We want him to sign his new contract we just offered him to retain his value. He will only do that if he thinks he will get game time.
Surely, surely...surely...as a club we've learned not to do that shit. We've already been burned by giving trash like Rojo, Bailly and Jones 'value retention' contracts.

Probably more horror contracts too that my brain is successfully protecting me from remembering.

He’s made a mistake. It’s early on, it’s not the end of the world. He’s a good player and a good lad. He deserves far more support and game time than Donny but then we like our new toys don’t we. If donny did that tonight it would be Oles fault for not playing him enough
Lingard has been here for years, and has proved time and time again that he isn’t good enough. Nothing to do with VDB, and if anything that’s another case of a square peg in a round hole which is a common trend with our transfers and a lack of a proper system to play them in.

When you come in to a game like that where we're under the cosh, your one job is really just not do something incredibly stupid or shit and keep things together.

It was just a mistake but who the feck does a back pass like that there?
Exactly. Had he made that pass say 60th min then it wouldn't be so bad, shit happens. But making that mistake when 30 seconds to go and 2 points at stake in CL was outrageous.

I don’t disagree. Lingard isn’t crap though and he doesn’t deserve the abuse he gets. He made a mistake. Players make them every game but because it’s lingard it’s ok to destroy him.

It was hopefully he doesn't dwell on it and get's over it quickly.

Where would people discuss his performances then?
There’s no point in discussing his performance, just as there was no point in introducing him into this game when Greenwood and Martial were both better options off the bench. We have discussed Lindgard to death in prior years. Gifflord used to make a video of every bad touch he made. He is not and has never been Manchester United quality, and is seriously lacking with his mentality. It’s time for redcafe to shut it down, and send MUFC a signal that we fans are done with Lindgard!

A couple of goals against Andorra and a meaningless injury-time goal against Newcastle got people giddy again.

Welcome to the real Lingard. Mindless running, zero concentration.

Turn down contract, hand opposition the win. Bold negotiating strategy.

30 seconds to go, 2 points at stake in CL match. That is not just a mistake, that was epic level gigantic brainfart.
It's an epic mistake sure, but it's still a mistake.

Given how the entire defence, Fred and De Gea had taxing games defensively after the red card, he let them all down with a careless, irresponsible lapse of concentration. At that level and in that situation, you can't be just any player.
I mean it wasn't intentional... He let them down sure and nobody will feel that more then Jesse... But its not an indictment on his mentality or anything.

Its crazy how some make more mistakes than others almost every single time though man
True - though there are levels... I don't think I've ever seen Lingard do something like that before though. In fact, can't recall the last time one of our players did something similar? Maybe Rio?

Scored in the final vs Palace when team was down to 10... this time nothing worked for him.

Can't blame him that much, especially when game was killed in the 1st half.

Agreed, he also didn't need to play the pass he did. Could have literally just hoofed it clear, taken an extra touch, anything but what he did. Massively high risk pass in the last minute of the game.

Got a horrible feeling we will be reading stories tomorrow of him being racially abused on social media. Really hope that isn't the case.

In regards to Lingard, I would of rather we cashed in on him in Summer, but respect to him for wanting to come back and fight. The reality is, now from what we have experienced with Lingard in the past, he will start with the going hiding routine he liked to do in his last spell here as his confidence will be shot.

It's a mistake, could happen to any player.
During game? Sure. In 95th minute? I doubt that many players would do this.
There are mistakes and there are stupid mistakes.

But bottom line is that he should not be on the pitch and that Ole's obsession with him is just crazy. He had years and years to prove himself. And just because he wanted to stay and had ourple patch in WH, he is playing in every game. He is even in front of Martial and Donny in packing order which is amazing.

For the good of the lad, and the club, he should have left in the summer. No need for us to demand a ridiculous fee either, but we do have a monkey in charge.

Like it or not he still currently is a United player though and as long as he's playing he needs a performance thread.

95th minute and we are just trying to see the game out and he plays it back to the keeper like he's expecting to start an attack out of it. he should be kicking the ball out into the stands absolutely zero situational awareness there.

Yes, every player makes mistakes but the nature of this mistake is such that there has to be some accountability. This isn’t just another “shit happens” mistake.

We aren’t in Europa, nor does he want revenge. Grow up.

He'll be gone soon enough. Best of luck to him. Not cut for the big stage. The West Hams of this world are perfect for him.

I'm so sorry for the lad. Just beginning to turn the haters into believers and comes up with a horrible error. As did AWB earlier on. At times like this we need to get around our players and support them, not villify them. Show them we know that mistakes can happen and we go again. This game has not changed the fact that we are a much better team than we have been in recent seasons.

One goal against an already beaten Newcastle and somehow his stock has gone through the roof. Please remember how poor this guy has been for us and the numerous chances he gets to continue being poor. He needs to go
