Are you saying that based on how he took his one goal? Because for me thats not something anywhere close to proven yet.
Of course not, but, I believe that the goal he scored and the manner he scored it in is an extension of the observations made about him; namely that he's composed, intelligent and technical. It's not about whether he can replicate that goal again, but rather, what the goal says about what kind of intelligent player he is overall.

I would say playing at the Championship is arguably better than playing at most of the top league since it'll help him aclimatise to the English game
More precisely, to cold and rainy midweek nights at Stoke.

Yes and the 3 goals he scored for our U23. I had noticed the composure even before the goal he scored in the friendly.

He looked like the pace and physicality of Brentford was a bit much for him last night. Maybe he could feature in cup games this season but a good loan would be better for him, especially if Elanga makes the first team.

Not really. What's the difference between him playing at say Bournemouth or Alaves? as long as it's competitive it's more important that he gets actual game time. It's also important he's not just defending for 70 minutes, we need him to actually be attacking and getting goals and assists, not being a 2nd fullback.
The difference is the coaching he will get. The style of football he will be trained for. It's not just robotic "play games". What Bournemouth will teach him and what Villareal or Valencia will, are two different things. So, the league matters, team matters, manager matters, coaches matter.

That said, I do think there are some teams in Championship that would be great, as well as some teams in La Liga that would be fantastic. I think most teams in Championship would be better than loaning him out to Seria A ;) :D

Certainly has impressed me. I think we should keep him now to see how he does within the team structure. I feel he can do what Daniel James does from the bench and to a better standard. He has a certain speciality in his game and I think he'll only improve. With both him and Diallo we really don't need James, Mata and Lingard this season imo. Greenwood, Rashford, Sancho, Diallo and Facundo is plenty of options for 2-3 positions.

Alaves probably offering guarantees concerning playing time that other clubs would not give. We are well stocked with young wingers and I could easily see this year at Alaves being followed by another year loaned out to a British club as a way of finishing his education before he is integrated into the first team squad at Old Trafford.

I don’t think you would have been able to have sold him going to the Championship after he spent half a season in La Liga. Would you rather play on a balmy Spanish evening or in shithouse conditions in some arse end of nowhere place like Blackburn? All we can hope is he gets good game time.

Probably Alavés warranted a lot of game time for him, would have rather loaned him to a team in the premier league but the most important thing for his at this moment is to get minutes.

If he is going back there after speaking to Ole, then I am sure both the club and player do feel he will get the minutes. Hope for the best for him.

What are people playing at, La Liga is ten times better than The Championship so what's the problem? I'm just glad because he will get regular playing time against good oppositions week in and week out. Good enough.

At least he’s already pretty acclimatised there.

Nothing wrong with it, he'll be happy there and used to the club, players and staff. He'll get a feck ton of minutes playing against some of the best players in the world.

Good luck to him. Shows what level we think hes at right now that we'll send him back there hoping to get 25-30 games for him or something like that rather than the premier league loans that caf members were dreaming up

Balancing act, I guess. He could go to a weaker league and have a more fruitful season with G/A playing for a side that play positive football, or he’s joining a side that will average very little possession and play quite negatively most of the time, albeit at a higher league level.

I think Pellistri has a very high ceiling as he's got exquisite ball control and the way he glides past players is a joy to watch. However, I believe this is a bad move for him. Alaves is a team that usually has less possession than the opponent, so he won't have the ball as much as one would like. He is direct and it would be great to see him in a more attacking team where he could learn and possibly even thrive. On the bright side, he'll likely improve his defending with all the chasing after the ball, but we really don't need another Daniel James. Anyway I hope Alaves improve their attacking play this season and hopefully Pellistri will play a lot and show what he can do similarly to how he performed against Atletico Madrid.

He reminds me of Mata a little bit. Not a natural winger but more like wide playmaker. I think he has some talent in him and I'm happy with this loan deal as long as he plays regular and then next following season find a mid table or higher who can give him regular game time.

I dunno why but I'm not a fan of players going on loan to a club for more than one season.

I feel like there's a risk of them settling in too much.

Was there no interest from any PL clubs?

Don’t underestimate him being happy and comfortable with the environment. If you’re confident and enjoying yourself you’ll naturally apply yourself more seriously and work harder, especially at his age.

As long as he’s a regular starter I don’t see the issue. La Liga > Championship

If he plays in an attacking Alaves team, all the good that he can develop exactly how we want him too

If he plays in a defensive Alaves team, then he learns defensive discipline which is crucial for young players.

Either way it’s good for him development wise.

What's more important, him honing his attacking skills in a team that is on the front foot, or Pellestri playing 2nd fullback on the back of a 5-0- drubbing by Barca and Madrid?

Just because it's La Liga doesn't mean he will learn more.

But he's surely more suited to Spanish top flight football than the Championship?

I honestly believe a move to the Championship would be better for him. It's a way more physical league than La Liga, so he would have to adapt to the league with his technique, balance and feigns instead of relying on strength.

He's a winger who likes to dribble at people, go on the outside and cross it. What's more championship than that?

, true as it is.

Agricultural defending. That's what people think of when they hear Championship.

And crap weather and pitches, which I think are good to gage future with us. Andreas has been sun-lounging in Spain/Italy and, unsurprisingly, only shows up in preseason (Summer!).

As Ole had pointed out before he was likely to go back out on loan.

I'm trusting the process, imagine if he turns out to be a better player than Amad!

it's not so much of a good deal, because Alevez are not much of an attacking team, it woud have been better to send him to a championship top team or newly promoted teams in the league.
I can't understand why we don't shop our fring players to other clubs well enough, look at chelsea how they've been albe to sell or loan out players to clubs, we are so bad at dealing outtings.

Not sure that's all he is but that's true of lots of wingers in all leagues. Not just a Championship winger thing.

I'm thinking he's built like Jimmy Krankie and needs the ball on the floor. I'd spare him the Championship for now. Give him a physically softer division to begin with.

the championship plays football now, it’s not all long ball and heavy tackles like you think.

Pellestri is tougher than James and he managed in the champ ok

How have you decided that?

But anyway they're not the same player and I doubt James had the choice between La Liga and Championship like Pellistri has.

There'll come a point where he has to step up to more physical football but right now given his size, build, age, language and culture factors, La Liga makes a lot of sense.

From watching him. He's got better balance, rides challenges way better. He's played mens football in Uruguay who are pretty feisty.

He's more accustomed to Spanish culture and climate, and he's already familiar with Alaves so I guess he went with a safe option.

He'll definitely need to go out of comfort zone if he's keen on making it here in the future though.
