As much I agree that the love in for Ronaldo is starting to go into cringe and gross territory, the business analysts have probably crunched the numbers and every new video is a reminder to “buy the home shirt with Ronaldo 7, and then buy the away shirt with Ronaldo 7 and then buy the 3rd shirt with Ronaldo 7!“… therefore more merch sales.

And it’s a gold mine for interested sponsors too. TeamViewer must have been having parties every day since deadline day.

Agree. I see it for what it is - a tactic to squeeze out as much money and PR as possible. The transfer might not pay itself from kit sales alone but bigger sponsorship deals than anticipated pre-Ronaldo? Most certainly.

Imagine if he gets the all time United goal scoring record as well as the Madrid one (among the many others he also currently has) but the overall scoring record at TWO clubs is unprecedented surely.

He's 135 away. 135/4 = 33 a season.

Definitely doable.
The man would be turning 40 in the February of that fourth season

“This is why I am here,” states Ronaldo, with a look of determination.

“I am not here for a vacation. As I told you, before was good, winning important things and I wore the shirt before many years ago, but I am here to win again.

“I am capable, me and my team-mates. I am ready to go, I am ready to go. It is a good chance for me, for the supporters, for the club, to get one step ahead.

“I am ready and I think I will be a huge thing in the next three or four years.”

He is going for that Rooney record isn’t he the magnificent bastard?

Tbh I initially had the same thought. But I actually wouldn't bet against Ronaldo actually accomplishing that. Could hit 40 odd goals in all competitions every season or 20 odd goals in all competitions every season both outcomes wouldn't surprise me.

Watching the Newcastle game from 2008 on MUTV.

Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez are the front three all in their prime. However, I can't but admire Carrick and Fletcher.
Carrick and Fletcher were so good. True unsung heroes. I was absolutely gutted when Fletcher got the red card in the UCL semi-final against Arsenal. In my heart I knew that was all the hope gone for us beating Barca in the final. We really needed our full strength team to have any chance. Especially the likes of Fletcher who would have been pivotal in that final against a side like Barca. The final was always going to be won in midfield.

So they didn't have to sell a player to get Kane for 120m but yes for Ronaldo.

Balague is so deep in Guardiola's butt

Don’t know how this guy still gets media attention? An absolute Grade A+ bullshitter that even fecking Sky binned.

I don't even know why clubs put journalists up to this stuff. It just looks like crying over spilt milk. For weeks now everyone and his dog, including Khabib, has been going on record saying Ronaldo intended to go to United. Now Guillem is coming along to correct everyone else and tell us the 'real' story. Laughable really.

Watching the interview with Wes Brown in OT and I gotta say, he looks genuinely happy. It's not just for show. He looks like a guy who had a huge weight taken off his shoulder.

Carrick was MOTM probably. He really was an brilliant midfielder, severely underrated in England. How we miss a player like him, those line breaking passes are a joy to watch.

Is it me or does he looked more relaxed than usual. Looks like a man who doesn't need to answer any questions.

Family life seems to have done him well. Reuniting with the OT fam will probably do the same.

The "ego", "dressing room disruptor", "manager undermining" conspiracy theorists will be very disappointed by this great interview. He knows how big United are. He certainly ain't going there to rock the boat!

Not really saying anything new or particularly insightful here, but... Ronaldo really is in incredible shape.

Bastard looks younger in that interview with Brown than he did ten years ago!

It’s mad when you see him next to Brown like that, he looks about 24/25. He really is a remarkable specimen. Interesting to see how much he has trimmed up too, he’s lost most of that bulk he had in his late 20s.

I remember when we signed him as a 18 year old and there was a large section of fans who felt he needed to be sent on loan. Even ex players like Lou Macari said the same. But it's interesting to hear from the man himself about how Fergie surprised him by telling him he would be part of the first team rather than going back to SCP on loan for the 2003/04 season.

Different coaches have different opinions on when to introduce young players imo and Fergie was braver than most when it comes to introducing youth.

Yeah you never know how it would have turned out. He would have had plenty more game time in Sporting but training with superior talented players and playing in the premier league would have been invaluable at his age.

That's what made an impression on me. He's so slim, that's the bit that makes him look boyish.

Does he say at one point, something about "the next 3 or 4 years" ?
Yes he did. Honestly if he maintains his fitness like Giggsy he can easily play till 40. He may not score 30/40 goals at that time but still good for 15-20.

The way he plays now and the way he maintains himself, he can keep that going for 4 years.

Yeah he says he thinks he’ll be “huge” for that time period. And I’m not betting against it. I think 30+ is doable the next two years. If he even stays at 18-20 goals a year after that till he’s 40, that would be absolutely nuts. I can def see it happening.

I noticed that. His body seems to evolve into what he needs it to do at different points in his career. His dedication to be the best he can be is inspiring.

Easily, I wonder if he has had a cheeky word with Wazza about the record ?
