In big games, something like:
Ronaldo
Pogba Bruno Sancho
Fred McTominay
Shaw Maguire Varane Wan Bissaka
De Gea

Smaller games, Pogba in midfield and Rashford/Greenwood come in. Sometimes Ronaldo left and Cavani up top.

When everyone's fit:

---------------------------------Henderson----------------------
Wan-Bissaka-------Varane----Maguire--------Shaw
------------------------Pogba---------Fred-----------------------
Sancho----------------------Fernandes-------------Rashford
----------------------------------Ronaldo--------------------------------

For now, Sancho on the left and Greenwood right. Every chance that could end up being the long-term solution too, as flexible a forward line as the 07/08 vintage

It might be worth trying Fernandes in a deeper role, just to ensure you can go with something like:

____________De Gea
_AWB - Varane - Maguire - Shaw
Fernandes - McTominay - Pogba
_Greenwood - Ronaldo - Sancho

If Fernandes dropping deeper isn't possible, it means essentially swapping Fred for Sancho or Greenwood and shifting the team around to get Pogba on the left, but it'd definitely make for a much stronger team if Fernandes can play the Pirlo role.

It's impossible to say.

Ole has got some serious juggling to do.

Basically a narrow diamond, which we know is an awful formation generally especially for us. It'd be a team that'd win lots of games with scores like 4-2 and 5-3.

For a more conservative team swap out Cavani for Fred (grimace) with Pogba on the left Sancho on the right.

McTOMINAY

BRUNO --------------- POGBA

GREENWOOD -------------- RONALDO ------------- SANCHO
You need Kante or Ndidi instead of McTominay to make it work

I think it's hard to say until we see how some of these guys interact. On paper something like Ronaldo flanked with Sancho and Greenwood looks appealing. However, you have to consider the balance a form Rashford brings. If we can get him firing his direct running in the channels might be just what is needed to offer a foil to an older Ronaldo that plays in the box.

Goes to show that everyone can't be accommodated. If pogba had discipline and would track back then we'd be set and wouldn't need a dm. Ole can't say he doesn't have quality players for rotation now.

Sancho Ronaldo Greenwood
Bruno - Pogba
Fred/Matic
Shaw Varane Maguire AWB
David De Gea (the best keeper we have let's be fecking honest)

At least half of these teams are completely nuts.

Who was in that Spurs side? Before my time but I'll probably know the names.
They had a forward line of Klinsman, Sheringham, Dumitrescu, Anderton and Barmby. Spurs were basically playing a 4-1-5 formation, which turned out to be as suicidal as it sounds. Very entertaining side though!

Only 1, maybe 2 players away from a very exciting team now, just need that world class CDM and another top notch right back, for now;

………………..De Gea
AWB….Varane…Maguire….Shaw
………………….Fred
…….Bruno…………….Pogba
Sancho….Ronaldo…Rashford

Subs
Matic for Fred
McTom/VDB foe Bruno/Pogba
Greenwood for Sancho
Martial for Rashford
Cavani for Ronaldo

Pretty nice squad we‘re putting together

Pogba will have to play more centrally like he does for France. And I think he may be inclined to do so with Ronnie back.

We have the same general team. I can't decide whether Matic should start more often or Fred. Matic's age probably answers that question though.

Let’s just hope Pogba now sees we have a competitive team and decides to work harder and play hard every single matches.

I would give Dalot a shot at RB, and have more attacking options with him. There must be a reasons why big clubs are looking at him, while we don’t want to use him at all.
Neves, Tchouameni or Bissouma is a must now.

DM needed but we'll only get one in 2022 I guess

Yeah, Matic is too slow in the build up, Fred has his issues but he’s faster with his distribution

I think our best eleven will be something akin to what we saw in the post pandemic shutdown spell where we had Pogba deep along with McTominay, Sancho will replace Greenwood and a fit again Rashford will reclaim his spot. The pace that Rashford provides is insane and definitely a weapon should teams choose to push up against us. Only question is whether McTominay is up to the task of replacing Matic, so:
............................. De Gea
AWB...... Varana..................Maguire.......Shaw
................. Pogba..... McTominay
........................ Bruno
Sancho......... Ronaldo....... Rashford

Sounds very similar to the way Leeds have played against us a couple times now. Which certainly entertained me.

Surprised at so many Pogba inclusions. Recent form aside, he's not in my front 4 now. Should be Sancho, Ronaldo, Greenwood with Bruno as the 10.

These fantasy lineups are all well and good, but all of you know that McFred are still our first choice midfielders, really.

Our front four will probably be Pogba, Bruno, Sancho and Ronaldo, with Cavani and Greenwood the first options from the bench.

Martial is probably finished and Rashford will have to displace Pogba if he wants to get a game.

To be fair, this is what half this thread are picking, you're just more honest about the reality of it.

Back 5 picks itself, although you could debate GK.

From there I’d say

fred
Mct

sancho
Bruno
Rashy

CR7

the fact that Greenwood, Pogba and Cavani aren’t in that is bloody fantastic, so much quality to work with!

Great strength in depth everywhere except DM and alternative RB. Obviously Rashford's injury delays the 'good problem' of how to get Greenwood, Sancho and Rashford into the two wide positions. It also allows Martial to be an option there rather than just battling with Cavani (and Greenwood) for the understudy #9 role.

It won't happen too often (knowing our luck with injuries), but what an embarrassing of riches we have in attacking options when everyone is fit!

No Rashford in the lineups saddens me. Have you guys forgotten how good he is because he played one season half injured (and still scored a bunch)?
I'm happy Greenwood's continued his good form over the summer, but do people remember he scored only 3 goals before April last season?
One brilliant performance and Pogba is our LW forever  What about all the other times he played there last season? What did he do of note besides Leeds Milan 2nd half as a sub?

It all depends on form. I'm happy we 2 class options in every attacking position. All 6 of them deserve fair chances, we'll have a monster bench every game!
