So we are selling the only winger with an acceptable amount of defensive workrate. Rashfords workrate on defense has fallen off a cliff under Ole and Martial’s never been one for effort, anyway. And I don’t know how Sancho is in this regard.

This would not be an issue if our pressing out of possession was structured, but we make it up as we go along. And now we have to carry Ronaldo as well. Will be interesting how we fare against high pressing teams like ‘pool, City, Leicester etc Based on the evidence against Southampton and Wolves, it doesn’t bode well.
Not being funny but would you really turn down £20m for him just because he runs around a bit? We've got superior technical footballers now, and that's the main reason we struggled to break teams down last season.

Elanga can fill the Dan James role. Cavani, Bruno, Lingard and Rashford won't be lacking in workrate either.

If he was like 19 or 20, i'd risk sticking with him with the hope he improves, but at 23 he's probably never going to turn into a top player.
Its actually embassassing watching him when he gets the ball, puts his head down, and runs into defenders. Not Utd quality.

Leeds aren't playing against a low block every week. I'm not saying he's united grade but all this not fit for the premiership is pretty damn harsh
Yeah. James has started a fair bunch of United games for a reason. He's terrifyingly quick, has a great work rate and does exactly what the manager asks of him tactically. Just because he can't start for teams at the very top doesn't mean he's trash. James will run all day and is being transferred to the runningiest team in the League. Watch Leeds start to overperform against Liverpool and the like.

I am ready to bet that the scousers will tear leeds a new one. I am also ready to bet that Dan James will pose no real threat against them.

Ha ha yeah. Excitable? Yes. Labrador? Hmm maybe he's more like a whippet. A speed merchant that could get blown over by the wind. Anyway since it looks like he's Leeds bound. Maybe he'll soon be Bielsa's yorkshire terrier :D
Haha. By the way, if we had any sense, we'd try for their Yorkshire Pirlo.

It further highlights the lack of a plan to me though - if he's not part of our plans going forward (and he shouldn't be, unless as a squad option, but we are stacked) then why start him in 2/3 Premier League games so far this season. I hope, as some have suggested, this isn't covering the Ronaldo fee, but will actually contribute to the purchase of a CDM before the deadline.
Rashford surgery, Martial played only 1 pre season match and Sancho came back late. Cavani came back late too. If those were all fit at the beginning he does not start those games.

Fantastic business if we can get £20m for him
Get it done today and use it towards getting a midfielder in tomorrow

What a window that will have been.

30 million for James?

We better be getting a Midfielder even if it's just on loan.
Murtough deserves a knighthood for pulling this off if the figures are accurate

Now to put that money towards the likes of Neves/Bissouma/Tchouameni or Camavinga immediately....

Came in to help bulk our wing options for a cheap bet, had his moments but not quite the level we need going forward. Unlike some, I think he will have a solid career in the league and Leeds could suit him well where opponents won't sit deep all the time. Never forget his emotion after scoring on his debut. Wish him luck!

This is looking like the best transfer window I have ever witnessed- if we can finish it with a CDM then I don't think this would ever get topped.

30 mil for James is like cheating on PC FM.

I thought it would be an excellent fee because its a permanent deal. There was a tweet going around saying that we weren't considering permanent unless it was a very tempting offer. This would be excellent business!

Quite sure he'll excel under Bielsa, they've had long term interest in him so I'm certain they already have a good idea of how they want to use him. Good move for all

If 30m is true, that's an incredible bit of work.
About time we got a decent fee for someone.

Was half expecting £10m + £3m add ons if he goes on to play 500 games and get in the PFA team of the year a few times.

30 million would be crazy. If we moved out lingard to fund a good DM purchase this would be as close to a flawless window as we've had in forever

That's a deal Chelsea would make when selling their players. Great to see we've finally come to our senses and acting smart on the market.

30 million is an excellent fee if true. I suspect Lingard will be an adequate replacement.
30 mil + 50k/week * 2 years is roughly 35 million saved/earned. That ought to cover Ronaldo's fee and most of his wages for the first year.

Either that, or it frees up some funds to sign a midfielder.. but I suspect the former.

I remember saying we could get 35m for him after one of his good games at the Euros.

30m is very good but not that crazy.
