The thing is, whether he's good or underwhelming, Jesse always tries to influence the game wherever he is positionally and that's still alot more better than what Beek offers, whatever that is.

Debateable but even if true he rarely succeeds, and no mate lets be honest here. Lingard who I'm not sure has ever even played a senior game in central midfield isn't a better option in central midfield than a Dutch international who has played the majority of his career in central midfield.

It's amazing that Lingard is currently being rated on his first run of decent form for 4 years and and a promising young player like DVB who lots of big teams wanted is being wrote off after his first season in a new league and country. Personally I'd rather give DVB a chance to develop than watch Lingard put in another 15-20 anonymous performances like the last few years at United.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
I don't think James or Lingard have done enough to earn a place here. It's not like he offers anything to the squad, hence why we didn't miss him even a little last season. Our squad is really bloated which is why it's seen as the right time for him to leave. He's just going to soak up minutes from Elanga, Diallo and Mejbri. players who might actually have a future with us.
We’re trying to compete for a title against arguably the best squad the PL has ever seen and Lingard right now is clearly better than the 3 players you just named. If you’re Ole and you can keep him without impacting getting a DM then of course you would love him in the squad.

Having Lingard in the squad won't be the difference between us winning the title or not winning the title, like I said, he barely played last season and we didn't miss him even slightly. Lingard might well be better than those 3, but we'll also never know how good they are if he's hanging around taking minutes from them. Sometimes it's just right for a player to move on, he's 28 soon to be 29 and has had 6 years to prove he can offer something to us, which he hasn't done as a first team player or a squad player and I don't see now why next season would be any different.

Clearly it is impacting us getting a midfielder hence the slew of articles stating we need to sell before we buy.

He will be another costly mistake like Jones or Rojo. Instead selling him for 10-15 mil, we will give him new contract.

We have a partnership with UNICEF,we believe in charity. The clowns that gave Rojo,Jones and Mata new contracts need to be sacked immediately.

Getting covid now means he would be isolating for 2 weeks atleast. That means he will stay with us till Jan. Mostly he will get a new contract to preserve his value but we wont be able to shift him because we would give him a pay raise. Best thing would be to let him go at the end of this contract

Contract expires end of this coming season. Surely we’re not going to be stupid and offer him an extension? At which point he will be 29(!)

Can't believe he is staying. He will be no use to us.

Would be much better for us and him if he leaves.

We need a DM

I think Ole described him as “bubbly” after one of our pre season games.

What the feck does that even mean?

I don't think we're in a position to sell him to Leicester or any other club. Not until January when Rashford is back.

With Cavani, Sancho, Diallo and Rashford all missing pre-season, (noting Diallo is at least match-fit), Martial being injury-prone. We don't have a fit enough team to get rid of him for the first half of the season.

I would like to see him play with Donny. Both have pretty good movement and positional awareness and are looking to move the ball quicker than some of or other players - something that in my opinion is one of our main issues and a reason we create not enough chances from open play.

Also Sancho will help in that regard.

Looked like a really sharp finish in the friendly.
If he can hold the form he showed on loan last season he is going to be a real asset for us this season when called upon.

He could be very useful in certain away games where space opens up. He's very direct and fast, he "attacks the space" very well, to use an old Caf phrase.
He was outstanding at Etihad a couple of years ago.

But for his own sake he really should go to West Ham.

I still firmly believe he would be worth more to the club as an incoming transfer fee, and we should have gotten the deal done on the back of his success with West Ham.

Part of the reason for his good form on loan was that he started every game, which he won't do this season. With Rashford, Martial, Sancho, Greenwood, Pogba, van de Beek, James, Mata and potentially a few academy players, we have plenty of numbers for both the wide and central attacking areas.

What a coward  Had a chance to switch flanks for 2 players on the right but went for a pointless pass to Pogba, who then attempted the pass but was too tired and logically fecked it up

Bottled it coming on, if you want to make an impact at manchester United then you have to take courage to effect the game, he had an oppurtinity to switch it to the far side with a bit of momentum and that side against a scrambling full back, instead he dallied and passed the buck /ball to pogba who then switched it but the moment was gone and it went out of play. Several times he just passed back and made a meaningless side balls /slowed play to pass the buck to pogba/Shaw etc, I know it's being harsh and it was tiny moments in the game but he is fighting for his carear here and you do that, not good enough.

I have nothing against him, but bringing him on was annoying. Dont think he will work out for us and we should be looking to sell.

He even looked and saw it, but thought nah, im not doing it

Now that I see more of Sancho, makes absolutely no sense to keep Lingard.

No comment on his performance, seemed like he thought we were winning.

I’m pleased I’m not the only one who noticed that non-pass.

He switches that ball in a West Ham shirt, and therein lies his issue.

I'm glad everyone thought the same about bottling that switch. He got brought on to add creativity and added absolutely nothing.

Possibly the most frustrating part of the game. He's not been good enough for years, we are looking to sell him and Ole is bringing him on and giving him hope of staying. And then he does get on and is his usual shit self.

It was laughable that we even subbed him with 5 minutes to go.

Either sub him and give him 15 minutes or don't even sub him on. It was pointless.

Also he bottled it for not attempting that switch. Have some courage/confidence.

Attempted to fix non existent left wing attack so late. James would have been much better for it.

My wit's end

It looked like Pogba gave him a shout, and Lingard went to join the attack higher up the pitch.

It was hardly as easy pass, in any case. There were a couple of Southampton players in the way so the risk of losing possession was high for the 93rd minute. Better to give the ball to our world class long passer and try to pack the box.

The guy playing in the no.10 position for West Ham, Fornals, has scored 2 goals in 3 games with an assist, seems to make it less likely they're gonna buy Jesse.

It's unlikely atm but hopefully there's a buyer for him in these last few days of the window as I don't think there's a place for him in our squad, only if van de Beek was to leave but that doesn't seem likely either.

If we didn't get an offer for him after that amazing loan spell he had at WH last season, we'll never manage to sell him. What are we thinking, are we going to renew his contract?
