Wasn't too bad today but he's going to have to learn to be a lot quicker with the ball at City. I'd say best of our front 4 (Sterling, Torres, Mahrez and himself) though that in itself doesn't mean much when we were so poor.

Lots can still happen, but this really is an odd signing. Dumping £100m on a single player in an area, where they arguably needed it the least is frankly bizarre.
Never really saw it with him to be honest. Good solid player obviouisly, but when people have compared him to Ryan fecking Giggs, and even Ronaldinho, er no.
In a league with Fernandes, De Bruyne, Salah, Kane, Cavani and many more. Totally laughable.

He’s a good player and this is only one game and I’d of loved him at United but joining a plastic club like City and watching him lose his cool and generally being anonymous was quite satisfying.

Plays best when there’s a team of willing runners set up to get the ball to him or from him all the time. In City’s team today he stuck out without half a team designed just to back him up, and it’ll be even harder when De Bruyne is back, since he’s the one at city that everyone wants to find all the time. He’ll get better as he gets coached and gets to know his teammates, but it looked a poor fit on paper going to City, and today didn’t change my mind.
Its not about dribbling as much as learning to do it, higher up the pitch only. His dribbling near the box was decent to be fair. His dribbling around in midfield was pointless, cut passing options and confused an admittedly idiotic Mendy on when he was/wasn't gonna get the ball.
This was just his first match for City. And he wasn't even that bad really, he was average at worst. So many shitty takes now. Let's be less short-sighted and immediatist. Every player has games below their best.
This is the confusing part with this transfer, his main quality is something he will need to hold back on, which begs the question, does this transfer actually improve them?

Seriously though, I think playing with KDB will benefit him greatly once they start to gel together. He's still a brilliant player and judging him from one game is beyond silly.
It's quite obvious he just flat out isn't what City need. The biggest benefit he provides them is a transition plan after De Bruyne, while being nowhere near as good. But they need directness, pace in behind, a goal threat. Rashford would be absolutely massive for them. Grealish does feck all for them.

He scored 8 goals in the league in 2019 and 6 in 2020. I posted this on the day when his transfer was made official with the question what he at age 25 has done statistically to warrant a 100 milion pound transfer? He clearly has talent but by no means would i describe him as the most talented english player at 25 years of age. He may become a very good system player at City. Bruyne, Sterling all developed to a new level. However, the transfer amount of 100 milion is what i raise questions about.
Grealish is a capable player, definitely not better than bruno or pogba etc, but still a very good quality player there. I think he is still in Villa mode. Pep will turn him into his player eventually.
I like Graelish a lot, but is “drawing fouls” really that significant of a selling point? It’s weird that that gets mentioned so much as some sort of defining characteristic.

Great player but feels like a stand-still signing for City. They seem to have another 150m for Kane, though, so no headaches I guess

Caf hangs its hat on every game week. I’m afraid you’ll find Pep is finished, Kane is deadwood, Grealish is Morten Gamst Pedersen and Son is peak Hazard.
I dont think posters are saying he is 'finished', far from that. Me, personally, i ask the question what he had achieved at age 25 to warrant a 100 milion pound transfer? He clearly is a talented player who can under a world class manager develop to a next level. He will need some time to suit the system and to get accustomed to the playing style and tactics.

I think he will change his style of play, he slowed down the attacks and you can see the difference when KdB had the ball. His first instinct is to create and he releases the ball quickly to keep the move going. Grealish will adapt to his new teammates, they all are good enough to create chances.
