Personally I think the bigger question is how will their attack function? Salah, Mane and Firminho all looked off the pace last season.

Im wasting 2 out of 5 of my posts of the day, but this is seriously bothering me. Whats going on with the headless person in the gif? Hours later and still cant understand it. Did someone bring in a dressed headless mannequin and are using it as a puppet?!? Its body movements seem too realistic to be a mannequin of sorts...
Since you've wasted your posts I'll waste one of mine answering you. What looks like a headless man is actually the shoulder of a large bloke leaning to his right (our left as we look at it). You can just make out his upper arm where the patch of white is and as he moves there is a band of red on the right of the picture which is probably the hem of a short shirt sleeve.

If Van Djik doesn't come back to the level he was before the injury I think things could come apart for them this season and we might be fortunate to see many a meltdown. A lot hinges on how he comes back.
He was 30 last month. And his play style built around quick positioning and pacey reactions. The ACL reconstruction is notorious at really wreaking havoc in careers. But defenders need not have to rely too much on that, lets see how he adapts with his changing and declining physical side of it. But they are really one man team aren't they.

If you follow RAWK closely, it seems without fans they can't function(tm). I guess thats due to the fact that anfield crowd cheer up them more it seems. More than you any other set of club fans, more than any other players and more than you believe.
Also the injury crisis(tm) of one vvd, they cannot score goals and have to lose 6 consecutively at home. Also a trademark(tm).

To be fair, they were the only team in the country who had to play without supporters at their home games. I think the people in charge of their VAR made that decision for them, just to stop them winning the league again, obviously.

Its not fair considering their fanbase is the only fanbase that integral of them winning. Rest of the fanbases worldwide are just meh.

It's the bloke in the navy shirt holding a flag. You can see the button on his shirt move in the exact same motion as the flag draped over his left arm.

More likely to be a headless man, surely?

The balding guy top right was so excited they were gonna win he had his dick out, and when the Palace goal went in he looks down and says, "You're going back in, bud."

I just wish Liverpool lose badly real soon. There’s only so many new things I can see in that fecking 4 year old gif.
Liverpool went on to win the fecking CL and the PL after that game/season and yet here we are, finding something new in that gif years later.

That gif is from 2014..

Have they signed anyone other than that defender? Wijnaldum is gone too.. What are Liverpool expecting this season? Top 4?

Very very unlikely that he comes back as the force he was, immediately. I think it will take 2-3 months for him to get fully up to speed.

Is this not now any United fan who dares to suggest we could win the league?
 We're quietly sniggering away with that cycle but you've made it real now. Just check out the Predict The Top 6 thread. :D

i like how the baldies lost a bet that liverpool would throw it away and had to nosh off the herman munster looking one.

Looks like 3 of them bent in for a gnosh. But the red hat guy and the other guy politely let baldy do the honour.

That or they got the smell of chode and thought "fck this, I don't care how much I owe him, I'd rather get my legs broke than put that in my mouth"

From their non Liverpool transfer thread, and yes, I am bored.

I'm genuinely not sure Mbappé will go to Madrid. He'll look at the squad and the manager there at the time.
All the Madrid press hot air says Mbappé this, Mbappé that because Madrid are skint and they need good news stories.
I still maintain there is outside chance he looks at the likes of Anfield, at Jurgen Klopp and Mo Salah and says okay, show me the money lads.
And then we'll see
...
City will probably sign both Lewa, Kane and Haaland as they are able to sell their young players for 400M according to Pep.
Another youngster Morgan Rogers is meant to be close to joining Bournemouth for a staggering £9m
...
Doesn't the Bald Cardigan Fraud have a policy of not dealing with that shithouse of an agent?, probably explains the reticence on his part to try for Haaland.
you're making the mistake thinking that guardiola has principles
...
And yeah, figure Haaland is nailed on for United. Lewa doesn’t seem to be slowing down, Chelsea and ManC just spent big, Madrid just want Mbappe and Barca are broke. There’s no one else but us and Man Utd.
For Kane, £150m is a massive amount of money in this market. Would you trust Patrici to spend it especially when it seems his first choices are all rejecting their advances? That’s probably the biggest stumbling block.
Arsenal are a joke at this point.
...
Imagine signing White for 50m when Kabak is going for 10m
...
My eyes are bleeding after that Kane propaganda piece that was clearly straight out of Charlie Kane’s mouth and put right into the paper. Journalism is dead.
much as it reads like propaganda it also makes the pair of them sound like fecking imbeciles, I was half expecting it to end with a paragraph outlining Kane's disappointment in the lack of growth from the magic beans Levy sold him.
...
Imagine Kane’s hopes being in the hands of his equally gormless looking brother up against someone like Levy. Don’t fancy his chances.
Although maybe money will talk in the end if Levyvgets offered the figure he has in mind.
What a c*nt Harry Kane is, he'll fit right in at City. Desperate to leave, will go to the press (both directly and via transparent propaganda pieces like the above) to claim he *deserves* it, but won't formally ask to leave? I wonder why? Can't put my fing£r on it.
Also, telling some of that phrasing... "Kane’s understanding from the meeting was that if that did not happen he would be allowed to leave." So it wasn't an explicit gentleman's agreement then? Because when you phrase something with "my understanding" it usually means there is sufficient ambiguity or uncertainty about something. Likewise "Kane felt Levy signed off on his extra week of holiday". He felt that? What the feck does that even mean? He either had extra holiday or didn't, it's not that complicated.
It's one thing to act the prick, it's another to try and justify acting the prick, but behaving like this and still trying to paint yourself as some paragon of professionalism and honour is actually nauseating. I'd take Phil's dodgy back over this carry on
...
So by the looks of it Arsenal's summer will be Ramsdale, White, Tavares, Lokonga and Odegaard for somewhere in the region of £140m.
That's a big, big spend but I'm not sure any of those are going to be particularly transformative?
Disastrous business if they finish up with Odegaard (fine but meh and they just prioritised ESR in his position) and Ramsdale (words fail me).
...
You'd rather City get Kane now rather than potentially Haaland next season
...
Tammy Abraham to Roma confirmed.
I think it's a good move for him. He'll play a ton in a decent if unspectacular European outfit in a top league. They've done wonders for Mike Smalling, so hopefully they do the same for Abraham.
Not done badly for his namesake footballer Chris either
...
Fabrizio Tap-in Merchant says that City are ready to pay £127m for Sir Harold if they think that Spurs are willing to sell.
So he's doing a bit of shill work on the side for Abu Dhabi PR Sportswash FC then?, otherwise how could this biff know what the specific figure they're willing to offer?
So Pep & City have gone from “Impossible, we cannot afford it”, to £97m bid but no more! And now £127m.
CL is obviously the trophy they want more than anything and I’m guessing PSG have just given them a big scare
...
If Kane is worth £120 + what is Son worth because if I had the choice it would be Son all day long.
Would love to see Son in the Liverpool team.
...
Arsenal are in advanced talks to sign Sheffield Utd goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale for £24m [source:
@ChrisWheatley_]

Arsenal with more money than sense.

Oh wait, even worse, it’s actually £30 mill. Arsenal getting the Man Utd treatment of having fees without add-ons reported.
...
36.5m per season according to this.

Plus, its Messi, the best player in the world. This is not like Mbappe signing for us and getting paid more than another player who is better than him currently (Salah).
...
I don't share the optimism of posters here. Our rivals have done serious business and have improved their starting 11. Sancho, Varane, Grealish, Lukaku will all start for their clubs and should improve their weak areas.

I will be happy with top 4 to be honest, but feel really let down by club in terms of transfers and lack of ambition. Hopefully Salah gets an extension soon to make it a bit better.
We’re not City, United or Chelsea. We’ve had the same owner for 10+ years. You know how they want to run our football club. We’ve had Klopp since 2015. With Edwards, we’re world class when it comes player recruitment, transfer wheeling and dealing, etc. We are a world class football team for the last 4 years at least. This is a football club that is well run (they’re not perfect) on and off the field. Is that not enough to give them at least the benefit of doubt by trusting the process

Lukaku for £97M at 28? That’s madness. Kane possibly going to City at £160M at 28 - that’s probably borderline psychotic. Grealish £100M? Overpriced by a mile …

By now you should know that we are system team that are made of the “right” type of players. We don’t buy players for the sake of it. We buy the players we want/need that fit our needs, at the right time, at the right value. Otherwise we would rather not buy

I just do not understand why is there a need to feel let down or be disappointed. If you want us to buy players like City, United or Chelsea, then this not the football club for you
I am not expecting LFC to spend 100 million on top players. But no replacement for Wijnaldum and no quality backup to the front 3 beyond Jota is very risky and could cost us. If you're still in denial then the club has done a good job with PR, all the leaks about lack of funds due to COVID
...
So likely;
Kane to City
Lukaku to Chelsea

Next season;
Probably Mbappe to Madrid
Haaland (with his low buyout clause) to ?
Well Juve or United are likely for Haaland.
I guess the way Pogba has treated them and his agent they might stay clear of him.
Would Haaland go to Manchester United?

He’s a hardcore Leeds fan.
Yeah he would do once he has £400k a week he will forget all about Leeds !

Bayern are an option as well as nailed on titles and are always going to be decent in the CL.

How many years has that cycle worked for United in the last 10 years? We won the league 8 years ago and since then we haven’t once thought we might be able to win it until this season.

So it’s hardly a cycle is it?

"We’re not City, United or Chelsea. We’ve had the same owner for 10+ years. You know how they want to run our football club".

Only JUST 10+ years?

And haven't the others been owned for longer (by current owners)?
I took it to mean they've had the same owners so they know how they operate, not how long the rest of us have had our current owners

Hoping for some action in this thread today.

This thread will hit 1000 pages if we sign Haaland! 900 pages will be rawk telling us Haaland is just a flat track bully and not much better than Chris Wood.

I always have and always will respect Liverpool for being a proper club even though they’re our main rivals. It’s always feck Citeh for me.
