 players that now cost 0.7m more between them.

As long as I avoid the misery of losing 0.3m on Saliba in about a month last year!!
They buy a 27m defender, talk about shipping Holding out, then he doesn't even make the bench once. Still shocked now.

I'm extremely disenchanted with the striker options generally. Once Lukaku arrives I'd like him in but until then I'm happy enough with a combination of 7-8m punts from midtable. I've currently got Antonio - Rodrigo - Deeney, which looks pretty poor on paper but I'm struggling to upgrade it while keeping value for money. I'd like to try Bamford and Toney but will they fire any more than the guys I have? I wanted Watkins but am worried about his injury situation and Ings coming in.

I'm happier elsewhere: a MF of Bruno, Salah, Mount, Jorginho (pens) and Greenwood looks like it has points in it, Shaw is joined at the back by Chelsea, Arsenal and Wolves players and I've departed from my normal game by going big on a starting GK (Ederson).

It could all change many times between now and Friday evening but that's where I am so far.
Jorginho was someone I was very tempted by the other year. 5m, pens, top club etc.
But I found that he was basically my 5th mid, and with 3 strikers, I simply couldn't ever find a reason to play him!

I'm not sold on Toney either and the main reason for including him for me would be to have some involvement in that opening Friday night game. His expected ownership is pretty high as well so it won't be a good feeling on the Saturday morning looking at your rank if he's bagged anything. Seems a confident chap as well.
I quite like Toney. Brentford from what I have heard is a pretty attacking side. He is the main man on pens.

Championship teams and players are recently often doing well in the league.

Last season Bamford and Mitrovic started extremly well. Then Mitrovic stopped performing, but Bamford did continue.
Watkins also did very well.

I always have 1 player that I'm convinced will hit the ground running and rise quick and convince myself that nobody else will be onto him. Then hes either benched or blanking for 10 games. Had Daka from day 1 but I've overruled myself this year haha.

I suppose if you can stretch to it Jorg as your fifth mid, as reliable a 3pts as you're likely to have and a pen taker, is very good. My main worry in that scenario would be wasting one of your three Chelsea picks on a utility man.

Salah and Mane or Salah and Bruno?

I don't like picking United players in case I jinx them :nervous:

My final (hopefully) team reads:

Sanchez
TAA Shaw Tsimikas
Salah Bruno Mahrez Greenwood Barnes
Toney Maupay

Bench: Ayling, White, Obafemi, Foster

I don’t like the idea of having a non-playing striker but I can easily get a third player in there but downgrading anybody in midfield.

Greenwood or Barnes?

I prefer Greenwood but already owning Bruno and Shaw I'm cautious going triple United. I already have triple Liverpool in TAA, Salah and their back up left back.

I have both but I think Greenwood is a good choice for the initial 2-3 weeks. Rashford injured, Cavani is away, he's almost nailed to play meaningful minutes.

Big chance for him to stake his claim too. So hopefully he's raring to go

feck, Leicester close to Vestergaard. Amartey plan going to shit
Southampton continue to self-destruct. Think they will be among the easiest fixtures in calendar, even more of a reason to have strong United presence for week 2.

 the chances of them not bringing in a CB were slim but I too was hoping it wouldn't progress this quickly. Amartey may get the first game and that's it now.

I might jump off Amartey already. At best you might get 1-2 games out of him. Its another transfer waiting to happen.

Also with Vestergaard going and Calvert-Lewin back in training and seemingly available, Richarlison as well, I might put DCL back in.
Ollie Watkins expected to be fit for Saturday too.

I really need to settle on a team by tomorrow, especially with the site crashing for an hour today.

* At my post limit for today* As below, sounds like DCL is back, minor toe injury kept out as a precaution. Richarlison back from the Olympics as well and straight back into training.
Press conference should be tomorrow so expect to hear more then.

Vestegaard at Leicester will get plenty of clean sheets (if he starts) and should get a handful of headed goals

United only have a 37% chance to score? At home, to Leeds?

Either that stat is wrong, or I'm misunderstanding the stat.
