The Series S makes no sense to me personally. Tiny SSD and it costs the same price as the actual console to increase the HD space and is less powerful than the last gen One X. Either go X or go bust.

Shame it's impossible to get the X or I'd probably just bite the bullet and grab one, there are a few games on gamepass recently that I'd prefer to play on console vs PC.

Tell you what though, Wolverine by Insomniac sounds cool - but it's either a formulaic open world like Spiderman without the fun traversal, or it's an on rails linear campaign.

Sunset Overdrive was one of my favourite games last gen. Shame to see Sony turn Insomniac into a study that produces no new IPs and when they're not doing license work, making the same Ratchet and Clank game for the 8th time just a bit shinier.

Yes they're banging good quality games out but they're talented enough to be bringing something original to the party. What a waste.

Yep, Sony have become conservative. Tis a shame.

That PlayStation conference pushes Sony even further ahead.
I can see the appeal if you are into the superhero genre. It's just never been my cup of tea. I've never read a superhero comic, never seen a superhero movie that I enjoyed and haven't gotten into the superhero games scene either. So another Spiderman and a Wolverine game don't really excite me as much as they would a lot of other people. I will repeat that I can see the appeal for anyone who is into superheroes and will admit that there is a large crossover between people who game and people who like superheroes.

Apart from that the first party was either what we already knew about or very far away.

A lot of assumptions there mate. We know nothing about Wolverine, and Insomniac are probably working on 3 games right now (one of which is probably the original game that you seek but unfortunately for you it's VR lol). For real though, Insomniac are smashing it. Was playing Rachet earlier and...

I'm surprised to see you seemingly upset about it, I would have thought you were happy to see sequels, iteration, etc.... Being an Xbox Stan and all that. ;)

Well yeah I like comics and hero stuff but a lot of things could come under that umbrella theoretically (Halo, Horizon, GoW, etc) so it's a bit meaningless as a categorisation. What actually stood out for me (apart from the usual suspects) was Forspoken and Project Eve.

They have my full attention...

Looks great I'm a real fantasy nerd so looking forward to games like this. I don't think it would be enough to make me buy a PlayStation but it looks like a game that I would hope to come to PC at some point.

If you're willing to wait a bit I'm sure it will be.

If you are talking about Forspoken, it is coming out on PC same day as PS5. Project Eve is also confirmed for PC too.

They are smashing it. But considering their most original game was one of my favourites it's a shame we aren't seeing a sequel to that or another original IP instead. They have the talent to bring us something creative and cool.

The world doesn't need more marvel.

Insomniac are the ones who came to Sony/Marvel wanting to do Wolverine. What we do know about them is they are very productive. I wouldn't be surprised if they're working on a game for the PSVR launch as well. We'll see them do original IP work again - I've got no doubt about that - but for now superhero games are the route they've gone down and it has produced great results so far.

That doesn't mean they would have been given the freedom to do a new IP and backed with big budget otherwise. It's also the type of thing which has little substance 'they went to Sony'. Who did? They may have had a multi game deal, or been told they'd need to continue with licensed work, or knew that they wouldn't get a new ip signed off - who knows. Plus, if leadership are on earn outs after the acquisition, then licensed games with huge fan bases make sense because you guarantee a bucket load of sales. It doesn't necessarily mean they have a passion for it and wouldn't rather do a new IP or take some creative risks in an ideal world.

A PSVR title will likely be a smaller team and smaller resources. It's not the same as giving them freedom to do their own thing.

Just saying.. it might be cool, but I'd prefer to have seen something new from them personally. I'll still get it because its Wolverine, and Insomniac guarante4d high production values and satisfying core gameplay/combat.

The true north.
Forspoken looked interesting, I'm very down for a KOTOR remake as I've tried the original a couple times and just can't get past how dated it feels.

Hopefully GT7 re-captures the magic. God of War we all know will be exceptional. Haven't played any of the Insomniac Spiderman games but looks like there will be plenty of that genre available when I get around to it.

Imo Sony did enough there to keep me thinking I won't bother getting a Series X for years, despite MS doing a much better job of enticing me this gen.
