Still feels mad that this has happened.

I was one of those who thought it best he didn't come back, but now it's happened i'm delighted.

Interesting, as previously there was talk about how it "could" happen because Cavani hadn't played in 7 this season yet.
But clearly he did today.

Everyone wants Ronaldo 7 though.
I expect even the Premier league do as they can cash in on it too.

Everyone saying he wont do it in the PL. Do you really think if that was the case the current PL champions and CL finalists would have been trying to sign him?

The feck are you on about Ronaldo was top scorer at the Euros…. and Varane wasn’t bad it was Lenglet that was terrible for that French side.

Don’t know how signing one of the best strikers in the world at a position of need for a cheap fee is irresponsible, especially considering he would have made our rivals terrifying if he went there
Did you actually see him play well let alone consistently well at the euros? Forget the goals… trust your eyes.

That article was just drivel. Look at this passage:

Ronaldo was signed to take Juventus, who had lost in two Champions League finals in the previous four seasons, to European glory. Instead they lost in the quarter-final to Ajax, then in the last 16 to Lyon, then in the last 16 to Porto.

He makes it seem as though it was down to Ronaldo, that Juve didn't achieve anything. But on the contrary, he was the reason they even reached that far. Ronaldo scored a hattrick in 2018/19 against Atletico, for them to then get knocked out to Ajax where he again was the only man to score Juve's two goals. Then Juve got knocked out to Lyon in 19/20 on aggregate 2-2 due to away goals - but who scored those two Juve goals? Yeah... Ronaldo. It's only in 20/21 CL, that Ronaldo failed to really deliver in the playoff. He also goes on and says:

Not only has his relative immobility, his reluctance to contribute to the press – he was in the bottom 2% of forwards in Europe’s top five leagues in terms of pressures per 90 minutes last season – held Juve back tactically

Sure. Juve's tactical failures are down to their top scorer... or... maybe the fact that Juve has had three different managers during Ronaldo's three years there - all wildly different from one another.

I'm all for a nuanced look at transfers. I too don't think Ronaldo will win us the league and you have to be daft to not be aware of Ronaldo's lack of say pressing (just like with Messi). The man is 36 and of course, he won't be the 24-year-old we parted ways with back in 2009. We all know that. But rewriting history and pin all Juve's misfortune on Ronaldo is beyond embarrassing, and that's exactly what Jonathan Wilson does.
Jonathan Wilson is a village idiot with a sub70 IQ, masquerading as some sort of transfer / tactics guru / snake oil salesman. I have coughed up bile with more intelligence than that ABU imbecilic moron. A complete brain damaged penis of a man.

If anybody thinks that the powers that be will give up the opportunity to market CR seven for the Premier league in Manchester United once again are absolutely kidding themselves. Of course assuming Cavani will give it up which I think he would gladly do as Ronaldo has worn that shirt for six seasons at the club. At the end of the day it’s all about the money. They will figure out a way to make the switch

I’d rather Cavani keep the 7. He’ll work harder for the club and - internationals allowing - probably be more important to us this year.

He scored his first Portugal goal as a United player. This time next week he’ll have scored his 110th international goal, breaking the world record, as a United player. Love it.

Think he might get #21 when Dan James leaves. Or maybe Cavani will get #21, and Ronaldo #7.
Cavani will get 21 when James leaves, as 21 is his number for Uruguay. Then Ronaldo will take the 7 shirt.

He was obviously going to get the number 7.

The Premier League would have looked silly if they didn't approve the request.

Got to say I’m surprised it was necessary to pay him so much. Would he really have gone elsewhere if we’d offered £100k less than this per week?
Have you seen that Lukaku is the second higeste earner on 535k per week?

Ronaldos salary is no problem, with all the attraction he brings to us makes it up for big money we are paying him. We will earn a lot of money from shirts, new sponsorships, more tv time, more people following our matches on TV, our social medias increased by 10% in 24 hour, our announcement post on Instagram is most liked one every (sport related with nearly 13m likes).

Ronaldo brings so much more then his skills on the pitch.

This is still so surreal. It has been such a rollercoaster ride since thursday/friday i.e. 26th/27th aug 2021.

Thinking that he would join psg to city and finaly coming to us.

I dont care if we win anything or not, but i couldnt have seen him going to city.

He had his legacy on line.

I love this.

That’s probably because he has Rio, Bruno, and others contact number or even WhatsApp and spoke to them. He doesn’t have Keane number.
Probably this. I remember Yorke said he once msg Keane about something, with Keane responding him with a “feck off”, to the extent that he never have the courage to msg him again. I guess Keane is not an easy going person to WhatsApp with.

Jokingly aside, I remember both Ronaldo and Keane has strong mutual respect to each other, even during his time in Real Madrid, Ronaldo is always the footballer Keane would respect a lot.

I believe he has stronger pull than some rot we saw in last couple of years, great example of desire and dedication to the younger players etc. In my mind regardless of transfer fee and wages, if rest of the squad gets their focus up and push themself to be on his level, then there is no downside of him being around even if he doesnt score much.

Right now by looking performances, he will flop his hands a lot at some. Players need to support him instead of expecting to be carried.

I don't have the complete context of his conversation, but surely it's naive to expect that he never considered joining City last week?

We all know he wants to be percieved as the best, and objectively speaking, City has a much better chance of winning the league and the CL than us. And if he won the CL with them, he'd be cemented as the greatest CL player ever.

I'm sure the United memories played a part to him joining here, but that would be 10% weighted over the whole decision.

He did, because they were the only club in for him. According to the Athletic, Mendes offered us Ronaldo even before that, but we didn't think he'd leave Juve.

Once we became involved, he chose us.

Who cares in the end? We got him. Is he 100% loyal to us? No, but that's a very rare trait in today's game either way.

I think it was clear from the reports that he considered Man City and that's when they were the only option (the clubs that could afford him). The moment we were involved, it was easy decision for him, at least as per the reports and how quick the deal was wrapped up.
