It was a great goal.

Hopefully he's a valuable squad player for us this season and he proves me wrong.

He didn't do anything wrong yesterday. His ball control was good, positioning was good, linked up with other teammates. All good. We might be seeing a different Jesse here.

Never really liked him but sure can appreciate a good cameo. Even if he plans on leaving for a free, I hope he scores a couple of match winner and leaves with good memories

He deserves more playing time but he just won't get it at United. A good footballer, and I'm happy for him.

Find it a bit bizarre that people moan about the lack of squad depth but then moan that Jesse should have been sold. How do City and Chelsea manage it then?

Great goal and I'm happy for him, most players would have flicked that on and likely lost it. But, I don't want us to go down the road of thinking some corner has been turned. Let him move on for the good of all concerned.

Genuine question? What harm does it do for him to stay if he can display form like yesterday from the subs bench? Why move him on if it takes more to replace him? Surely a fit inform lingard benefits whatever club he plays for

Nothing, but do you think he is going to do that? He's coming up to 29 and has never strung together more than a handful of good games. The worst thing we could do is think some corner has been turned and offer him a big contract renewal only to have him revert to normal form a month later.

IF he keeps up this form for most of the season and IF he wants to stay I have no problem with that. Buying squad players is like a roundabout, you can go around in circles for ages. Here we have an international level player, happy to be a squad player and compete for minutes. He’s not as bad as everyone makes out

Happy for Jesse lad. Wouldn't mind at all if he can make impactful cameos off the bench across the season.

The problem was he played so few games under Ole because he lost his form probably for personal reasons. He went to WestHam and got it back. If he is playing well, then give him chances to play.
Our squad needs depth.

That's where is disagree.

Is he happy to be a squad player? Do we know that?

Is he good enough for it? If he keeps this form up then yes. If he drops to the form he's had all his career so far then no. I know which I think is more likely and with a 3 to 5 year contract required in the next year that's a big risk to think he's going to change.

That's a fairly balanced call but he’s surely going to be a very expensive squad option if we give him a new deal. There are productive regular starters at other big clubs who won’t be on as much. You’re right about trying to buy players to be squad players and provide depth though. It’s pretty pointless unless you’re signing young players who you are hoping will improve enough to be first team players eventually.

Definitely good enough to be a squad player. Looked sharp in this game. Great option off the bench.

I think he's a great option to have from the bench and an able deputy for early round cup games or dead rubber matches when we rest some of the first teamers. I also think he is happy enough to be a squad player so long as he gets regular game time and he definitely will throughout the season. He's supported United his whole life and I think he is motivated to being part of the team and to earn a new contract here.

Nice goal, well taken. Still needs to be moved on.
It would be interesting to see if he plays when chips are down, and then see how he performs.

If he plays like last game then for me it's okay if he stays. We need depth.

It's great to see he's picked himself up again and I think he will get a decent number of minutes this season, which is a pleasant surprise, but he's earned them with his recent performances. Training with Ronaldo every week will be good for him, imo.

I have very mixed emotions on the Jesse situation.
On one hand I think he would be a fantastic squad option, on the other I dont think he would be satisfied with that.

And then there is the issue with our players that desperately need the time to develop.

I think the ideal scenario for United is to get Hannibal and Amad out on loan and have Jesse as a super sub.
I have a hard time believing Jesse would settle with that though, and I dont think he is as good as neither Rashford or Sancho.

I was so happy when he was doing well for West Ham because I thought we'd finally be rid of him.

How is he still here? Christ...

He's not good enough so we can't be surprised when he costs us. Usually it's on the other end of the pitch.

Brain-dead.

In space, under no pressure. You know it's stoppage time. Smash it down the pitch.

I'd fine him a week's wages for that, not sure he'll be getting anymore little cameos any time soon.
