He also let Cavani leave PSG and I wouldn’t take many over Edi right now but that’s off topic and feel we’re debating over semantics and points I’m not making.
I’ve never said I wanted him in fact I said I don’t think he’s capable of taking us to the next level however I can see the logic in taking a punt on him for the right price. I also said I don’t think you’d sell for a price that would be near what would be worth taking so won’t happen anyway. The main point I was disagreeing with was people saying he’s Championship level and reminded me of the lunacy that was spouted about Lingard
I see - I suppose that's fair. I guess my point is that we have him as an option for free and in fact we should be hoping he gets minutes to drive up his value, yet he still doesn't play. That's pretty suggestive that he's some ways behind the required level, at least for Tuchel.

About to go to Roma.

Will probably replace Lukaku at Chelsea in a few seasons time.

It definitely is an odd transfer with the buy back clause. It's a risk and a lot of money but if the risk pays off you'll lose him to Chelsea for a small profit in a couple years

He’ll bang over there and come back to England before his next deal. Strange move for him really. He could have found a PL club.
Apparently he initally wanted Arsenal but then accepted Roma just after Arsenal got embarrassed by Brentford on day 01.

Surprised they didn’t just loan him out for a few years. They probably could have got 2 reasonably big loan fees and avoided a big buy back clause.

He probably wanted the permanent move as there's not much opportunity for gametime ahead of Lukaku, even in a few years time it's likely Lukaku will still be very good.

The players have to actually agree to the loan arrangement. I don't think Abraham is particularly keen on going back into the loan system having already successfully come out of it. That arrangement would probably suit Chelsea though, but he needs to be at a club that truly believes in him.

I don’t get it. These Italian clubs will do deal after deal loan with option to buy and plead poverty but when a Lukaku or a Tammy (aka a player they can actually make a lot of money off) come up they can easily afford that then.

I suppose it’s only Villa who could have afforded him this summer in the PL. Newcastle could have done far worse? Arsenal wasn’t happening. West Ham are screwed if Antonio gets hurt. There should have been more solid interest especially given the money these clubs have spent on unproven PL strikers over the last few years.

His contract was up in two years and he would not extend as a loan player.

Also, 40 mil is a lot of money at the moment.
Yeah that’s fair enough. I guess he sees himself as someone who be starting at a top team and I didn’t know he only had two years left on his contract. United definitely would have given him a huge five year contract after his breakthrough season.

40 million pounds for Tammy Abraham? Sheesh, Chelsea are super sellers.

Think he'd of been a good signing for Spurs if Kane is going. Shame he's leaving the PL and didn't really get a fair shake at Chelsea.

Yet we can't get offers for a player that set the league alight and has one year on his deal.
Something is seriously wrong.

Big step for him. Time for him to grow into a man. Looks a bit in his shell in those videos.

Interesting move, not many young English players play abroad and he's a decent talent too. I can see him doing really well for them

34 million pounds is daylight robbery. With Jose’s recent transfer record, don’t see this one ending as a massive success.

Chelsea do know how to move deadwood.

Danny Ings or Tammy Abraham if you had 30M burning a hole in your pocket?

An academy player they used during their transfer ban, then going out and selling him for £34M, great money made from their academy. He even helped them get into CL with Lampard in charge.

I have watched a fair bit of Serie A in recent years and outside of the top clubs it is definitely a level below the PL. Tammy is not a world beater but I would think he would be good for 20 goals in that Roma team and he is the type of forward Jose likes. I do think Roma have done some tidy business and have a realistic shot to finish top 4 this year.
