They'll never fix it. It would require a complete overhaul and would probably take them years. All they do right now is use essentially the same code, add a few pointless iterative features, a slightly changed UI, and release it as a new game, and people still buy it in their droves. It's become even worse than FIFA.

New features:

- Get to warn player about their Twitter accounts
- In press conferences you can now move the coke bottles to the side.
- Take training on a daily basis. Instruct all drills and watch the dots running around.
- Buy houses and cars with your wages.

I want an owner mode - hire and fire managers - demand certain players - run murderous regimes etc.

 I actually can see them implementing the last one at some point.

There is not a lot you can do in 1 year so the criticism of all sports games that they don’t overhaul entire game each year is ridiculous. Absolute majority of new features will be iterative and being slightly improved on year after year, bigger features take them multiple years of work. Problem is that they (all other games except FM) charge the same price as AAA games that are released much less frequently. Sports games should cost twice less but that’s another story.

I never said every year, though. They've been using the same engine and code base for 10+ years now which is insane. Even the likes of FIFA have switched to new engines multiple times in that same time period. It's crazy what they get away with. The game needs a complete overhaul precisely because none of the issues (terrible AI, dodgy transfers etc.) are fixable in the current codebase. It's not even that painful to do, they need a designated team to commit to it for a few years while they keep doing the usual shite until it's ready.

FIFA switched engines multiple times and all times it was essentially the same game with improved graphics but because they target next gen consoles and PC users they must improve on graphics. FM has never been graphics orentied game, hell there still were dots on the screen not too long ago and they target slightly different audience, the one that plays on less powerful devices. Other sports game engines share the same engine between multiple titles so it makes sense for them to invest in creating a powerful engine. I’m not sure FM can afford to invest a lot of dev time in majorly improving the engine since it will be used only by them. They probably could switch to UE but nobody wants to give away % of sales.

The engine was just an example, it's not about the engine, it's about a fundamental failure to address the game's biggest issues over and over again that they even acknowledged themselves that they won't fix, which is mad. The game itself needs an overhaul to fix them, it won't get it, but it does, and to claim it's ridiculous for fans to want an overhaul to fix these issues that they pay 50e every year for is silly.

FM on a controller you make me sick. :nono:

To in-depth for me these days much preferred the more streamlined versions back when it was championship manager loved those games.

I have no interest in press conferences, agent negotiating, training etc.
Yeah I only tend to play the Lite mode because life is far too short - it's called Xbox mode on PC or something like that.

It's good but I do wish you could do team talks.

Wish they would allow us to take control of youth teams.

Would be interesting to take control of a u23 or u18 squad and work your way up or take over the first team position when the manager gets sacked.

They have it with the international squads, so shouldn't be too hard to implement.

Ah just realised that some files aren't accessible on the game pass version of FM? Which means the name fix can't be applied... that would be a pisser, but I'd live with it to play the game for free.

My understanding is images and logos and kits etc still does work...?

So new fatures are:

-wide centerback role (long overdue, but hardly revolutionary)
-a new analysis screen.

The only reason i used to tried FIFA Manager back in 07/ 08 for a while. We got something to do with our wages, buying supercar, palace, etc hell i even donated it some back to club for transfer fund.

One thing i really like they fixed is press conference, i want to be able answer the question freely and a dynamic interaction based on what being said before like an actual press conference. Not this gimmick boring stuff they had since eternity. I want a Jose-like persona in conference room.

Love footy manager I’ve played it for over 20 years (Champ manager) but damn I wish they had some competition.

I’ll buy the game and no doubt put hundreds of hours in but they haven’t innovated the series in about 10 years. I still play and always have played in 2D mode because the 3D match engine is still shockingly bad, I’m not expecting a FIFA match engine but come on.

21 was just too easy, like most years once you crack the tactics but I thought it was especially easy this time.

I just wish they would do lower leagues more realistic, teams always want too much money for the players. It’s a game but I lose interest if I have to start self imposing my own rules just to make it challenging.

I must’ve been shit then because my United team with Haaland, sancho & Camavinga won 1 league title in 5 years. City & Liverpool were ridiculous on my save.

Yeah 21 is far too easy. Transfer wise I don't think they'll ever be able to fix it, same problem every year. I hope they balance the wage stuff more, gets ridiculous when you're deep in a save and everyone wants 200k+.

I tried to get Declan rice on 21 & West Ham wanted a structured deal worth 198m & city ended up paying it

Way way too easy.

Managed to win the Premiership with Bournemouth within three seasons, along with Europa League, FA cup and league cup in that time.

Once you have a tactic that works it gets boring as there's no need to change it no matter whom you're playing.
Hoping the new version spruces up the interface, adds a bit more challenge and hopefully sorts out the repetitive nature of press conferences.

Not buying. Game's felt dead for me since FM15 and since 18 I feel they've completely fell off the wagon.
Alwayd get excited by the beta, but upon release, the game feels entirely different and disappointing, so I'm not falling for it again.

The yearly releases need to stop and they need to focus on patches for the game instead that provide better quality to a single product, but that's obviously not as lucrative and good ole Miles doesn't seem very open to criticism.

There's better things to play at the moment. :houllier:

Making it more difficult must be a priority. The game is far too easy as you go 5 years (or less actually) into the game. Even with your own set rules it’s easy to dominate.

As usual, better transfers for the AI is a must.

I didn't purchase the FM 2021 and most likely won't purchase this one.

Haven't played in a good few years. Tempted to dip back in, buy 2021 or wait for 2022? I see there are data updates out for 2021 anyway.

New features in 2022

- Ostracise Feature. For the first time ever, select a member of the squad and single him out for unique treatment. Set limits on his playing time from minimal to none.
- Moments. That's right; in our tactical overhaul we've added a new tactical instruction that tells the players expressly to "do something"; this bypasses any tactical instructions, even if you haven't set any prior.
- Your Way DNA. Stamp your playing DNA on the squad this year with a revolutionary feature which allows you to wax lyrical about your intended footballing approach to the media and board, all the while dealing in vague generalities about what that entails.

Just kidding.

Man o man, the time I've wasted on this game.

I'm delighted that they allowed it to go completely stale as otherwise I may never have gotten free.
