If I'm Donny Van de Beek and McFred aren't playing, Pogba getting back from three international games on the spin and Hannibal starts ahead of me (no disrespect to Hannibal, he's going to the top) and I'm still on the bench, the first thing I'd be doing when I get home, is pack my bags.
I said "add Hannibal to ...". that means,
Hannibal - Matic - VDB

He was comparing Goldbridge and Hitler. They both are popular and his followers are idiots was literally his point. He could've brought up 'Lil Wayne and made the same argument.

And you'd have to be a moron to bring up Hitler on a football forum and not get called out for it.
Actually you'd have to be a moron to bring up Hitler on a football forum. End of discussion.

But my point was mostly that you can go feck off to a different thread if you want to endlessly discuss Utd related content unrelated to VDB.

NDAs means you can't disclose certain things, it doesn't limit who you can speak to.
Actually banning him from speaking to someone regardless of topic would be a violation of his rights.
VDB has not signed an NDA that we know off and NDAs in the UK are limited in scope compared to the States.
By that logic, you can do the same. But we are, or at least were, in fact talking about the opinions that others have about Donny Van de Beek. I happen to rate Donny highly and have been flogged for it but I never questioned the right of any poster here for flogging me for rating Donny. And I don't recall myself ever having flogged anyone for not rating Donny. Not that there's anything wrong with flogging another poster for an opinion (within reason and some decorum, of course) they may hold and it goes on here all the time, but it's not my preference to have a go at a poster because he holds a view I disagree with. (In fact, I was torched to the ground by some poster a few months ago for not sufficiently rating Fred, about whom I actually wrote was a decent squad player.) But it is worth noting that social media personalities are divided on a particular player. Goldbridge rates Donny, which is nothing more than one man's opinion, but the point above is that merely by virtue of Golbridge having 1.2 million followers that he therefore is doing something right has no bearing on whether his opinions on Donny are valid or not.

Please accept my apologies making the obvious point that some dubious characters also have millions of followers (corporeal and otherwise), but that fact in no way allows the conclusion that those dubious characters are "doing something right".

Hmmm.. Wasn't that our closed doors friendly line up in a single pivot midfield?
no one knows exactly what we tried in the friendly against Stokes, but many think we did 4-3-3. I would love us doing it in the real game, but I don't want Matic to play single pivot through the game, because it will most likely produce a game plan with high-possession but no offensive threat at all. I just feel 4-3-3 or 4-3-1-2 are the most suitable formation we can do without mcfred. they also can help bring in Hannibal and VDB.

Yes, I was just responding to you bringing up NDA's to try and invalidate my point.
I just found it funny you thought Ole wasn't allowing VDB to give interviews, is all really.
I never said that. You highlighted a sentence where I said Donny being allowed to do interviews was a great sign. I have no idea if Ole would even be the one on the front line of making those decisions.

Would Donny have the legal right to do an interview? Probably. Does that mean he'd be free to just go do an interview and talk about his struggles on the bench? No. Some players are big enough that they can sometimes get away with saying whatever they want, like Pogba. Donny isn't in that position. The thrust of my post as a whole was that Donny is doing interviews at the green light and behest of the club.

If he doesn't play against Newcastle then he never will, McTominay is injured, Fred banned and we've seen how poor Matic is. So it's now or never for Donny.

We should get to see how good he really is if he starts, with Fred banned this has to be one of his only real chances he'll get to prove himself as good enough or not.

And if it's unfair that it has to be this way then tough luck, you don't make it here without taking these chances.

...of course, that's assuming he actually gets a chance here

Agreed. It is the perfect match as well as Newcastle are shite.

I believe our manager is thinking of bringing in Declan Rice sooner or later to play Donny beside him.

It’s about the only chance he will get to perform in a first 11 for us because he won’t be playing next to any mid apart from Matic that we currently have.

Man it would be hilariously trolling levels of mangement if VBD doesn't start againt Newcastle
Isn't it obvious though? Matic and Pogba will likely to sit ahead of the CBs. No way VDB and Pogba will be the 2 CMs in any formation unless we want to throw away the game.

I’ll be worried sick having Matic up against someone like ASM. McT would have been perfect for Newcastle.
If the team is organised you won't rely on one player and given the amount of possesion we would have against Newcastle the players we have available should be more than enough to snuff out whatever threat Newcastle have.

It's not like he's played well when he's played so no trolling really. It'll be Pogba and one more I guess although I'd play Pogba on the left which could increase VDB 's chances. However I see Ole going for Pogba plus 1 tomorow

Feels like a fork in a road for Donny at United.

If he can't get into side on Saturday after the entire universe has aligned to make it almost impossible not to play him... then it's all over. It would be a par of the highest order if Ole decides to play Pogba and Matic in midfield and play Lingard, an unfit Sancho or an out of form Martial on the wing.

Especially since Donny hasn't been on International duty and should be as fresh as a player can be.

Now he knows what levels he's got to reach to be a manutd player, if he thinks he's going to start off the reputation he had coming from Ajax he was wrong, he's got to perform now at the next chance or he'll be off.

So Ole is confirming what I said already in this thread, he has the tools to play in a 2 as a number 6.
He can definitely play as the more adventurous #6, as long as the approach to the game is a proactive one and not a reactive one imo. And with the players we have, we should definitely approach games by adopting a higher defensive line, especially against the weaker teams imo.

So i'm hoping to see a midfield two of VdB and Matic against Newcastle who I feel are a team that can be pinned in their own half for long periods.

Let’s hope so. I want to see him get a proper chance to show what he can do

At the very least, Donny should be given a chance to play with a strong starting XI. With Fred and McTominay both out of action, and the next opponent being Newcastle, if Donny doesn’t get the start in this fixture he and his agent need to step up their game to demand a transfer.

The club always comes first, but nothing good comes to the club in letting an asset waste away that could otherwise be cashed in to allow the club to bring in a player who can make a contribution to the club.

Both VDB and Ole highlighting that VDB can play in the double pivot right before a game in which our two first choice double pivot options are unavailable. Can only mean one thing: Pogtic double pivot.

I hope that's the case. It feels like the exception rather than a norm especially without McFred.

Full interview below.

I listened to his last pod and he said then that he heard a story about Lukaku that made him understand why Ole wanted to ship him out, implying non-footballing reasons.

Has anyone heard any rumours? Quite curious.

He's actually playing Matic , just sell this guy already why the hell did we bother keeping him, waste of everybodys time and our money, why didn't we try and recoup some money to invest in a midfielder that we'll actually play? Sorry but this is down to Solskjaer, he's bigging him up in interviews but never plays him, everybody can see right through it.
