It's nearly an hour long. Can someone summarize it in 30 words or less please.

Hour long? Is he doing commentary on every minute he has played for United?

Can’t you guys stick it on in the background and listen to it?

how do you guys manage a full match of United if an hour is too long?;)

They don’t tend to feature van De Beek, funnily enough.

I'm watching it now : fast forward to 13 minute mark where he's asked about how he feels about lack of playing time and how he feels at Manchester United!

Love the part at 22:45 where he absolutely lays into Ole, sheesh. Fair enough though

Basically he now calls himself Different Donny and hope Ole notices the improvements. He sounds pretty down to earth, knows he had to improve and adapt, etc.

In my experience players will always say that they can play whatever role the manager asks of them. Whether they can genuinely do it effectively is another matter.
He apparently started off as a #6 at Ajax and when he was around 18 the manager asked him to push forward and play more attacking.

I loved it too.
Says He can play as an 8 or 6, already played at 6 when in Ajax, but doesn't know what the manager thinks.

Absolutely right, this insistence with Fred or McFred, when you can't experiment with Donny makes no sense.

Great interview, and Ole is doing him wrong.

The thing is even if he can play as an 8 he can't do it better than Pogba and would also be a player who would need a DM beside him.

And if we played him as a 6 he won't work with Pogba, with Fred the midfield would be too limited and same with McTominay.

Simple fact is our Midfield pairs do not suit eachother.

Even Fred and McTominay don't suit eachother. There defensive work does but overall they are a very flawed Midfield.

Ole called him a different Donny! He didn't call himself that.

Everton came knocking, Ole spoke with him and said he wants him to stay, he sees a different Donny to last season and has plans for him.

Let's hope he's more Donny than Davy this year

Howson comes off like an idiot. How the hell did he become popular?
Well, for starters he really understands football, which can rarely be seen among those fan channels. Also he knows a lot of people within the club and eventually got to Rio - who himself is looking for people to help him develop his channel.

He doesn’t football as well as you think he does. Having contacts maybe. But that’s not everything.

Yeah and then at 24.15ish where he implied that Carrick and McKenna don’t know what they are doing, with no emphasis on patterns of play is so revealing.

Because he comes across as the right kind of United fan I think. He's a proper manc, he's unfiltered and unpolished, just tells it like it is etc. A contrast to Mark Goldbridge, who almost comes across as media trained at times.

Anyone ever find it mad how little players seem to speak to managers?

Like sometimes you hear players talk and its as if they've never had a one-on-one conversation with the manager, or managers talking like they've never had a chance to talk to a certain player before.

Is it a case of they only strictly talk about tactics / the session itself and everything else is strictly to be discussed between club representatives and agent of the player? That's how it seems.

Donny picks Juan Mata for his dream team five-a-side team.

Does that mean that Donny doesn't know football now? Caf tells me that Mata is garbage

WHICH IS IT?!

Cracking attitude and is clearly itching to get on the pitch! Sounds like Ole will have his plans for him this season, after Donny and his agent have both received assurances from the man himself, in my opinion once the CL starts we will see him getting more minutes there before being eased in during the September/ October period.

Says he has improved himself physically and was surprised by the intensity of the league. Frustrated at not playing yet, especially with fans back now, but knows he will have to take his chance when it comes. Says there were links about leaving but Ole assured him he has a big place this season.

The number 6 talk came more from the pundits asking about his background, finding out he started as a 6 and pushing whether or not he could do the role for Its. Donny response was basically, his best position is probably a 10 but with how United play, he see's himself playing as the 6 or 8. His biggest strength being finding space and arriving late in the box.

Summed up the touching story about his friend and the shirt 34, saying it's a memento so the whole world can know his number.

All in all, fantastic attitude, seems to be focused on what he can offer the team and training hard and putting extra work in with Carrick to take his chance.

Breakdown for those too lazy to watch:
  • He played as a 6 at youth level
  • Can play as 6, 8 or 10
  • Finding the lack of game time difficult. Damages confidence. Is waiting for an opportunity
  • Ole wants him to stay and said he sees a "different Donny" in training
  • Does a lot of training with Carrick
  • Says he thinks he can play as a 6 but not sure what the manager thinks
  • Greenwood is the best finisher he's ever seen
  • Rio asked him to pick 5 a side team. His picks were: Mata, Shaw, Bruno, Matic
  • Enjoys living in Manchester
Got a great impression of him. Looks like he wants to work hard and really prove himself at United.

Thanks for this.

Interviews with active players are actually often so boring because of the media training and the way they have to watch what they say.

It was clear to see he was watching what he was saying and that’s not a knock on him. It’s the obvious thing to do. But still came across well. I hope he gets a chance.

To add to this:

- He doesn't know what his best position either,
- His best attribute is making runs into the box
- He's willing to play anywhere

Well lets pretend you're employed by a company with 30 employees. 25 are staff and 5 are various leaders. Two leaders are your day-to-day contact, with whom you discuss what you're doing during the workday. The Manager oversees the 29, but his role is that of an administrator who gets his feedback from the other 4 leaders who report to him.

In this hierarchy, there's no natural position for you to go and speak to the manager at the top for matters outside of matchday duties. All interaction fall naturally in the scope of random conversation, or conversation of necessity. In the work calendar there are essentially 3 days available to talk to the manager outside the matchday or workday. With 25 players in the squad, there is not time enough to talk to everyone often one on one, so conversation are more rare than between coaches who engage with everyone all the time. For this reason, one on one conversation are of necessity.

Did Donny say he hasn't spoken to Ole? I havent gotten to that bit yet
