Doesn’t this just prevent Man Utd from signing Haaland next year? Presuming Ronaldo will play as a striker.

The move they did with Tom Brady at Tamba Bay Bucaneers won them a championship ring, its the best move they've done in sports, period.

Bringing in Cristiano Ronaldo is more or less identical to that scenario.

One GOAT in Tampa, one GOAT in Manchester, the red part of town.

:eek::eek::eek:

Did not expect that at all. Expect the usual “we don’t talk about other players” line but now Ronaldo can’t say we didn’t want him. He will have turned us down and everyone will know it. Well done Ole and the club.
I think than means he is not turning us down, and signing for us instead. If Ronaldo signs for City now, Ole has really dug his own grave. Ole never speak about players under contract like this. Something have changed

It would be hilarious if we stole him from under City's nose.

I can't help thinking this was engineered to force a bid from us though.
Maybe we agreed a deal for him weeks ago and also this stuff with City is a PR stunt.

If he goes to City then he rejected United for our rivals. That for me would destroy his legacy.

Owen wanted to return to Liverpool but they didn’t want him. Fabregas wanted to return to Arsenal but they didn’t want him. Ronaldo going there if we want him is the biggest betrayal in football history.
"The greatest betrayal in football history" he says

Haaland is the future. We will push out Martial and James and play Ronaldo on the wing to fit in Haaland if we have to.

Nope, sorry, I refuse to get pulled in. The thought of hyping myself to insane heights only to see a picture of Ronaldo holding up a City shirt and signing the contract alongside Pep will destroy me.

This is a no brainer, we need to go all in and not let Ronaldo go to City. It would be a full circle. If he is used wisely he still makes heavy impact. The man also has 333million Instagram fans. It's good business on many fronts.

That might be whats spurred us on.
Mbappe to Real means PSG will very likely make a strong play for Haaland next summer. Chances are he'd probably choose PSG over us in that case.

Typical of United….no money available to fix the glaring hole in the midfield, but will stump up a fee and break the wage scale (again) to bring in Ronaldo who will eliminate the club from Haaland next summer as a long term fix for the 9 position. So disappointing if our interest is true.
How on earth does signing a 36 year old stop us getting Haaland?!

He’s going to be shite compared to his pomp here  MUFC - world class striker retirement home.
In a league where you've got shite like DCL/Bamford scoring goals, I reckon he'll probably be alright.
