What’s our chance to sign both Rice and Haaland next year? Would these signings make us unstoppable?

I think our chances are good :D Eventually I’ll think United will be hard to stop and expect us to take the treble:cool:

I'm hoping the CDM and Striker market is a lot better than this over the course of the season - If it's Kane or Haaland and Rice or Neves then that would be poor. Chances are there'll be a new big CDM and Striker by the end of the season that everyone will be hyping up.

Yes Haaland will sign for us, win champions league and the premier league title three times then go to Real Madrid then Juventus then come back to United for the end of his career

We won't get Haaland, we will get another ex-legend in...Dong Fangzhou, age 36 at the moment

Would love us to get Haaland next summer but as we already know, he’s gonna be the most sought after player next summer for a number of clubs. Hopefully he chooses us. I’m not fussed if we miss out on Rice or West Ham refuse to sell him. Personally I don’t see the hype around him and would rather go for someone like Bissouma who can play that defensive midfield role as well as be deployed as a b2b midfielder when required.

I think we certainly have a chance with Haaland. Madrid will sign Mbappe, Chelsea have signed Lukaku, and I don't think Barca or Liverpool have anywhere near the funds to get him, nor would any of the Italian sides. It kind of leaves us, City and PSG. I mean, would he really go to PSG when he hasn't even hit his prime? I doubt it. It looks like it could be us or City. However, with City not getting Kane this summer, and us getting Ronaldo, I fancy them to be favourites. This is, of course, my own hypothesis, and any club I ruled out could pull it off.

I'm actually shocked Chelsea didn't fight tooth and nail for him this summer, and ended up paying well over the odds for Lukaku. They looked like they had a free run for him.

I would honestly rather we steer well clear of Rice. It's of course only my own opinion, but I just don't rate him, and he has flop written all over him. I don't think the hype and likely transfer fee, correlate with the talent, whatsoever. I feel if he came here, fans would be on his back in no time. He's honestly nowhere near as good as the crazy hype would have you believe.

You said something there. Maybe they’ve received signals Haaland wants to join United :D

Hopefully!

I certainly feel we have a huge chance, and it's mostly because of what I said. I was half hoping City got Kane, as they would have been out of the race. As good as Kane is, Haaland has far more guaranteed longevity. I just fear now they'll favour Haaland next summer over Kane, who will be 29 by then.

I do think it's heavily reliant on Pogba and where he is next year.

If Pogba goes then one of our creative players has gone - meaning that the need for someone like Rice has taken a back seat. This may be one 1/4th the reason this didn't happen during the past window.

I do also think that one of these transfers might happen in January; alongside Trippier. We really dont have much more positions to be chopping and changing against. Possibly 2 CDM (or one CDM and one CM), a RB and a ST.

Rice is probably nailed on if he has another good year. Haaland will be a race between all the clubs so I won’t predict that one. More interesting is what we would do if Pogba decides to leave to Real/PSG
Kante is 31 next year, wouldn’t be surprised if Chelsea go all in for Rice. I know they’re different in how they play but they will need to think about replacing Kante’s defensive work at some point.

Knowing our luck, we will get them, but then be short in two other areas, like needing a GK and another position (or CM)

Putting aside Rice has his eyes on Chelsea - although they've got Saul in for the time being - and that there will be strict competition for Haaland and I don't see how we can fit him in either, in terms of the finances.

Rice will cost in excess of £70m. Haaland will cost in excess of £90m. Together around £170-180m, I'd say.

Could probably scrape together Lingard (£15m) + Martial (£30m) around £45-50m.

Looking at a net spend of £120m, and that's excluding potentially a RB too. Could I see the club producing a net spend of £220m+ over two years?

Not at all.

Will have to see, likely, Bailly (£15m) and one of Fred/DVB go (£30m) too - not much resale value in Matic. A far more reasonable net spend of £80-90m.

I would be very surprised if he was. Real Madrid , Chelsea, City, liverpool or United seems way more likely imo.
Madrid is getting mbappe and Haaland will need to be his replacement for PSG as their new shiny toy they can afford. Chelsea have lukaku. City might be the other real threat. They'll be desperate for a striker this time. Kane or Haaland. But Ive a feeling like both will be in Manchester next summer.

People seem to think the 433 is unrealistic, but what about the 451?

Have folk thought about how we'd line up with Haaland and Ronaldo as well as other personnel?

I find it difficult to get. Only a 2 man up front formation would do it - Ronaldo doesn't have it in him as a LW, anymore, more comfortable as a CF alongside another.

442 (D) is the only way I see.

352 is overkill with Maguire-Varane adept at the back + would require Pogba 2 man midfield antics.

If we can get Trippier in, we'd have Shaw and Trippier in from the flanks, a diamond central midfield of Pogba/CDM/McTominay with Fernandes #10 with Ronaldo-Haaland CFs.

Greenwood, Sancho and Rashford game time? Very limited. May have to rest Ronaldo considerably more. Could just have to accept it for a season before switching to 433 the season after.

Doesn’t matter what PSG wants if Haaland doesn’t want to go there, which I strongly doubt he would. Just my subjective opinion of course.

But I agree, RM would probably get Mbappe, and as you say, Chelsea have Lukaku, so it’s between us, city and Liverpool then. Let’s call it Ole’s first real test.

I am personally very pessimistic that we'll sign Haaland, especially after signing Ronaldo, but I'm sure Rice will be our top target.

We helped Ronaldo get out of Juventus. Ronaldo will help us but he is 36 and can't be given a free run in to the first XI unless he deserves it.

I only say this because Haaland isn't going to come here to stay on the bench as a young player, Ronaldo will know this and will be competitive just as much as we want Trippier for Wan Bissaka.

If we do well this season, I think we could land both of them. Our squad would be almost perfect with those 2 acquisitions, however GK might still be an issue come next summer. Also expect us to get a back-up RB, whether that's Trippier or a new name that the season produces, I don't know.

United are going to hoover up Haaland and Rice and start their next period of domination
Fixed it for you

I don't think we'll be in for Haaland now with Ronaldo on a 2+1 deal, he's going to be our striker for the foreseeable future with Greenwood taking over afterwards.

We will most certainly pursue a 'long-term striker' in the not too distant future, and Haaland is the first name on that list of targets, I can guarantee you. We can have insane squad depth and keep everyone happy at the same time, trust me.

I've gotten a tad tepid about halland to be honest so I'm low key hoping Mason blows it out of water this year so we don't really need him by next year

The cost of having him would be massive even for us and knowing our owners that would hamper us in any further incomings (and rightfully so the money pit isn't endless)

And I'm not so sold on him being pivotal to our success as we're just not that kind of team to be honest and having a solid group of players rather then stars would be much more conducive to success in my opinion

His shitbag of an agent only compounds my opinion

Rice i understand why were so heavily linked with
Hes the perfect ole signing. overpriced yeah but also English and very solid and heavily experienced in pl he would come in and immediately improve us and if all works out would be a pillar of the team for years to come

But o think its still to soon to tell a lot can happen in a year
Maybe there are better targets out there that we don't even know about maybe that toochemani fella has a blinder of a season or bissouma matures in to a world class cm so its yet to be seen

Overall I say its too soon to form an definite opinion on either of them and I'm not sold on either to be honest

I think we'll get neither and I wouldn't be that bothered. Rice will go to Chelsea and Haaland will go to Real. Real have just shown they can afford to spend €200m on a player, I think they'll make that player Haaland after getting Mbappe and Pogba for free, new bunch of Galaticos.

I think Bissouma or Tchouameni for the DM position, a young CB and a box to box should be our signings next summer.

True. But I reckon PSG is the only team insane enough to give him 500k a week, his agent is asking. I forgot about Barcelona. They might be in aswel. Since Messi is gone and griezeman is out on loan. They'll have a shitload of money saved aside and they'll might get very desperate depending on how this season goes for them. Going to be an all out war for him. Long as he doesn't join any other PL team.

I imagine just about every top club across Europe will be looking at Haaland, ourselves included. The financial package to bring him factoring in wages and Raiola tax will be astronomical though. Even with a release clause I don't think that would be an easy deal to so.

I can see us going for Rice. 2 seasons of suffering with McTominay and Fred should be long enough to give the midfield some attention. That said, it feels like a waste of time signing Rice if we don't also sign a midfield partner with a bit of quality on the ball, and we just aren't getting both of those players in one window.
