Let the ABU media have it. It's a good sign. They are shitting their pants. Bit strange to see some of the our supporters singing to the same tune though.
Alot of ABU think that we are happy of the Ronaldo signing because we think of the player he once was but what people don't realise is that we know what Ronaldo is now.

We all know he isn't the one to take the ball at the half way line and run past player, even though, he is capable of close dribbling still.

He brings the mentality which is what we have been lacking. We need this winning mentality at the club, to push every player.

Exactly! That was the first thing that popped in my mind when the news broke out. Not only does he bring that winning mentality but he will do wonder for our younger players. These are exciting times for us. Finally!!!

Sinclair is correct on that, but think most are annoyed with Sinclair because he was so positive towards Ronaldo when he looked nailed on for City, only for him to focus on every negative aspect of Ronaldo after we hijacked the deal a few days later. Same with Jonathan Wilson. Imagine seeing one of the all-time greats breaking a seemingly impossible record and in the process turning the game from a loss to a win in the last 10 minutes, only for him to focus on how poor he was before that. If that is how you judge great players, then Mo Salah should be viewed as only an okayish one.
To be fair, we would have been shitting on Ronaldo had he signed for City. It's the rivalry and talking illogically that makes football so exciting. Let people criticise Ronaldo, it will be more enjoyable when he proves them wrong.

We all love United
Sinclair is a blue rag who played for them even though he’s quite insignificant during his time there, so he does not want to appear to praising our team and Ronaldo who signed for us and not them at all. Similar to the SWP who said Ben White is a better than signing Varane mainly because the former plays in the Prem before and we all know it’s boll*cks

But we aren't pundits on national TV or radio. Regardless of personal affiliation you need to speak facts, Sinclair threw facts out the window just to show his bias.

Excellent news
Bit surprised he's expected to miss the Qatar game. He's barely played this season; wouldn't have minded him getting some more minutes against them.

He was on Talk Radio. They usually have 2 pundits and it's a pre-meditated tactic to speak in opposition to keep the debate flowing and keep it interesting even knowing that's not what they believe.

Pundit one: Ronaldo was great the last few minutes. Amazing heading ability and goals record.

Pundit two: I agree.

The argument would last a few seconds if they just agreed with each other.

Excellent news.

He can train with the team sooner, meet everyone and settle in quicker.

After those 2?

He'll be the main target for the ABUs and ABU media all season. They'll micro-analyze everything he does on the field all season.
I was actually thinking this would be great for Pogba and perhaps even Sancho (just because of his fee and the long saga) as the spotlight would go elsewhere.

Looking at this site about a week ago, you'd normally find 4 Pogba threads on the first page, fast forward to now and it's a different name on everyone's lips.

It is good news for the other players.

Ronaldo will use it as fuel.

I wish they'd quit with the whole 'coming home' garbage.

He was great during his early years with us, and great to have 2 years now too. But even Ronaldo looked like he was cringing in the interview, clearly told he had to say the word 'home'.
"CLEARLY"

Love the cynicism.

Let's forget the fact that he text Patrice Evra that he's gonna play in "our club" eh?

I get your point, but I'd much prefer him to be at Carrington working with Ole for an extra week than playing a meaningless friendly days before his premier league reintroduction

If he played the friendly, he’d still have a week till the Newcastle game.

He's suspended?

Or am I missing something here?

Not wanting to be negative, but I really just took that as a reference to the club they played at together. Like if he’d been going back to Madrid he would have said “our club” to a former Madrid player.

Tbf it's crime to play the likes of Messi and Ronaldo in friendlies, especially at their age. Imagine Ronaldo's legacy dying from a career ending tackle in a friendly.

Regardless, of whether or not he may or may not have said it if they had played at Madrd together, many ex-players have talked how highly he thinks of Man Utd.

Do you really think Man Utd would have 'forced' him to say it? He didn't look like he was cringing at all?

Think of it this way, the worlds best player almost demands respect when he is around people, or he has enough clout within the industry to more or less do what he wants. Do you really think that Man Utd demanded he say that he's coming home? In actual fact, he probably has more 'player power' than most (Messi too) to do as he pleases. He would not have said "home" if he didn't mean it or if he didn't want to say it.

Come on now.

Everything to football fans now has a cynic thought behind it that players are just doing things because they've been told to or because they have to. Everything always has an agenda.

Can't football players be humans? Why does there always have to be a master puppeteer behind everything they do?

It would be like he never existed

I do agree that players like him should focus on games that matter instead of pointless friendlies.

I wonder if his biggest impact in this second time at Utd will be the behind the scenes influence on the younger players regarding single minded focus and intensity. I think competition at training might become a little bit more vibrant.

I wont be surprised if there's another behind closed doors friendly for United, and Ronaldo plays there.

Tbh mate, my feeling is that this is his plan. He wants to come here and do two things:

a) break Rooney's record; &

b) match or surpass Messi's 6 (likely 7 now due to the Copa America win) Ballon d'Ors.

I think he's going to be here for the three seasons at a minimum and if we're going well, I think he's getting another year or two on top of that.

It's difficult and for literally any other person in any other comparative field I'd have said it was impossible, but Ronaldo defies convention. He's still having the same productivity at the very top level as he did when he was at his peak. And looking at videos of his time at Juve this season just gone (which didn't just include his goals, but also his all-round play) his acceleration and speed is still pretty much enough for anyone he came up against. He isn't going to be found physically wanting at all.

The hope for me is that just like Cantona, he becomes the totem around which this young team grows. And if that does happen then honestly, I can't help but tip my hat to the club for it. It's a potential masterstroke and his impact could reverberate for years after he's gone and would solidify his legend status at Utd, perhaps even putting him on that hallowed pantheon which tbh I never thought he would have reached after he left and had his peak years with Madrid.
Anything can happen and I feel if he does stay beyond 3 seasons he would most likely stay on for at least another year and potentially break the record.

As for the Ballon d'Or, I feel if Messi wins it this year, then Ronaldo may struggle to win another 3 and overtake him. Feel he could win 1-2 at most so really hoping someone else like Lewandowski wins it this year and keep Messi on 6!
