With Ronaldo, how do we line up?

Assuming we play a back four, we now have the following players to fill a front six (* excluding ‘youth/prospects’ like Amad. They’re not playing this year, much if at all);
  • Ronaldo
  • Sancho
  • Rashford
  • Cavani
  • Greenwood
  • James
  • Martial
  • Lingard
  • Bruno
  • Pogba
  • Fred
  • McTominay
  • Matic
  • DvdB

That’s 14 players for six places… great squad depth and can cover fixture build up, form, injuries, etc BUT if all fit, how do we line up?

Personally, I hope we sell Martial (hold my hands up, never been a fan) and Lingard and Dvdb and James arguably could go as little opportunities now (never mind they could fund a Def Mid)

Ronaldo is a goal machine no one can dispute that, but he is old. I hope he is managed well and doesn't automatically start but between him and Cavani leading the front line with the youthfulness of Greenwood. There literally isn't a better two payers for Greenwood to be an understudy to. He will learn so much. Very exciting options now up front. I'm putting some money on Ronaldo to hit 20 in the league.

Zlatan scored 17 in 28 premier league games with only Pogba was a source of creativity. He was 36

Then we'll chop and change from there subject to form, injuries etc. Squad is going to be difficult for Ole to manage to be honest, lots of big personalities who'll all want lots of game time.

Pogba NEEDS to play in the midfield 2. Would be a crimen to play with just one of Cavani, Rashford, Sancho, Martial, Greenwood.

Looks great apart from McTominay and Fred...definitely our weakest part of the team.

Picking the wrong goalkeeper is far more detrimental to the team than an unfashionable but largely effective midfield pairing.

I feel like we heard rumors of moving to a 433 but now it makes more sense.

Rashford -- CR7 -- Sancho
Pobga - Bruno
DM
Shaw - Varane - Maguire - AWB
Double 8s of Pogba and Bruno - it will limit Bruno but I think this makes our team better.

This is exactly the football formation equivalent of when you see a nice, black, silky long hair, very beautiful and then the person looks back and you find out its a guy with moustache.

With a new DM and a RB, we can have the following XIs

Rashford -- CR7 -- Sancho
Pobga - Bruno
DM
Shaw - Maguire - Varane - AWB
DDG / Henderson

Martial -- Cavani -- Greenwood
VDB
Fred - McTominay
Telles - Lindelof - Bailly - RB
DDG / Henderson

James / Lingard / Mata / Matic / Tuanzebe / Dalot still also available

I really hope we're sending every single one of our youngsters out on loan.

James, Lingard, Mata, Matic, Dalot, Jones all need to go.

Get rid of half of them and we can get Saul, Rice, Bissoma or whoever we want for DMid.

We absolutely have to get rid of at least 3 players until the end of the window. Preferably attackers.

Martial
Lingard
Mata
James

The 4 of them absolutely have to go, they simply have no role to play for us anymore.
Amad and Elanga need to go on loan as well as they won't get a sniff of game time this season.

Ronaldo
Rashford
Bruno
Pogba
Sancho
Greenwood
Cavani
Donny
One of Elanga or Amad
One of the 4 that need to go

10 players for 4-5 positions depending on the game is more than enough. If we get to the point we keep all of them our squad morale will take a big hit. You can't have around 5 players sharing zero game time between them. It just doesn't work.

Same as before I would imagine.

Ronaldo up top rotating with Cavani.

Pogba/Rashford on the left.
Bruno in behind Ronaldo.
Sancho/Greenwood on the right.

McFred in midfield.

I don't think this signing changes much of how we're going to line up as a team, as Ronaldo just slots in at CF.

Peak Kante (or Busquets) in there and it’d be some team. Part of me worries that a very attacking front five would leave us wide open (though we‘d also score a few) but if a couple of them can flip to quick press as soon as they lose the ball (even throw in a Fernandinho cheap FK on the halfway line), it could work

This is what I foresee but occasionally with Pogba in the middle sometimes with rashford on the left.

I hope we see this line up v Newcastle next month.
