I'll tell you something, Fergie would never ever have signed a player with an eye on "stock market value".
36 goals in 44 games last season. The rest is just a bonus. We signed a top 5 player in the world

Ok I didn't realise how fairly freaking good he still is on the left wing
He can still beat a guy one on one on the wing and put a decent cross in. Just don't be like Juve and make sure whenever Ronaldo is not in the box, there's actually someone there to finish crosses that come in.

That old aging horse that has won too many races to count and is still the favorite for the next few races to come. Yes, that one.
Ronaldo is a pure thoroughbred. Physically he is simply exceptional. And goes to prove that dedicated training and the pursuit of continuous improvement works.

But it is more than that. It is his mental toughness combined with a special type of character that drives him on.
Quite a few years at the top left in him yet.

A few other sportsmen have a very similar attitude. Lewis Hamilton and the cricketer James
Anderson come to mind. Both still at the top of their game at 36 and 39 respectively.
It is their mental attitude that drives them on. Not money but the love of their sport.

Mad how Ronaldos gone from one of the best players in the world, to finished the second he signs for United. I could've sworn he was the top scorer in the Euros about 2 months ago...

And of course he was clearly holding Juve back, who lost 1-0 to Empoli at home yesterday. Revisionism.

That’s a masterclass in 1v1 finishing into the corner of the net (something which maybe only Greenwood in our current squad is equally good at) and a clinic in movement within the box to find space for a header (something which only Cavani brings to the table).

Incredible to think that’s a 36-year-old footballer in those clips. What a player and I cannot wait to see the impact he’ll have on the entire club. Exciting times ahead, please God.

Although on paper we are a 4-2-3-1 where Ronaldo will simply play up top, with Greenwood/Sancho, Bruno and Pogba/Rashford behind him, on the ball I can see us lining up like this :

---------------Matic
-----------Fred---Pogba
Sancho--Bruno--Ronaldo

With Bruno as the false #9, and Ronaldo making runs from the left. Pogba drifting wide to the left, and Sancho to the right, with Bruno and Ronaldo up top. Ofcourse we can also bring in Rashford for Ronaldo or even Cavani off the bench, nvm Greenwood for Sancho.

We have an terrific attack
That is actually a brilliant thought having Bruno as the 9 and Ronaldo making runs in behind. Bit have a look at who you've put as the DM. The thought just ends there.

I'm watching this as a 34 year old who woke up this morning with a sore back from sleeping awkwardly in my bed, and still struggling to loosen it up. And because I've sat with my feet up on the chair for ten minutes my knees are starting to ache.

feck Ronaldo, sell him.

Move James on, give the number 21 to Cavani and then give Roni his number 7 back, can this work ?

We dont have any other DM, hope we get one like Neves. Matic played well in many matches last year. I'm not gonna make a kneejerk opinion on him because he had one bad game.

At the end of the season he'll probably surpass Roberto Carlos as the outfield player with the most official games in football history. The fact that he's still one of the best in the world is a testament to how much of an absolute freak he is. We can talk about him having the body of a 30-year-old, but in football terms he's older than his actual age if anything.

All logic and sense says he's getting to the very end sooner rather than later, but the guy is such an anomaly that it's impossible to be sure.

Jonathan Wilson seems convinced he’ll make us worse, after making Juventus worse.

Apparently his “pressures” were consistently in the lowest 2% in Europe. That’s… not great?
We're a more balanced and complete team than that Juventus one though, ours has a lot of its best players either at the start of their primes or just about to hit it whereas they were an aging team even back then. Pogba, Fernandes and Sancho are some of the best suppliers in world football and they'll be feeding Ronaldo far better than anyone at Juventus could.

When you get into an argument with someone over which United team was our best in history, he's one of the players involved. When you get into an argument with someone over which Real team was their best in history, he's one of the players involved.

I think a lot of people who are saying that he isn't the same player that he was when he was first with us are missing the point. The main tactic of "give it to Ronnie" doesn't apply here. We have an incredibly strong attacking lineup. Ronnie will make the difference more than Fernandes, Pogba, Rashford etc but he won't be the only one showing sparks of brilliance throughout the game.

And, it goes without saying, 36 year old Ronaldo is still the best striker that's in the Premier League. If his legs start to go he'll adapt his game, but he's perfected the craft of doing a billion stepovers to piss defenders off, twatting the ball into the back of the net, and jumping for headers so high that he'll be able to tell the Glazers on the way down that the roof is still fecked.

I just realized that Pogba hasn't been active on social media for a few days, and hasn't been hyping Ronaldos signing either. Felt a little out of place since he's been so active lately

the way he rises and heads the ball , this one makes me cringe as in his knee as he land could easily ends badly.. if that were me, i would have dislocated the knee just by jumping for the ball..

amazing physique and bone density...

Still better than Kane. Better in the air, stronger, better finisher, faster, better at taking a man on, better leader. He's immediately the best goalscorer in the Premier League.

He'll score about 15 just with his head in our side.

Not true.
The rise was in market cap, and there’s no guarantee that it will remain at its elevated level, because stock price increase & decrease based on a number of factors.
Market value is completely different.
Sure, but just stating the effect. Of course rising in stock price is always better than dropping or not rising.

Apparently saying he will join either United or City - seemed quite 'whatever' about it. Either he was just acting like he was still deciding to avoid people saying in the press or he really was considering choosing them over us but Fergie and co convinced him otherwise

This is the best video I've found so far demonstrating the freak of nature he is. Highlights from last season...I just can't believe he's 36.

Yet there are group of people saying he does nothing other than tap in and penalty, and is a failure in Italy and hold Juventus back. How blind/stupid are they.

So how many goals is a reasonable expectation?
He's scored 37 and 36 goals respectively in all comps for Juve in the last two seasons despite playing in a fundamentally dysfunctional team, especially last season. Even if you allow for the Premier League being tougher (which is debatable), the level of creativity in our team evens it out. I personally think a bare minimum of 20 goals in the league, and around 30 in all comps, is a more than reasonable expectation.
