Good news. I guess broken ribs aren’t much to do about anyways.
Bald Martial, can’t even imagine what that looks like…
I'm a bit skeptical that they were broken, probably just badly bruised. Haven't seen any official medical reports to say they were broken etc.

Anyway, good to see him back especially with Telles injured.

There's pictures in the United forum right now, does look a little odd :D

Kinda got to agree on that. If they were broken there is not a snowballs chance in hell any doctor let’s him play football due to the risk of puncturing a vital organ. Bruised ribs cracked ribs maybe. Broken ribs surely not.

I had a hairline crack in my rib once from an elbow and I couldn't inhale over like 70% without it really hurting. Unless they had him on some serious pain killers I just can't see how it would be possible to play a contact sport to your best abilities. Especially when you've got a decent backup in Chilwell waiting too.

It adds to his 'legend' of the tournament though.

It’s hard to know of course. I injured my ribs once and it took helluva long time to heal. I played handball at that time which involves a lot of contact and I remember it was painful at times.
We have a good backup in Telles, but the level Shaw has shown last year and in the Euros, he is not just very good, he also gives us that extra edge that is necessary if we’re going to challenge City. Comparable to Bruno in that sense if you know what I mean?

Looks to be continuing his great form. I know most point towards last season, but i think the season before towards the end he was showing it until his injury. Sadly, I think his injury cost us Europa League (he missed the semi final as a result).

His link up with Maguire is getting better and better.

Solid again. He adds so much to our team with his composure on the ball.

Feet up at home.
I only remembered after kickoff he was supposed to be ruled out of the start of the season only the other day.

Excellent today, but definitly needs to tone down the unneccessary fouls (and yellow cards). Shame that his shoot did not go in.

Best left back in the PL. Delighted he's come good. Clearly a good lad too.

Did the Shawberto nickname start with alternative Utd commentary on Twitter?

Testament we’ve come to expect him to be good now that this thread is quiet. Nailed on starter for club and country.

Good game but rusty. Feel like the England Euro team may take a week or two to get back into a rhythm.

Absolutely brilliant. Even Raphinha had to switch wings as he simply couldn’t get past Shawberto throughout.

Just pure quality! Best LB in the country by a distance!

He is a fecking tank on the left side really.
Lately he's really been using his strength and size to shield the ball when dealing with 50/50s/loose balls. Others would try to get a foot in or take a touch to get it out of their feet but he just steps over it and moves a shoulder in

Shaw steaming forward with the ball at his feet has swiftly become one of my favourite sights in football.
The thing was he was doing that under LVG. Then, injury and Jose happened.

Good thing he is still young and we will see him do that for awhile.

A never-nude? I thought he just liked cut-offs.

I agree that he always had that ability in him, but even pre-injury I remember feeling that he didn't use it often enough. I always wondered if his stamina was sub-par, but if that was the case he's clearly sorted that out emphatically. Another two or three seasons of this and he'll likely be the best full back I've ever seen play for us, and I say that as someone that views Denis Irwin as a borderline deity.

You have to remember though under LVG, he was still a teenager. So, obviously, his probably was not refined and still developing physically. But, as you said, he always has it with him.

True. I do tend to forget how long he's been at the club as so much of that period I'd rather erase from my memory :D. It has been spectacular watching him fulfil his potential, and long may it continue.

I always wondered, can he improve his finishing this season?

The game against Leeds, he got some great runs and some half chances to score.

He has becoming that world class level, but to solidify his place as the world's best, he needs to at least score 5-10 goals this season.

He can do it.

Which fullback scores 5-10 goals a season?
