First goal was great.
The finish on the third is mad, 'most' people for sure go across the keeper. He instead just smashes it in the near post with ease.

Better than Ronaldo now and all time.

So far in his career:

751 goals

315 assists

35 trophies

57 freekicks

55 hattricks

50 league goals in a season

73 goals all competitions in a season

91 goals in a year

30 or more club goals in last 13 seasons

8 Pichichi (top scorer in Spain)

6 European Golden Shoes

6 Ballon d'Or

6 FIFA Best Player

1 World Cup Golden Ball

2 UEFA Best Player

35 titles (some of the highlights are his 10 La Liga titles (vs Ronaldo’s mere 2 La Liga titles, 4 CL titles, one Copa America).

As for anyone worrying he is “over the hill”...
50 G+A in the calendar year 2021 so far with a Copa del Rey and a Copa America (in which he was top scorer and top assist maker). Currently the betting favourite to win his 7th(!) Ballon D’Or.

This is the Messi thread, champ. There's another thread for this sort of nonsense.

In other news...helluva player and some crackers there. He's just so great to watch. Makes it look effortless.

The amount of power he generates on his shot with the inside of the foot without even putting his weight behind it...always found it astonishing

Lads, it fecking Bolivia.

I thought we were discounting all goals against shit teams when comparing the GOATS? What happened there?
Then why all the hooplah over a record a few days back ?

Messi's the best of this generation regardless though. But I don't think we need to keep going there in this thread.

Best goalscorer of all time. Id dare saying comfortably
Gerd Muller has scored in 92% of his matches. I agree that Messi is the greatest scorer ever because he has the highest goalscoring peak of anyone that has ever played, but I don't think he's head and shoulders above Muller.

In terms of international football, Muller had the all time cumulative goals record in world cups until Ronaldo broke it in 2006. He has been top scorer in world cups and in the European cup, not to mention a plethora of domestic top scorer awards.

His top 30 goals are astonishing. Any of those goals could be most top players' best career goal. So many classics in there and it's hard to imagine how one player could have so many worldies.
amd yet people will tell you another players top 30 goals are just as good

Yes, id say Muller is a close second actually. Dont want to get to ahead of myself but Haaland looks like he may enter the conversation if he keeps at it. I know its too soon but that player just has a goalscorer gen that i havent really ever seen. If things dont go south for him, man hes going to be scary

I already said a few posts earlier Bolivia was meaningless much like a dire Ireland side. My post had NOTHING to do with Bolivia, just his top 30 goals in general. You have reading comprehension issues as we were just discussing how that goal wouldn’t even be anything near his top 30

Why do you constantly seem hysterical whenever someone praises Messi? You're better off going to your shrine of the other guy. This is just sad.

It's too soon for that type of prediction, isn't it? He's sensational for his age but so many things can go wrong. I'm sure many were Ronaldo Nazario would break every goalscoring record imaginable, but injuries do a play a role sometimes. We've seen it happen to multiple talented youngsters.

I hope he does reach his potential, though, and stays injury free.

Yeah, its way too soon indeed. I just cant help it, dude is a monster every single time i see him play. R9 was a magician on top of a bull when he was young, but Haaland is just like a Terminator just running trough players and putting it in the corner.

If i had to bet on who is going to have a better career between Mbappe and him, id bet everything on Haaland without thinking twice about it. Anyway this is the GOATs thread, enough off topic

He isn't the best goalscorer of all time. But he is one the greatest without doubt. He can do so many things in the field, it's amazing. Just look how he moves around the field and how he start most offensive plays. Even in his record 91 goal season he wasn't just a pure poacher.

Muller is probably the greatest goalscorer of all time. His only real competition in that respect is Pele. I think Messi just as a goalscorer is a bit behind those two. Ditto Ronaldo. Puskas also deserves a mention.

is it due to some covid restriction, or they are being rested?
Because Messi in Barcelona, rarely missed matches.
I know it's not because of rest. The regulations have fecked many teams in the Ligue 1, all the players who went on to play those qualifiers have to quarantine for a few days

It's due to the CONMEBOL calendar, these players weren't available for their club until today. So most teams haven't selected them.

Gonna spend a year in the shadow of Mbappé

Let's see if Kylian will be nice enough to gift him a CL
