Bottas let off in the last sector but still got the fastest lap because he was so far ahead of the previous fastest lap, Lewis wouldn’t be 1.5sec faster otherwise.

As some drivers showed you can overtake , it requires greater skill but is possible. Also, the prognosis for pandemonium at the start was wrong, it was a nice race at the end.
I disagree, but that’s fine. Perez was the only serial overtaker, and he was in the fastest car this year against much slower cars

Max DOTD for me. Very calm drive in an atmosphere where it’d have been easy for him to get lost in emotions. He looked like a champion in the making.

Certainly between him and Perez. Good day for RB

They still pay his salary, right?
So he turns up and gets them 15 or 16 more points in the constructors.....

But what did he gain. Nothing.
So what? It's the principle of being told not to try and trying anyway. James looked absolutely pathetic coming on the radio like that.

Lewis was probably going to get the fastest lap whether Bottas went for it or not.

Though looking at the times I think I judged Bottas too early. He spinelessly pulled out of his fastest lap. Pathetic. Off you go to Alfa with your tail between your legs.

Really poor race on a poor track, but it’ll stay on the calendar because of max
Funnily, he doesn't actually consider Zandvoort his home track; that's Spa. (As he has told reporters. Spa is much closer to where he grew up.) So it's rather because of his fans than Max himself, if that's really the reason.

I didn’t know that, fair enough.

I meant more for the fans/atmosphere they’ve brought, because of Max though. I wasn’t insinuating that they’d keep it there just because 1 man wanted it

It was a great track, aesthetically, but not the type that brings a lot of exciting racing. Hopefully they can make it wider or something

Easy Sergio today. Max never in doubt never under pressure, won easy. Sergio from the pit lane finished in the points andvon a tracks that is hard to pass on.

Sergio DOTD despite underperforming all weekend and getting to 8th in the best car on this track, nah. Max was DOTD in a non eventful race, he was brilliant, sometimes the best car/driver combo that wins actually deserves DOTD on merit.

I think he’ll win it, because fans like to see overtaking. But I think max drove really well. Sergio was a close 2nd for me, the cars he was overtaking were inferior to his

If it was DOTW you'd have a point, but today Perez did so much more. Max led well but didn't do anything special, fastest car in clean air, better team strategy, better pit stops, etc, basically Lewis last season. Checo was able to do tons of overtaking on a track that's really not good for it, easily the DOTD.

The woman handing those trophies over is a Heineken heir, worth billions.

Just a fun fact.

Totally off topic I know, but the Heineken experience in Amsterdam is one of the most disappointing tourist experiences I've ever had, it was rubbish. Really half arsed, especially compared to other big brewery visitor centres (Guinness, Staropramen, etc).

Not the best race as we had expected I suppose. However I think it was still interesting watching the different racing styles and team tactics play out in an attempt to force things to happen. Very good drive for Max for the win. Exactly what was needed from him.

According to one of the lads at work years ago they used to give you a lash of pints doing it, but now your lucky to get 1

Is Mazepin the worst driver in the history of F1 ?
Nah, Yuji Ide was worse, they took his super licence away after 4 races he was that bad. Think there was one guy in the 60s who got disqualified from a race for driving too slowly so he probably wins the all time ranking.

No, I got that. :) But I could imagine F1 prioritizing keeping a track on the schedule (as long as it makes financial sense) because it's the home track of a racer who's a likely WC contestant for the foreseeable future.

Except it's not his home track. I confuse myself. Dutch media pretty much treat it as such though; Spa is pretty much just another track in Dutch media.

With Mazepin we're so lucky Haas have such a shit car.

If he was in a Haas with the sort of pace they used to have, fighting in the points, he'd be causing massive incidents every race. Whereas now he's only really a danger to Mick and to himself.
